ICE Arrests Over 3,100 Aliens in Massive Sweep of US and Territories

April 2, 2012 - A huge, 6-day nationwide operation by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) netted 3,168 "criminal aliens." ICE's "Operation Cross-Check" was conducted in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and Washington D.C. Note, however, that the Department of Homeland Security estimated in 2011 that there are about  10.8 million aliens in the U.S. without lawfulimmigration status.

The massive law enforcement effort, reports ABC OTUS News, "included more than 2,834 individuals who had prior criminal convictions. ICE officials noted that 50 gang members and 149 convicted sex offenders were nabbed. Although ICE has run similar operations called 'Cross-Check,' ICE Director John Morton said this was the largest to date."

KLTV reports that Operation Cross-Check "involved the collaboration of more than 1,900 ICE officers and agents from all of ICE's Enforcement and Removal Operations' (ERO) 24 field offices, assistance from ICE Homeland Security Investigations as well as coordination with our federal, state and local law enforcement partners throughout the United States. Arrests occurred in all 50 states, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, three U.S. territories and the District of Columbia."

ICE reports on its website that arrests were made "in all 50 states, the commonwealth of Puerto Rico, three Territories (Virgin Islands, N. Mariana Islands and Guam) and the District of Columbia."

ICE says that this most recent operation is the third nationwide "Cross Check operation" in its history. "The first nationwide Cross Check operation occurred at the end of May 2011 and resulted in the arrest of 2,442 convicted criminal aliens. The last Cross Check operation in September 2011 resulted in the arrest of 2,901 convicted criminal aliens."

To put those numbers in some perspective, we looked at the Government Accounting Office (GAO) website for information about "criminal aliens." We found a March, 2011 document titled "CRIMINAL ALIEN STATISTICS:Information on Incarcerations, Arrests, and Costs." On page two of that document (see the pdf) it says, "The number of criminal aliens in federal prisons in fiscal year 2010 was about 55,000, and the number of SCAAP criminal alien incarcerations in state prison systems and local jails was about 296,000 in fiscal year 2009 (the most recent data available)."

Even more telling, however, is an explanation (also on page two) of "Why GAO Did This Study." The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), it says, "estimated that as of fiscal year 2009 the total alien — nonU.S.-citizen — population was about 25.3 million, including about 10.8 million aliens without lawful immigration status."

In other words, the 3,168 criminal aliens arrested last week is a mere drop in the bucket of the total still at large, walking the streets of America.

Quadriplegic Illegal Alien Sent Back To Mexico from Oak Lawn IL

Oak Lawn, IL - An illegal immigrant from Mexico has been taken from Advocate Christ Medical Center, 4440 West 95th Street in Oak Lawn, a southwestern suburb of Chicago, and sent back to his hometown. Quelino Ojeda Jimenez was flown back to the town in which he was born in southern Mexico. Some folks are upset that he was sent back "against his will." While we sympathize with his medical condition, we cannot sympathize with a law breaker when the law comes back to deal with his transgressions. The L.A. Times has this: For almost four months, doctors and nurses at Advocate Christ Medical Center cared for the young Mexican laborer who had fallen from a roof and lost the ability to speak, breathe or move most parts of his body. But Quelino Ojeda Jimenez was in the U.S. illegally, and just before Christmas he was taken from the Oak Lawn hospital, loaded on an air ambulance and flown to Oaxaca, capital of the Mexican state where he was born. Full Story... The L.A. Times story goes on to say that his "abrupt departure, which Ojeda says was undertaken without his consent," has some Mexicans in Chicago upset. Perhaps those Mexicans should be more about upset about other things, such as the fact that Mexico is a corrupt nation of profound poverty, at war with itself and with little opportunity that treats many of its own people like dogs, which is what caused Ojeda Jimenez had to violate U.S. immigration laws. Perhaps the Mexicans in Chicago who are upset about his "abrupt departure" might consider that his abrupt illegal crossing of our border had something to do with his present medical state. Mr. Ojeda Jimenez was, after all, trespassing on U.S. soil without consent. Finally, it should also be remembered that Mexico treats those who cross its own borders illegally with brutality. Arizona Governor Using Obama Bucks For Border Security

Absolutely brilliant. Even as the Obama Regime tries to shut down Arizona's willingness to enforce existing immigration laws that the federal government allows to be violated, the governor of the embattled state makes a brilliant move: She's going to use Obama "stimulus" funds to help fight the border flood of illegal aliens. FoxNews reports: Gov. Jan Brewer, claiming to "reject" the Obama administration's assertion that the border is more secure than ever, announced Monday that she's directing $10 million in federal stimulus dollars to tackle smuggling and illegal immigration. On the same day the administration announced its plan to send 1,200 National Guard troops to the southwestern states, Brewer said she's sending the pot of stimulus money to more than a dozen border cities and counties -- as well as several tribes and the Arizona Department of Public Safety. She said the grant money would be targeted toward fighting drug trafficking, illegal immigration and human smuggling. More at FoxNews...

ACLU's Hypocritical Arizona Travel Alert

July 1, 2010 - The ACLU has issued a "travel warning" to people considering a visit to Arizona. According to FoxNews today: American Civil Liberties Union affiliates in Arizona, New Mexico and 26 other states put out the warnings in advance of the Fourth of July weekend. The Arizona chapter has received reports that law enforcement officers are already targeting some people even though the law doesn't take effect until July 29, its executive director said. The ACLU "warning" is incredibly - and typically - hypocritical. I'm not going to rehash the virtues of the Arizona law (SB1070) here. Instead, let's wonder here why the ACLU and others are so concerned about Arizona's alleged human rights violations, while they give the Toilet Republic of Mexico a free pass for its own gross and well-documented brutal treatment of foreigners on its own soil. Some examples: Migrants assaulted by federal agents return to their country (English tranlation from Migrantes asaltados por federales regresan a su país, June 14, 2010) As has happened in other occasions earlier this year, Mexican federal police in Chahuites, state of Oaxaca, assaulted some 300 Central American migrants riding a freight train. A priest from a shelter for transients in that area said that, “As in the previous two assaults, the agents acted brutally……..and kicked them while (the victims) were face down on the ground.” After the assault, a group of migrants complained to the National Human Rights Commission with the help of the local Salvadoran Consul. But afterward, federal police agents threatened them with firearms and demanded that they retract the allegations in front of video cameras. Soldiers deployed in counternarcotics operations have engaged in grave abuses, such as killings, torture, rape, and beatings. Each time that civilians are abused, Mexican soldiers contribute to the climate of violence and lawlessness in which the cartels thrive. The victims have been identified as Beatriz Cariño, director of the Mexican human rights group CACTUS, and Jyri Antero Jaakkola, a human rights observer from Finland. They were traveling as part of a convoy attempting to deliver aid to a town that’s been targeted by paramilitary blockades since the 2006 uprising against Governor Ulises Ruiz. The panel says at least 61 journalists have been killed in Mexico since 2000 -- 12 last year and four so far in 2010. Updated: Milwaukee County Supervisor Unaware Arizona Borders Mexico

Geography challenged: Peggy West

She is, perhaps, the dumbest person ever to serve in elected office anywhere in Wisconsin. Perhaps in the entire United States, for that matter. That's Peggy Romo West, 12th District Supervisor on the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors.

In June, 2010, West said that she could not understand why Arizona has such an issue with immigration, and demonstrated her stunning ignorance of geography to boot. The video (watch it below) is amazing. A possible boycott of Arizona was discussed at the June 24 County Board meeting. Here's a partial transcript of what West said:

"If this was Texas," said West, "which is a state that is directly on the border, with Mexico, and they were calling for a measure like this, saying that they had a major issue with, you know, undocumented people flooding their borders, I would say, I would, I would have to look twice at this. But this [Arizona] a state that is a ways removed from the border, and, uhm, it just, it doesn't make sense to me, that, when, you Google this subject, if you put in 'Arizona SB1070' that you see a picture of the governor of Arizona meeting with President Obama in May of 2010. If you have direct linkage to the President, there are already National Guard troops on the border, in Arizona..."

West is so ignorant that she doesn't know that Arizona shares a long border with Mexico, and she could not fathom why it is that there are National Guard troops stationed there. Fortunately, Milwaukee County Supervisor Joe Rice straightened her out.

Has Peggy West ever seen a map of Los Estados Unidos? 

"I just wanted to assure my colleague that Arizona does in fact share a border with the country of Mexico," Rice says in the video. The proposed boycott of Arizona was tabled for later discussion. West favors boycotting Arizona, but she clearly has no understanding of the Arizona border issues. Sadly, that's typical for many who favor the boycott.

West spoke of searching for "Arizona SB1070" on Google, yet she apparently never actually read any of the results that Google presented to her. No doubt, she's probably never read SB1070, either. West is apparently aware that National Guard troops are "on the border," but which border did she think they were on? Had West simply searched for "Arizona" on Google, she might have seen the pretty pictures (maps) of Arizona that clearly show it bordering Mexico.

West's website brags that she "has the unique distinction of being the first Latino/Hispanic American to be elected to the Milwaukee County Board." She's probably also the first person to be elected to that body who to be unaware that Arizona shares a border with Mexico, which is especially weird for someone who wears their Latino heritage on their sleeve.

Milwaukee radio station WTMJ 620 AM commented, "It's scary that Peggy West is making decisions that impact on the taxes that those of us in Milwaukee County pay. What's even scarier though is that I'll bet at least eight other members of the County Board agreed with her when she said that Arizona doesn't share a border with Mexico."

Scary indeed, but Democrat and liberal voters just love idiots like West. Think of Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Georgia), the brilliant Democrat who told a Congressional hearing that he feared the island of Guam would capsize if more military personnel were stationed there. Sadly, dimwits such as West and Johnson do not stop the libs from claiming to be intellectually superior to subhuman conservatives.

From the Milwaukee County website: Peggy West was elected 12th District Supervisor in 2004 and, after being reelected in 2008, is serving her second term representing 50,000 residents on Milwaukee's south side. She currently serves as 2nd Vice-Chair on the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors. Supervisor West also has the unique distinction of being the first Latino/Hispanic American to be elected to the Milwaukee County Board.... Supervisor West was named the 2004 Hispanic Woman of the Year by UMOS, Inc.

The local Latino/Hispanic Americans must be very proud of her. And why not? She's a genius with an impressive command of current events and an education that's perfect for a government apparatchik:

Supervisor West grew up in Milwaukee and graduated with a degree in Human Services from the Milwaukee Area Technical College. Prior to her election to the Board, Supervisor West worked for 10 years in the human service field.

U.S. Senator Jon Kyl, (R-Arizona), sent a letter to West with some helpful information:  "You will be interested to learn that Arizona does indeed share a border with Mexico," Senator Kyl wrote. "I have enclosed a map for your convenience. I hope you will take the time to actually read the Arizona law before formulating an opinion about it and become familiar with our country's geography and the challenges that our border states face." Kyl, a conservative, had to school liberal Peggy West on 4th grade U.S. geography.

Perhaps the most disturbing aspect of this entire story is this: West serves as a mentor at Notre Dame Middle School. There, she can indoctrinate young minds into her anti-American socialist way of thinking. Just don't ask the kids about geography at Notre Dame.

How California Penal Code Deals With Immigration

Barack Obama, Eric Holder and most other Democrats criticized Arizona's recently passed immigration law (SB1070) even before they read it (have they read it yet?). That didn't stop them, and other morons such as Chicago aldermen, from calling supporters of SB1070 Nazis and demanding a boycott of Arizona. But... Have they read Section 833-851.90 of the California Penal Code? They might want to call for a boycott of California and calling residents of that state Nazis, too. 834b. (a) Every law enforcement agency in California shall fully cooperate with the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service regarding any person who is arrested if he or she is suspected of being present in the United States in violation of federal immigration laws. (b) With respect to any such person who is arrested, and suspected of being present in the United States in violation of federal immigration laws, every law enforcement agency shall do the following: (1) Attempt to verify the legal status of such person as a citizen of the United States, an alien lawfully admitted as a permanent resident, an alien lawfully admitted for a temporary period of time or as an alien who is present in the United States in violation of immigration laws. The verification process may include, but shall not be limited to, questioning the person regarding his or her date and place of birth, and entry into the United States, and demanding documentation to indicate his or her legal status. (2) Notify the person of his or her apparent status as an alien who is present in the United States in violation of federal immigration laws and inform him or her that, apart from any criminal justice proceedings, he or she must either obtain legal status or leave the United States. (3) Notify the Attorney General of California and the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service of the apparent illegal status and provide any additional information that may be requested by any other public entity. (c) Any legislative, administrative, or other action by a city, county, or other legally authorized local governmental entity with jurisdictional boundaries, or by a law enforcement agency, to prevent or limit the cooperation required by subdivision (a) is expressly prohibited.

CNN's Jack Cafferty Scolds Obama for Stand on Arizona Immigration Law

Hot Video: Wow, I don't often agree with Jack Cafferty, but he hit the nail on the head with this op-ed. Speaking on CNN's "Situation Room" recently, Cafferty lambasted Obama and Democrats in Congress for their hypocritical criticism of Arizona's recently passed tough immigration law. Said Cafferty, "Washington's position on illegal immigration is patently dishonest from the top down. No enforcement, no border security, just pandering to Hispanic voters and the corporations that hire the illegals." He went on to say that when Arizona, a state "being ravaged by the presence of 460,000 illegal aliens inside its borders does something about it, the President says that's misguided. What a shame."  Cafferty chastised Obama by saying, "What's misguided, Mr. President, is the Federal Government's ongoing refusal to enforce the laws that are already on the books. Protesters at Wrigley Field Demand Arizona Boycott

April 29, 2010 - CHICAGO - VIDEO: About 100 protesters in Chicago gathered at Wrigley Field to demand a total boycott of all Arizona businesses, products and services. The group called for a boycott as way of protesting Arizona's recently passed immigration law, which they call "racist." The event at Wrigley was not very large and was peaceful. The protesters, standing at the corner of N. Clark and W. Auntie Zeituni, Above the Law

So, Obama's illegal alien auntie gets special treatment by the legal systems. She's been living in the U.S. illegally for years, and was told to get out years ago. On Wednesday, April 1, she avoided deportation after a brief hearing in a Boston courthouse. Zeituni Onyango (pronounced "i(l)-ˈlē-gəl \ˈā-lē-ən") is still here. At age 56, she has been given another ten months to prepare for a new "asylum bid." Onyango is a half-sister of Obama's deceased father. She is mentioned in Obama's book, “Dreams from My Father." Fox News reported that "The judge pushed back her case until next February [2010] because of his packed schedule. Onyango, who is a Kenyan citizen, wore a curly red wig, fur coat and sunglasses to the hearing. The president has said that laws covering her situation should be followed." Incredibly, Usurper in Chief Barack Obama has said he was unaware of her immigration issues (source). That is most likely a lie, according to a November 2008 article in The American Spectator (emphasis added): Some Obama aides believe that Obama was briefed at least twice by [David] Axelrod or campaign manager David Plouffe on the status of family members. "We tracked who was talking to the press, we kept in touch with some of these people," says an Obama campaign media aide. "Anyone who thinks we didn't doesn't understand just how nervous we were about all of these people, particularly the members of [Obama's] father's family. Axelrod had everything covered." The aide said she was never present for such a briefing, but "we all knew the candidate's family was being taken care of, to protect their privacy and try to contain any damage." Full Article... "Auntie Zeituni" has been violating federal immigration laws, and has been in contempt of court, for years. Reuters explains: In 2001 she received a U.S. Social Security card after proving she was in the United States legally and the following year she sought political asylum due to violence in Kenya. She applied to live in a public housing project in Boston. A federal immigration judge rejected her asylum request in 2004, ordering her to leave the country. She remained in Boston. Groups called for the woman's arrest, but that didn't happen. (I thought we were a nation of laws. I thought we were all treated equally by those laws. In the United States, I've been told, nobody is above the law. Alas, we've been mislead.) Reuters has more: President Barack Obama's Kenyan aunt, who was ordered deported five years ago, can stay in the United States legally until next year when she makes a new asylum bid, an immigration judge ruled on Wednesday. The issue of her immigration status flared three days before Obama was elected the first African-American president in the November 4, 2008 election. His late father was from Kenya and his white mother, also deceased, was American. While she's in the country, Auntie Illegal Alien continues to suck our tax dollars. She lives in a South Boston housing project (tax dollars) and takes public aid (tax dollars). You don't live in Boston? Don't kid yourself, Kansas, Iowa, Texas and the rest of you, a lot of federal money goes into those welfare programs, and that money comes out of your wallets too. The Obama's earn over $600,000 per year from salaries and books. Can't they at least pay his aunt's rent, so she can get out of public housing, while she stalls, delays and avoids a legal deportation order? Party Crashers Ask "Where's My Free Drink?"

I'll catch hell for this, but here goes. Chi-Town Daily News ran a story yesterday (Feb. 9) with the tug-on-yer-heartstrings title, "As economy falters, some immigrants excluded from safety net." Megan Cottrell wrote the piece. An excerpt: Bernardo Barra says he stopped going to church when he no longer had any money to put in the offering plate. "It was very sad. No job. No apartment. No money in my pocket," says Barra, 65. The last two years have been difficult for Barra. After 15 years of working in the United States after coming here from Costa Rica, he could no longer find work in factories, restaurants and hotels and became homeless. Very sad, indeed. It truly is. Ms. Cottrell reveals, in her fourth paragraph, that Mr. Barra is in the US illegally: Most people in Barra's situation would apply for unemployment, job training or food stamps. But these resources just aren't an option. Barra is an illegal immigrant who cannot get a social security number, so most programs that could help him get back on his feet are closed to him. Well, yah, they're closed to him. They're supposed to be. Those are the rules, and Mr. Barra and millions like him are not following them. I suppose we should credit Mr. Barra for not buying a fake social security card from Elias Munoz (father of Chicago Ald. Ricardo Munoz, 22nd Ward). Elias Munoz was sentenced on January 6 to a four year prison stretch for participating in a fake ID ring that catered primarily to people in the US illegally. The feds broke up that operation in April, 2007, but before it was stopped hundreds of thousands of fake IDs were produced and distributed. (Also see a video report from CBS-2 Chicago) Thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands of Americans are right now sharing their identities with immigrants and don't know it. It is the dirty little secret of the immigration issue: By not dealing directly with the undocumented worker situation, the U.S government is actually encouraging identity theft. He hasn't so far, and missed an opportunity yesterday (Feb. 9) during his press conference about the so-called "stimulus" legislation: Left out of the debate is any talk of the leaks in the ceiling -- gaping holes many of them now -- which is how the floor got to where it was. The flaws in this ceiling -- outsourcing, offshoring, illegal immigration, free trade and sundry other Friedman's Follies, will remain where they are, stimulus or no stimulus. Citizens of this nation and our non-citizen brothers and sisters who are here legally are suffering too. For every job that an illegal alien takes, it's a job that somebody here legally is denied. For every social service provided for an illegal alien, that's a pocketful of tax money pulled from people here legally. It doesn't matter if you're from another country, what race or ethnicity people are. This is not, as many Leftists and Liberals like to paint it, a race issue. It's a legal issue, period. If somebody came from Uganda or Mexico or Sweden or China, and they're here legally, God bless them. Welcome to America, a so-called "nation of laws." If you're here illegally, get the hell out, or at the very least, be polite while you're crashing the party and don't have the gaul to complain to the host that you're drink isn't being refilled. Ms. Cottrell's article continues: The problem is widespread. Rosa Perea, assistant director of the Centro Communitario Juan Diego in South Chicago, says she is often moved to tears after visiting undocumented families in her neighborhood. Is Ms. Perea "moved to tears" by the thousands of black youths in Chicago who cannot find work because illegal aliens undercut them in the job market? Is Ms. Perea "moved to tears" by the hospitals closing down all over the country, many of which shut down because they've been overburdened by illegals demanding services that the federal government never reimburses them for? If she is, and if she said that to Ms. Cottrell, the quote was omitted. Ms. Cottrell's feel-guilty-for-the-party-crasher article wound down with a knee-jerk, predictable ending, wherein she quotes Bernadette Sanchez, associate professor of psychology at DePaul University: That kind of hope, Sanchez says, is something every American can understand. She points to a sign at the North side community organization, Centro Romero, that reads "No hay ser humano es ilegal" - "No human being is illegal." Big Brother would love that phrase. It's pure Orwell, and as such it muddles the issue ingeniously. Critics of illegal immigration have never and would never say that any human is illegal. But the phrase is, frankly, designed to appeal to stupid people who are incapable of critical thinking. Consider a man who crashes a party in your home. You ask him to leave. He refuses, then insists that you give him more beer and chips. You call the police to have him removed. The party crasher calls a bunch of his friends on his cell phone and tells them to get over to your address, pronto. The police arrive and find a bunch of the crasher's friends outside your home chanting, "No human is illegal! No human is illegal!" The cops back down and let the crasher stay in your kitchen, consuming your chips and drinking your beer. You're advised that if the man wants to sleep in your bed after the party, there's really nothing they can do about it because they're overburdened as it is. Ridiculous? Sure, but that's essentially what is happening nationwide. People come into this country (our home, our house) and crash the party. While no human is "illegal," plenty of humans act illegally. If a man is shooting deer without a hunting permit, he's an illegal hunter. He is hunting illegally. If a man enters a nation illegally, he is committing illegal immigration. He is an illegal immigrant. Why is that so difficult to understand, and why to so many fools swallow and regurgitate the phrase, "No human is illegal?" To call them "illegal immigrants" is not the same as calling them "illegal humans." Idiocy is the ground in which Liberalism sprouts best, and its poison seeds have been spread in the fertile soil for decades. The harvest is moronic statements such as "no human is illegal" being taken as legitimate political and legal argument. We look forward to Chi-Town Daily News running a piece about the economic disaster wrought upon this nation as the direct result of millions of humans being here illegally. We'll wait with fingers crossed, but we doubt we'll see it. New Lawsuit Demands Arrest of Obama's Aunt

Barack Obama's auntie Zeituni has been living in the US for years as an illegal alien. She's ignored the authorities. Obama has known about her for years. She's been given a pass for years. More than 500,000 illegal immigrants are ignoring court orders to leave the US. That's in addition, of course, to the tens of millions of illegal immigrants who are also in the US but just don't have court orders yet to leave. Look at the unemployment situation in your neighborhood, folks, and see how many teens are without work even though they're looking. Then go to your neighborhood pizzeria and look in the kitchen. Visit your local McDonalds. Look at them and see illegal immigrants taking jobs that, according to the Big Lie, "Americans don't want." Then ask those neighbor kids - the ones here legally, that is - if they'd like to have the jobs that the illegals have stolen from them. BOSTON – An estimated half-million immigrants are living in the United States in defiance of deportation orders....U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has stepped up efforts to catch fugitive aliens, as they are known, and now has about 100 "fugitive operations teams" around the country. In the past year, the teams have made 34,000 arrests, more than double the number two years ago. But there are still 560,000 such immigrants in the U.S. Fugitive aliens include people who, like Obama's aunt, sought asylum in the United States but were rejected and ordered to leave the country. FEDS BUST "SLAVE LABOR" IN MISSISSIPPI

Agriprocessors is in big trouble, a kosher food processing plant, and they just got busted big time. Today it was for "nearly 600 suspected illegal aliens" in their employ, but The Bench sniffed around and found that only a few weeks ago they were charged with employing over 50 under-age workers. It is being reported late this afternoon by AP that "Federal officials say nearly 600 suspected illegal immigrants were detained in a raid on a manufacturing plant in southern Mississippi, making it the largest such sweep in the country." [Source] On August 5, however, it was reported by the New York Times that Mississippit State labor investigators "identified 57 under-age workers who were employed at a kosher meatpacking plant in Postville, Iowa, and have asked the attorney general to bring criminal charges against the company for child labor violations." LIKE SLAVE LABOR Back on July 27, the NY Times reported that some of the illegal aliens were also under-age: One, a Guatemalan named Elmer L. who said he was 16 when he started working on the plant’s killing floors, said he worked 17-hour shifts, six days a week. In an affidavit, he said he was constantly tired and did not have time to do anything but work and sleep. “I was very sad,” he said, “and I felt like I was a slave.” FULL STORY...
