Quinn, Hynes Vie for 'Church Clown' Title

By Michael Coyne This past Sunday, January 31, the two Democratic primary candidates for Illinois Governor—Pat Quinn and Dan Hynes—spent the day courting a crucial part of any Democrat’s electoral strategy: the Black Vote. African-Americans break heavily for Democrats according to all polling data available in recent history. Therefore, it is no surprise that both Quinn and Hynes were relying on this critical group to break for them. What is amusing is the fact that they both spent their Sundays in prominent black churches on Chicago’s South Side. Trying to be ‘relatable’ Taking this move at face value and ignoring the religious aspect for a moment, it makes sense, in an ironic humor sort of way. Politicians have to go where the voters are, and, in this case, they were at church. The message of both campaigners was simply, “see, I’m just like you.” This, in itself, is riotous. Two men, who would be remarkably white even if they stood next to the population of Sweden, were jockeying for the black vote by going to a massive black church. No, they did not stand out at all. Dopey PC Stigma When did it become such a crime to be white? Yes, the president is black. I honestly could not care less what color a politician’s skin is, so much as proving that we believe in the same political ideals. It sometimes seems like conservatives are the only ones who actually want to stop using race as a yardstick for successes and failures. Truthfully, I would think substantially less of a politician who came to my church to grasp at votes, regardless of what color he or she was. HWJV? – How Would Jesus Vote? Yes, it is common for Democratic candidates to attend churches to stump for votes. Nevertheless, it is absurd. It is incomprehensible to me that the same party that detests any sort of religious expression in public is completely fine with desecrating a house of God by using it to shill for votes. I could even justify standing outside a church, temple, or mosque to pass out literature as people left. However, attending a service merely to be seen is unsettling. This is little more than a parable of how far today’s political situation has gone. For more conservative commentary, visit Michael Coyne’s RepublicanBlue. Andrzejewski Endorsements Keep Coming

Andrzejewski Earns Endorsement From Former Congressional Candidate Jeff Danklefson (press release) Elmhurst, Illinois – Conservative candidate for Governor, Adam Andrzejewski (And-GEE-EFF-Ski) has received overwhelming support from conservatives both nationally and internationally. Former Congressional candidate in the 14th District, Jeff Danklefson, joins a long list of respected conservative leaders who have endorsed Andrzejewski. In his endorsement letter to Andrzejewski, Danklefson comments: “Adam Andrzejewski’s message of personal liberty, budget reform, and the willingness to confront political corruption has energized voters in Illinois. Adam’s experience in the private sector of job creation and fighting for the taxpayer offer voters a candidate for Governor with a unique background. Adam is not beholden to the political class in Springfield and he has the budgetary solutions to address Illinois’ deficit. The Republican Party has an opportunity to elect a man on February 2nd who can bring integrity back to Illinois.” "This endorsement means a lot to me. Jeff is a great man. He fought hard to bring reform to the 14th District. We have not seen the last of Jeff in politics. He excited the base and had the support of the tea party. I'm proud to have him stand with me as we fight the establishment in Illinois," says Andrzejewski. Among the prominent conservatives who have expressed their support for Andrzejewski are former Polish President Lech Walesa; American Radio host, author, and conservative political commentator Laura Ingraham; AOL Political Daily columnist Matt Lewis; and author and Regional Coordinator of the Tea Party Patriots in Illinois Robert Moon. Andrzejewski, Striking Fear Into the Hearts of the Old Guard

Adam Andrzejewski is the best choice for governor that Illinois has had in a long time. A very long time. He's the kind of guy the voters should love... and the type that the RINOs and sell-outs hate.

From RedState.com, Jan. 28, 2010: Everyone these days calls their candidate a Rubio. Guess what? Andrzejewski is a [Marco] Rubio — well spoken, attractive, conservative to his core, and with a zealous band of conservative supporters. Oh, and he strikes fear and dread into the heart of the old guard Republicans who led Illinois off the cliff into the hands of an even more corrupt Democrat Party. Full Article at RedState...

McKenna Slammed in Party Ethics Investigation

by Warner Todd Huston Early this month Illinois Republican Party Chairman Pat Brady revealed that the state party decided to officially reprimand former GOP Chairman Andy McKenna for misuse of party funds and ethics violations. Despite his ethics violations as chairman, McKenna went ahead and launched his bid to become our next Illinois Governor anyway. Should McKenna win office we'll have gone from one ethically ignorant Governor (George Ryan), to a second (Rod Blagojevich) to a third (McKenna). Illinois is already a laughing stock of corruption, why vote for McKenna and make it worse? Anyway, today the State Journal-Register in Springfield (the State Capitol) released some more information about Andy McKenna's ethics violations and the party's reaction to it.
“The Chairman’s office never informed the Illinois Republican State Central Committee of intent to commission this poll, nor did Andrew McKenna ever request approval to conduct this poll from the … Committee,” the report by the ethics committee of the state party said of the poll, which was done by The Tarrance Group at a cost of $28,300. “At no point before, during or after this poll was taken did the ... Committee receive disclosure from Andrew McKenna pursuant to provisions of the … Committee’s Code of Ethics concerning potential personal benefit, appearance of potential personal benefit or appearance of impropriety.”
How can any Republican support Andy McKenna? With the regrettable political climate that the Democrats have foisted on us here in Illinois why continue that mess under a Republican administration as McKenna will surely do? With this 2010 election we have a chance for real, substantive change in Illinois. Let's not throw it all away by voting for your Judy Baar Topinkas, Jim Ryans and Andy McKennas. Let's not stay with the good old boy network that destroyed the Illinois GOP, shall we? Lech Wałesa to Speak at Andrzejewski Fundraiser, January 29

Chicago - Legendary anti-communist hero, former President of Poland, and Nobel Peace Prize winner Lech Walesa will be the keynote speaker at fundraising event for Adam Andrzejewski (an-gee-EFF-ski), Republican candidate for Governor of Illinois at the Union League Club of Chicago on Friday, January 29, 2010 at 12:00 PM CST. President Walesa is expected to speak about post-Communist Poland as well as comment on Mr. Andrzejewski’s campaign for Governor. (Ticket information here.) Walesa will also speak at a private breakfast meeting the same day. Adam Brickely writes about Walesa's place as a giant of history. "Lech Walesa, along with Reagan, Thatcher, and Pope John Paul II was one of the biggest forces in bringing down communism – and his name carries extra weight in Illinois. There are more than one million Polish-Americans in Chicago alone, making them the largest Caucasian ethnic group in the city. Mobilizing Chicagoan Polonia (which is politically under-represented) could indeed be a key to an Andrzejewski victory – and if any living individual can mobilize Polonia it is Lech Walesa." Andrzejewski recalls his recent journey to Poland. "I traveled to Poland on a four-day fact-finding trip between November 30, 2009 and December 3, 2009, to discover how the State of Illinois can improve its economic and cultural relationship with the Republic of Poland in order to promote job growth, economic vitality, and increased international trade between the two.... In addition to serving as the elected President of the Republic of Poland from 1990 to 1995, Mr. Wałęsa is the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize (1983) after being imprisoned by Communist authorities for his opposition to General Wojciech Jaruzelski, the leader of Poland’s military government." Andrzejewski Congratulates Scott Brown, Tea Party Patriots

Elmhurst, Illinois - January 20, 2010 - Conservative Republican candidate for Governor, Adam Andrzejewski, released the following statement in response to Senator-Elect Scott Brown’s victory last night in the Massachusetts special election for United States Senate: “Congratulations to Senator-Elect Scott Brown, the citizens of Massachusetts, and the tea party patriots on their historic victory tonight. The voters sent a strong message that the “Kennedy” seat belongs to the people and the people will not stand for big government.” The downstate Herscher, IL native issued a congratulatory video response, which can be found on his YouTube Channel or by visiting http://bit.ly/5uCUIg. James Madison in 1788, speaking to the Virginia Convention, stated: “Since the general civilization of mankind, I believe there are more instances of the abridgment of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachment of those in power, than by violent and sudden usurpations.” The victory in Massachusetts is a referendum on government encroachment and draws a line in the sand that Congress dare not cross. As Dr. Edwin Feulner, President of The Heritage Foundation warns, "There are no permanent victories in Washington." We must remain vigilant and continue to fight big government at all levels. With Republican victories in New Jersey and Massachusetts, we must now turn our attention to our own state. We have the opportunity to make Illinois the beacon of conservative values and principles in the United States. We are no longer the silent majority. It is time to forge a new day in Illinois. A New Day video can be found on Andrzejewski's WhyVoteAdam.com YouTube Channel, or by visiting http://whyvoteadam.com/?p=21. ### For more information on Adam's response to the historic Tea Party movement, or to schedule an interview, please contact Brett Haase brett@adamforillinois.com or 773.344.7632 Leave a Comment * Conservative T-Shirts * Follow CNB on Twitter * RSS Feed

Illini For a Better Illinois Endorses Andrzejewski for Governor

Press Release from Illini For a Better Illinois: Champaign, IL - January 15, 2010 - The executive board of Illini for a Better Illinois would like to announce our first endorsement. We are a non-partisan organization seeking to contribute to student’s electoral activity and a better understanding of the candidates. After researching next years election, we have found a candidate that truly epitomizes the values essential for a government that truly represents the people of Illinois. As the director of a Government accountability agency, Adam Andrzejewski had single-handedly pioneered a movement that has made Illinois second in the nation in school transparency and created a great deal of accountability in counties and cities throughout the state. Adam has already taken a stand on many issues we need addressed such as corruption, property taxes, job growth, the budget, health care, and the education system. He supports legislation that would prevent the government from invading on anyone's conscience. He believes that putting every dime of government spending online can prove to be integral in promoting transparency and accountability in all government offices- as evidenced by his activism in many counties, boards of education, and other bureaucracies. We need someone who hasn't been tainted by the system that allows popular officials to enjoy loopholes and ethical lapses, but punishes those who try to stand up to that system. True democracy thrives under a balance of power, not in a place where a single party has a super-majority of the House and Senate and effectively controls the executive. After Gov. Quinn’s ‘State of the State’ Address, Senator John Cullerton commented, “Republican Governors even before Ogilvie have shown no hesitance to raise taxes and fees. I am confident that, as they have in the past, republicans in the Senate and General Assembly will support increases in taxes and fees.” As most of us are working students paying the second highest county sales tax in the state, we cannot afford any more taxes and the republicans in office have proven to be no better at doing this than the democrats. Members of our group have identified Adam early in April and have been closely following his campaign since then. It is with pleasure that we announce our endorsement of Adam Andrzejewski. It is time for Illinois government to return to a path of fiscal responsibility and ethical accountability. We believe that his budget cuts, background, plan for ethical reform, ideas to make Illinois the magnet of job creation and 2 executive orders that will champion are unparalleled among the candidates from both parties and are best suited for the next Governor of Illinois. I encourage everyone to contact his campaign and to visit his website- http://www.adamforillinois.com/. It’s time that the people of Illinois had their turn running the state rather than insiders and corrupt public officials! We ask all people of goodwill to unite behind a candidate who will finally represent the hardworking taxpayers of Illinois for a change. http://www.peytonwolcott.com/temp/CheckRegisterRosterUSA.html (Link for Illinois School Transparency Rating) For more information, and to schedule interviews with Ms. Czarney contact her at mczarney263@gmail.com Leave a Comment * Conservative T-Shirts * Follow CNB on Twitter * RSS Feed

Andrzejewski "I'd Sell Official Illinois Luxury Aircraft"

Republican candidate for Illinois governor Adam Andrzejewski says that an ABC-Channel 7 (Chicago) report shows that the Illinois state budget priorities are "upside down." In response to Channel 7 investigative reporter Chuck Goudie's report on Wednesday evening (Nov. 18) about the cost of operating the state fleet of 16 aircraft, Andrzejewski says he would sell the $22 million air fleet, with the only exceptions being the two helicopters and certain planes used by the Illinois State Police. Andrzejewski re-emphasized his plan to "open up the books" in Springfield and conduct a forensic audit of the state's expenses. He pointed out that Channel 7's report indicated that state employees are using the planes regularly at a cost of $3,000 per hour totaling $4 million per year. "Real reform can only be the result of new people with new ideas in Springfield," Andrzejewski stated. "While the state wasn't paying social service providers, which in turn, forced them to lay off staff and cost the state jobs, these planes were flying," he said. "Illinois is in a budget crisis, and our state leadership is needlessly spending tax payer dollars. Billions of unnecessary spending will be uncovered by a forensic audit of expenses." Andrzejewski also made reference to a recent article in the Peoria Journal Star in which Governor Quinn was asked about the budget gap for fiscal year 2010, which puts it among the worst three states in the nation. That dismal ranking came from The Pew Center on the States report, which cites Illinois for a lack of fiscal discipline and failure to balance the state budget. Gov. Quinn's response was "I think we've done pretty well. We've stabilized the budget." However, Andrzejewski points out that the waste culprits are not only on the Democratic side. He recalled a conversation he had with senior GOP leaders at the United Republican Fund Anniversary Gala at the Hilton Chicago Hotel. "I mentioned to those at my table that I thought we should stop using the fleet so excessively, and sell the planes. To my dismay, the leaders at my table were firmly resistant to the idea." As governor, part of Andrzejewski's plan for reform would be a top-down transparency mandate by executive order to open up the books in Springfield. His second executive order would be a forensic top-to-bottom audit of state spending. He estimates that the savings of such measures could be $3-$5 billion. Conservative Caps, Shirt and more! Blago Spoof: Grand Theft Illinos

A friend of mine, who shall remain unnamed, sent me this bit of political spoofery. It already had everything in it, including the clever text, but I couldn't resist inserting Blagojevich's face. With apologies to the makers of "Grand Theft Auto," I also touched up the color a bit and enhanced all the lights on the pursuing police car. Private kudos to my unnamed friend for a fine bit of artistic commentary. Click image to make it embiggered. Subscribe to Chicago News Bench

It Ain't Over Yet For Rahm Emanuel: Subpoena Likely

Uh oh, trouble ahead for Team Obama. Associated Press is reporting that Obama's chief of staff-to-be, Rahm Emanuel, is likely to be subpoenaed by Gov. Blagojevich's attorney. This comes, as you probably know, on the heels of Team Obama declaring that it's own internal investigation turned up no wrongdoing in Emanael's dealings with Blago. We have yet to see an independent investigation of Obama's team members, by the way. (Had to take a break from my vacation to bring this to your attention, in case your spiked egg nog haze has kept you from paying attention to the news.) Among the others likely targeted for subpoenaes from Blago's legal team: Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr. (D-IL). BLAGO: NO MONDAY RESIGNATION

BLAGOGATE UPDATE: Bloomberg reports this afternoon that Gov. Blagojevich says he will NOT resign on Monday, as was previously rumored in the media. Dec. 14 (Bloomberg) -- Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich has no plans to resign tomorrow, a spokesman said, contradicting speculation by the state’s attorney general that the governor might quit in response to federal corruption charges. “Not true -- the Gov has no plans of resigning tomorrow,” Lucio Guerrero, a spokesman for Democrat Blagojevich, said today in an e-mailed statement. More from Bloomberg... Lucio Guerrero has been Director of Communications for Blagojevich since June, 2008. (Talk about a short gig.) Prior to working for Blago, he was the Director of Communications/Outreach/Research for the Cook County Assessor's Office. RELATED: Gov. Blagojevich seeks renowned criminal attorney’s opinion

RAHM EMANUEL URGED TO RESIGN

Barack Obama's chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, is being urged to resign. After days of insisting that the Obama team had no contact with Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich in connection with the alleged attempts by the governor to sell the US Senate seat vacated by Obama, it is now known that Emanuel did, in fact, discuss the seat with Blagojevich - and it was recorded by federal investigators during wire tapping sessions.

Question: Does Obama have control over his transition team? Does he know what's going on? Is he simply naive, or was he lying to us last week?

The Chicago Tribune reminded us of what Obama said late last week: Obama said Thursday he had never spoken to Blagojevich about the Senate vacancy and was "confident that no representatives" of his had engaged in any dealmaking over the seat with the governor or his team. He also pledged Thursday that in the "next few days" he would explain what contacts his staff may have had with the governor's office about the Senate vacancy. Full Article

Hizzonner Da Clown
The Trib, in the same article, notes: Rahm Emanuel, President-elect Barack Obama's pick to be White House chief of staff, had conversations with Gov. Rod Blagojevich's administration about who would replace Obama in the U.S. Senate, the Tribune has learned.

The Trib also noted that Emanuel "delivered" a list of Obama-approved candidates who would be "acceptable" to Obama. Comment: Are we to believe that Rahm Emanuel simply delivered that list, and that Blagojevich made no demands, or that Emanuel applied no pressure? Or both?

The International Herald Tribune reports that the "[Chicago] Tribune reported that communications between Emanuel and the Illinois governor, both Democrats, had been captured on court-approved wiretaps, but Obama associates gave conflicting accounts of the interactions." Full Article

The Australian newspaper reports: Rahm Emanuel has come under pressure to resign as Barack Obama's chief of staff after it was revealed he had been captured on court-approved wire taps discussing the names of candidates for Mr Obama's Senate seat. Mr Emanuel's presence at the heart of the scandal threatens to roil the US president-elect's administration as a Chicago prosecutor builds his corruption case against Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich. Full Story

The Australian's correspondent, Sarah Baxter, makes an interesting observation:

Mr Obama faces a stark choice. Mr Emanuel as his chief of staff was his first appointment after the election. If Mr Obama were to throw him out of the inner circle now with his reputation under siege, it would be a singular act of disloyalty before the transition team has even had a chance to take office. Mr Emanuel has yet to resign as a member of the House of Representatives for Illinois, although he has pledged to do so.

Another Reason to Cheer Blago's Downfall

Over a year ago, CNN exposed Rod Blagojevich as ... I'm lookin' for the word ... as a disloyal, oath breaking bastard. That's right, disloyal. He took an oath to uphold the US Constitution (among other things), and the Constitution gives only Congress the ability to set a uniform immigration policy. Blago, like a number of mayors and other governors, chose to set his own standards for immigration within the State of Illinois. Lou Dobbs had this stunning report, which features two Illinois Congressman, Peter Roskam and Rahm Emanuel and Governor Rod Blagojevich. (Mayor Daley and the Chicago City Clowncil are equally disloyal.)
