The Legend of Poopalosi and the Poop-Strewn Streets of San Francisco

Democrat Nancy Pelosi is the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives. As such, she is third in the line of succession for the Presidency. She's a politically powerful woman, and she lives in what could be called a literally shitty city.

San Francisco is Pelosi's home, and it has become legendary for the vast quantity of human feces strewn along its streets.

The city has a huge number of homeless people, many of whom are mentally ill. Many of them frequently poop on sidewalks and other public spaces. In October 2018 San Francisco was named the "Poop Capital of the U.S.," and the problem has only continued to get worse.

Which brings us to the wonderfully-titled video, "Nancy Pelosi vs The 'Sh%tposting' Crapper Bandit." Done by "Felix Rex" (one of my favorite YouTubers), the video examines what I'll call a "protest poop" laid down on Nancy Pelosi's driveway.

Yes, it's exactly what it sounds like. On Saturday, Sept. 12, a live-streamer called "Armando" set up his camera across from Pelosi's house, then strategically squatted in her driveway

The Atlantic Wrongly Calls California Largest State

March 21, 2015 - The Atlantic's editorial staff seems to be geographically challenged. The headline of a March 21 article is "The Economics of California's Drought," and has the unfortunate subhead of "What happens when the country's largest state runs low on water?" And there's the problem.

The article's author, Matt Schiavenza, might have meant to call California "the country's most populous state," but that's not what was written. Perhaps he meant to say, "the state with the country's largest population," but he didn't write that either.

Misleading subtitle in The Atlantic Wire
To be fair, headlines are often not written by the author but by an editor. Regardless of who writes them, headlines should not be vague, ambiguous or confusing.

In any case, the subtitle calls California "the country's largest state." Without qualifying that, by specifying population, it is misleading and unclear at best.

California has a lot more people than Texas and Alaska combined. According to the U.S. Census Bureau's 2010 Demographic Profile:

California had a population of 37,253,956 (ranked 1st).

Texas had a population of 25,145,561 (ranked 2nd).

Alaska had a population of 710,231 (ranked 47th).

But although California may have the biggest population of the 50 states, but in terms of geographic size it ranks third, behind Alaska and Texas. The U.S. Census Bureau says that the three largest states in 2008, by total area, were as follows:

Alaska had a total area of 664,988 sq. miles (ranked 1st)
Texas had a total area of 268,597 sq. miles (ranked 2nd)
California;had a total area of 163,694 sq. miles (ranked 3rd)

Alaska is waaaaay bigger than California
California was clearly a distant third in terms of size as recently as 2008. I strongly suspect that the total land areas of have not changed enough to have altered these states' size rankings. And to repeat myself, "largest state" and "largest population" are two very different things.

Of course, Schiavenza was writing about the water crisis in California, not about the size of the state. But he referred to another article with some probably-unintentional irony. "Earlier this month," he wrote, "the title of a Los Angeles Times op-ed published by Jay Famiglietti, senior water scientist at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory and a professor at UC Irvine, got right to the point: California would run out of water in a year. This headline—as Famiglietti himself pointed out—isn't exactly accurate."

Irony: Schiavenza's headline "isn't exactly accurate." And Schiavenza should know that LA Times op-ed was not "published by Jay Famiglietti." He wrote it. The LA Times published it.

Coding Bootcamps in California Struggle to Survive Regulation Overkill

January 31, 2014 - You would think that the government, at any level, would welcome and encourage anything that will help people get decent jobs. If so, your thinking is incorrect. Remember: Government is not interested in helping you, but only in helping the the government itself and the gray bureaucrats that cling to it like leaches. That's no truer anywhere than in over-regulated California.

"Don’t you dare attempt any constructive activity," notes Moonbattery with biting sarcasm, "especially something that will help alleviate unemployment, unless you have acquired approval and fully submitted to any conceivably applicable needless and cumbersome regulations -- even if bureaucrats’ glacial pace and pyramid-sized tangles of red tape would put you out of business."

Cowardly, Stupid California Cops, Firemen Let Man Die

June 1, 2011 - The headlines are misleading. Here's one example: "Budget cuts force Calif. police and firemen to watch man drown." Let's think about this, shall we? According to media reports today, cops and fire fighters simply watched as a man drowned two days ago "because of budget cuts." This is utterly shameful. "Police and firemen in Alameda, California watched a man drown on Monday," wrote Stephen C. Webster at rawstory.com, "after realizing they did not have proper certifications for water rescue, leaving them open to possible lawsuits if they attempted a rescue." Several things about that are extremely disturbing: (1) Are we to believe that none of those first responders knew that they lacked water rescue certification BEFORE they got to the scene of the drowning? (2) Even with certification, any first responder is "open to possible lawsuits" from litigious a-holes. (3) Even though I am not certified for water rescue, I would have tried to save another man's life rather than just watch him die, possible lawsuits be damned. It is distressing to think that the first responders of Alameda, California are so ill-informed of their own certification status and so afraid of possible legal action that they are essentially nothing more than useless lumps of human waster on the public payroll. Perhaps the most bizarre aspect of this entire story, however, is the fact Alameda is an island city, yet its first responders are not certified to do water rescues. It's being reported that the 53-year old drowning victim was thought to be suicidal as he waded out "about 150 yards into cold waters off of Crown Beach in Alameda. It's said by witnesses that it took nearly an hour for him to kill himself. ABC Local reported that the Alameda firefighters "could not even go into the water to get the body, so they waited until a woman in her 20s volunteered to bring the body back to the beach." ABC added that "Alameda fire officials say they are going to have a serious discussion about why Alameda, as an island city, does not have the ability to save people in danger in the water." How California Penal Code Deals With Immigration

Barack Obama, Eric Holder and most other Democrats criticized Arizona's recently passed immigration law (SB1070) even before they read it (have they read it yet?). That didn't stop them, and other morons such as Chicago aldermen, from calling supporters of SB1070 Nazis and demanding a boycott of Arizona. But... Have they read Section 833-851.90 of the California Penal Code? They might want to call for a boycott of California and calling residents of that state Nazis, too. 834b. (a) Every law enforcement agency in California shall fully cooperate with the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service regarding any person who is arrested if he or she is suspected of being present in the United States in violation of federal immigration laws. (b) With respect to any such person who is arrested, and suspected of being present in the United States in violation of federal immigration laws, every law enforcement agency shall do the following: (1) Attempt to verify the legal status of such person as a citizen of the United States, an alien lawfully admitted as a permanent resident, an alien lawfully admitted for a temporary period of time or as an alien who is present in the United States in violation of immigration laws. The verification process may include, but shall not be limited to, questioning the person regarding his or her date and place of birth, and entry into the United States, and demanding documentation to indicate his or her legal status. (2) Notify the person of his or her apparent status as an alien who is present in the United States in violation of federal immigration laws and inform him or her that, apart from any criminal justice proceedings, he or she must either obtain legal status or leave the United States. (3) Notify the Attorney General of California and the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service of the apparent illegal status and provide any additional information that may be requested by any other public entity. (c) Any legislative, administrative, or other action by a city, county, or other legally authorized local governmental entity with jurisdictional boundaries, or by a law enforcement agency, to prevent or limit the cooperation required by subdivision (a) is expressly prohibited.

Latino Farmers be Damned, Save the Minnow!

The environmentalists again prove how insane they are. Comedian Paul Rodriquez is very serious about this issue. He is the chair of the California Latino Water Coalition, and he's ticked off big time about the Federal Government shutting off water to farmers in order to save a two-inch fish that's not even endangered. Environmental insanity has caused a man-made drought, destroying crops, jobs and families. As Rodriquez says, "this is not the change we voted for." Hellish Fire Threatens Santa Barbara CA

May 6, 2009 - The Santa Barbara (California) Sheriff’s Department issued a following mandatory evacuation order due to the changing conditions of the Jesusita Fire. Authorities have not ruled out the possibility of arson. Anybody who has information about the original of these fires is asked to call a fire tipline at 805-686-5074. Anonymous tips are welcome. The evacuation order went out at 6:20 p.m. PST (4:20 pm CST) today. Earlier today, there was hope that the fire was coming under control, but around 6:00 pm local time, it suddenly burst back in a vicious way. The governor has also declared a state of emergency for the area. A brush fire consumed homes and raged out of control in the hills above Santa Barbara today, fueled by dry, hot winds that are expected to continue into the night. The fire burned through lush green canyons dotted with expensive homes, burning at least 12 structures and perhaps many more. The job of roughly 900 firefighters was hampered by poor access to the fire area, officials said, as well as winds of up to 50 mph and thick brush that hadn’t burned in a half-century. "We are in a state of extreme emergency,'' said David Sadecki, a spokesman for the Santa Barbara County Fire Department. "We're running very, very thin.'' Full Story at LA Times... Most Blacks, Latinos Voted For Proposition 8

Proposition 8, on California's ballot on Tuesday, Nov. 7, confirmed marriage in that state as being only between one man and one woman. Blacks and Latinos, wrote the Washington Post, are the ones who "drove a stake through the heart of same-sex marriage" by overwhelmingly voting in favor of Prop. 8. However, Sodom-Americans are unhappy that the people have spoken in a democratically held, free election. They have been busy protesting the vote cast by the people of California and vow to fight it, but at least one of their tactics is unfair: They are blaming the Mormons. Yah, a church over in Utah which had nothing to do with the passage of Prop. 8. Utah residents did not vote on California's ballots. It is doubtful that most Blacks and Latinos pay any attention to what the Church of the Latter Day Saints recommends. Rather, in large part, Blacks and Latinos overwhelmingly voter for Prop. 8. Ah, but the Democrats and the Far Left don't want that to be known, because then they'd have to lay blame on a huge part of their own constituency. In fact, they and their allies in the mainstream media are actively covering it up. A search today for the story online turned up this, at MSNBC: Most Calif. blacks backed proposition 8 53 percent of Latinos also supported the gay-marriage ban High black voter turnout helped pass Prop 8 Nov. 6: California voters narrowly approved a measure to ban same-sex marriage, reversing a court decision in May that allowed it. NBC's Pete Williams reports. The page you are seeking has expired and is no longer available at msnbc.com. However, it may be available at The Washington Post. So, MSNBC dropped the story. (Perhaps somebody at the DNC made a terse phone call.) When you try to follow the link over to the Washington Post, however, you land on a general page with nothing related to the story. After doing a search of the Post's site for "blacks, latinos, Proposition 8," we finally found "Most of California's Black Voters Backed Gay Marriage Ban: 53% of Latinos Also Supported Proposition 8" among other stories. Why the link was changed, thereby making the story difficult to find, is mysterious. To be fair, however, the Post did write a hard-hitting, straight talking (no pun intended) article. The first paragraph sums it up nicely, with a good example of the inverted pyramid: Any notion that Tuesday's election represented a liberal juggernaut must overcome a detail from the voting booths of California: The same voters who turned out strongest for Barack Obama also drove a stake through the heart of same-sex marriage. Did you catch that? Let's repeat it. "The same voters who turned out strongest for Barack Obama also drove a stake through the heart of same-sex marriage." Those "same voters" are none other than Blacks and Latinos, reliable lock-step Democrat voters on most issues. Not, however, on the issue of men marrying men or women marrying women. Meanwhile, we continue to see headlines such as "Citizens Rally Against Proposition 8." QUESTION: Why are we not seeing headlines that say, "Citizens Overwhelmingly Voted For Proposition 8?" ANSWER: The Leftists and their useful idiots are the ones writing the headlines in the news rooms.

FLASH: California Early Voting "Way Off"

This election is sooooooooo gonna be screwed up. I'm already preparing for a very long Election Night. Between the ACORN-style, outright voter fraud and crazy stuff like what's happening with early voting in California - and elsewhere - we might not know the true results of the 2008 Election until sometime in, oh, say, 2012. Of course, that's the end of the Mayan Calendar and we're all gonna die then. No, wait, according to Al Gore we only have, what, like three more years before we all burn up? Gad, I can't keep up with it all. Fortunately, Doug Ross @ Journal sleeps even less than I do, apparently. He posted about the insane numbers coming out of California's early voting. "Ignore the pundits," writes Doug, "Forget the polls....The results in California show the wisdom of Yogi Berra who said, 'It's not over until it's over.'" Yogi Berra didn't have to contend with ACORN and Democrat precinct captains, however.
