The Green Police Are Already Here

Audi's Super Bowl commercial (see it below) was not only funny, it's frighteningly accurate as a look into the future of American freedoms - and the lessening thereof. The ad pokes fun at "green laws," and shows people being arrested by Eco Fascists for doing things deemed environmentally irresponsible. The scenes in the ad, however, are really not so exaggerated. As reported here in December of 2007, Congress passed a law that will force us all to replace the incandescent bulb with the compact fluorescent lightbulb (CFL), requiring that traditional bulbs be phased out by 2020. You got that? It will be illegal to use a normal, incandescent light bulb. The new CFLs contain mercury, and dropping one literally creates a hazmat situation. Watch the video, then we'll continue.... Environmentalists show their true colors in the case of CFL bulbs. Many of the environmental laws are more about control of people than about protection of the environment, and the environmentalists unwittingly admit this. An example of this comes from "Indranil M." in an article he wrote at Gather.com (emphasis added): "Though these CFL bulbs contain mercury and are Hazardous to the environment, because of which they also happen to be non-Biodegradable. But there is no need to worry. There are web sites like energy star and earth911 which will give you proper instructions for its disposal without harming the environment." "No need to worry?" Nah! When that CFL burns out, just seek out the complicated instructions for disposal, and be sure to follow them lest you pose a health risk to yourself. Read what the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) advises if if a mercury-containing light bulb breaks. It's laughable. Compare that to tossing the harmless incandescent bulbs into your trash bin and forgetting about it. How can environmentalists and their Liberal sympathizers justify this as a move to protect the environment? Well, they can't really, not logically. Latino Farmers be Damned, Save the Minnow!

The environmentalists again prove how insane they are. Comedian Paul Rodriquez is very serious about this issue. He is the chair of the California Latino Water Coalition, and he's ticked off big time about the Federal Government shutting off water to farmers in order to save a two-inch fish that's not even endangered. Environmental insanity has caused a man-made drought, destroying crops, jobs and families. As Rodriquez says, "this is not the change we voted for." Animal Rights Goon on FBI Most Wanted List

"The only purpose of adding this shrapnel is
to cause damage or bodily harm to people"

Daniel Andreas San Diego has not, as far as we know, attended any Tea Party protests, yet he on the FBI's Most Wanted List of Domestic Terrorists. Is he there for alleged "right-wing extremism?" Nope, he's there because he allegedly bombed in the name of saving puppies.

I must say that I love animals and support reasonable anti-cruelty efforts. I stop supporting such efforts somewhere short of blowing up buildings and fellow humans, however. Not San Diego and whackjobs like him, though. To them, one puppy's life is worth more than a hundred humans.

Daniels Andreas an Diego should be considered armed and dangerous. He was associated with an animal rights group called Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty (HAC). According to Fox News, the group targeted Chiron Corporation in Emeryville, California and its employees in August, 2003 "with a wave of intimidation tactics meant to terrorize workers and drive the company out of business. Other activists had been following workers to their homes and posting fliers accusing them of being 'puppy killers.' Some even went to the employees' children's schools and continued their intimidation there."

Stalking children and entering school property as they did is probably illegal. Even so, HAC was not known for blowing things up. San Diego went beyond the group's usual methods. A month after the Chiron attack, San Diego allegedly left a bomb "strapped with nails at the Pleasanton, Calif., headquarters of Shaklee Corporation, which makes eco-friendly products like vitamins and shampoos." According to AnimalScam.com, San Diego "allegedly attacked these firms because of their business relationship with a New Jersey research facility called Huntingdon Life Sciences. Huntingdon uses animals in its work toward curing AIDS, cancer, and Parkinson's disease."

AnimalScam posted copies of the FBI's list of 96 items found in San Diego's apartment at 2570 Acacia Avenue in Sonoma, CA when they searched it on October 8,2003. Some of those items are revealing:
  • 3 shirts one say ELF [Earth Liberation Front]
  • 3 t-shirts (1 animal lib)
  • 1 expired US passport in the name of Andreas San Diego
  • Joy of Revenge book
  • posters of Red Brigade
  • potential ammonium nitrate prills [sic] with unknown liquid SUSPECTED EXPLOSIVE
  • 3 video tapes labeled "Animal Liberation Front," "Breaking Free," "Video Magazine issues 1 and 2"
  • two boxes of 9mm ammo found in black duffle bag
  • Lab Animal magazine and ARDAC [Animal Rights Direct Action Coalition] flyer found inside night stand
  • case to HK 9mm pistol, SN 709031 found inside nightstand
  • ARDAC Animal Rights rosters
  • E-mail re Chiron found under bed
  • 7 ALF t-shirts
  • 20 books relating to animal rights and dissenters
  • Black pipe and end caps found on floor
  • various books on bombs, fire and animal rights found on bookshelf
  • bag of Radio Shack snap connectors
  • Records of firearms purchase
  • Empty box of 9mm black talon ammo
  • USDA reports found inside box
  • Unknown white powder substance
In December, 2003, SFGate.com reported this (emphasis added): "The device left at Shaklee was covered with nails to create shrapnel, said Andy Traver, assistant special agent in charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. "The only purpose of adding this shrapnel is to cause damage or bodily harm to people," Traver said.

Apparently, in the minds of of some animal rights people, a nail bomb is not cruel.

From the FBI: FBI wanted poster for Daniel Andreas San Diego:
http://www.fbi.gov/wanted/fugitives/dt/sandiego_da.htm

Daniel Andreas San Diego is wanted for his alleged involvement in the bombings of two corporate offices in California. On August 28, 2003, two bombs exploded at the Chiron Corporation, located in Emeryville. Then, on September 26, 2003, a single bomb strapped with nails exploded at the Shaklee Corporation, located in Pleasanton. A federal arrest warrant was issued in the Northern District of California on October 5, 2003, charging San Diego with maliciously damaging and destroying, and attempting to destroy and damage, by means of explosives, buildings and other property. San Diego is a known animal rights activist with ties to animal rights groups. He is known to be a very strict vegan, eating no meat or food containing animal products. San Diego wears eyeglasses. He is known to possess a 9mm handgun.

Europe Wants To Drill There, Drill Soon

Europe wants to drill, but the U.S. Congress - Democrats, primarily - are reluctant to approve new petroleum and gas drilling projects within our own borders. An interesting report from AP today (2/22/09) tells us that the Europeans are eager to develop their ability to produce their own energy from "fossil fuels." While there have been Europeans pushing for such and effort before now, the recent Russian natural gas cut-off has spurred Europe to move faster toward the goal of energy independence. There is a great irony to this story. AP quotes Don Hertzmark, "an international energy expert," as saying that "The Europeans never bothered to develop this stuff." Here's the irony: The Europeans will do it with American technology because they have not developed their own, and while the U.S. has the ability, our federal government has essentially crushed efforts to increase our own domestic production for decades because of pressure from environmentalists. Hertzmark, reports AP, says that using American technology would save European companies years of developing their own methods. (Why re-invent the wheel?) "If the same technology works in Europe," writes AP's Mark Williams, "it could free up an enormous amount of energy, and potentially provide a buffer against cross-border disputes to the east." It's a shame that the US Congress, as a whole, doesn't seem to understand that. If the same American technology that Europe now hopes to use were actually put to full use by American companies domestically, it could provide a buffer against higher energy prices and the potential for blackmail and extortion by other nations. Enviromental activists are continuing their push for a moratorium on U.S. offshore drilling. H. Josef Herbert wrote about at Townhall.com on February 11 (emphasis added): At a House hearing, Philippe Cousteau, grandson of legendary ocean explorer Jacques Cousteau, urged Congress to reinstate the offshore drilling bans that until last fall had been in effect for 25 years in Atlantic and Pacific coastal waters. "It's absolutely critical for the health of the oceans," said Cousteau, a board member of the advocacy group Ocean Conservancy. "Oil spills still occur." The argument that "oil spills still occur" is an absurd red herring. Yes, the possibility of a spill from a domestic offshore project is a possibility, but an oil spill is an oil spill is an oil spill. Whether that spilled oil comes from one of our own ships or drilling platforms, or from a foreign oil tanker en route to a US port, makes no difference to the birds and fish. Cousteau and his comrades represent the "not in my back yard" mentality taken to a global scale. Our oil consumption is supplied, in part, by drilling in other parts of the world. That foreign oil is transported in ships across vast oceans. The probability of a spill, from foreign drill to U.S. port, is greater than it would be from domestic drill to domestic port. Less distance plus less time equals less opportunity for accidents. Oil spills are not exactly common occurances. In fact, they are rare, as noted by the Minerals Management Service (MMS), a bureau in the U.S. Department of the Interior. MMS "tracks spill incidents 1 barrel or greater in size of petroleum and other toxic substances resulting from Federal OCS oil and gas activities." You can see their spill statistics at http://www.mms.gov/incidents/spills1996-2008.htm. The environmentalist radicals are almost always also opposed to "American imperialism." It is odd that they cannot connect the dots between imporation of oil and that "empire." If the United States reduced its dependence on foreign energy sources, it would simultaneously reduce our footprint on the economies of other nations. Therefore, less "imperialism." Logically, they should be cheerleading an effort to increase domestic energy production. However, logic and a basic understanding of capitalism do not fit well into their anti-business agenda. According to Williams' AP report, "European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso says the dispute between Russia and Ukraine demonstrated the need for Europe to stop keeping all of its eggs in one basket when it comes to energy sources and supply routes." Williams quotes Barroso as saying, "It was utterly unacceptable that European gas consumers were held hostage to this dispute between Russia and Ukraine," Barroso said. Indeed. It is also unacceptable that the U.S. is often held hostage to pricing whims of other oil producing nations such as Saudi Arabia and other OPEC members. It would be a great irony if Europe uses American technology to become energy independent before we achieve that worthy goal. It would be nice to be able to tell OPEC and Russia to stuff it, we've got our own. RELATED: Another Wake-Up Call? Europe Remains Divided Over Energy Security... Recycled Denver Nacho Chips

Jerry Agar of WLS 890 AM found a great story about how some folks think they're being oh-so-green at the Democratic National Convention in Denver. Agar quotes Jeff Katz of WBT/Charlotte, who is in Denver covering the circus: It's absolutely hysterical to watch the greener-than-thou types stand there for ten or fifteen minutes carefully separating nacho chips from guacamole and sour cream to place each in the proper canister. Is it refuse? Compost? Recycling?...... Find out what happens to those nacho chips here... (The VIDEO is priceless!) See more fun stuff everyday at Jerry Agar's Blog, and listen to Jerry's talk show on WLS 890 AM in Chicago from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Monday throught Friday. Jerry proves that conservatives can be very entertaining. RELATED: Jeff Katz Show, WBT Charlotte

NOT COOL TO BE GREEN

Remember Hippies? I do, although I was only 19 by the time it was no longer cool to be one, circa 1974. Once the arbiters of fashion and all things groovy, Hippies were seen as losers and just another passing fad by 1975.

It is now the enviro-wackos' turn at becoming unfashionable is (finally) here. Indeed, the radical environmentalists are led primarily by aging hippies, women who haven't shaved anything in decades and the men who like them.

It's no longer cool to be a "green," or an environmentalist nutjob. It's still cool to care about the environment, but it is no longer cool to be a hypocritical preachy bore about it. Like, you know, Al Gore. Or that coworker of yours who won't shut up his airplane trip to the Amazon to worship nature, all the while oblivious to the enormous carbon footprint that such a trip requires.

"So the salad days are over; it's the end of the greens," writes Alice Thomson in the Times Online. "Where only a year ago the smart new eco-warriors were revered, wormeries and unbleached cashmere jeans are now seen as a middle-class indulgence. But the problem for the green lobby isn't that it has been overrun by “toffs”: it's the chilly economic climate that has frozen the shoots of environmentalism. Espousing the green life, with its misshapen vegetables and non-disposable nappies, is increasingly being seen as a luxury by everyone."

We need to start calling out the hypocrites and environmentalist zombies. Bless Alice Thompson for writing this fine piece.

Animal Rights Terrorists Bomb House

Terrorism and terrorists come in many forms. One of the most dangerous and most active are the eco-terrorists. Within that group is the subgroup of animal rights lunatics. They're insane, they are dangerous, they have a total disregard for human life. To wit: A domestic terror attack against an animal researcher and his family was carried out Saturday [August 2] in CA. The fire bomb was said to be a Molotov cocktail on steroids. The FBI is calling the attack an instance of domestic terrorism, but an animal rights activist says it is the logical consequence to the researchers actions: animal testing. Firebombing a man's house is the "logical consequence," said the animal rights fascist. Okay... A spokesperson for the Animal Liberation Front (ALF) has said that while the attackers are unknown, the attack was necessary response. FULL ARTICLE at Digital Journal... Not just "logical," the insane ones tell us, the firebombing was also "necessary." Fortunately, nobody was killed. Had someone died, would the ALF had said that the killing was "logical" and "necessary?" You bet they would have. These are the same type of homicidal psychopaths who sent letters to the Chicago Police Department, threatening to kill a grade school student as retribution for the recent shooting of a cougar. Believe it - these lunatics would prefer the entire human race to go extinct in favor of toads and cockroaches. Green Struggle

The "Green" hysteria that surrounds us all these days can be maddening, especially when you see so-called environmentalists driving their automobiles to "green events." There is hypocrisy aplenty in the green movement. Al Gore burning tens of thousands of gallons of hydrocarbons as he jets from one PowerPoint presentation to another, for instance. Chicago Alderman Joe Moore driving two blocks to his office, for example. And so on. An excellent opinion piece by Pamela Van Giessen gives a realpolitik view of this. Van Giessen is a leader of the Rogers Park Garden Group, an environmentally friendly gaggle of gardeners who beautify the neighborhood without being preachy about it. An excerpt from Van Giessen's opinion piece, in the July 30 edition of the News-Star: Are we being a little insensitive when we suggest that the single mom with two jobs take money and time out of her day to "be green"? Isn't life enough of a struggle for a low income person whether they live in Chicago or Mumbai? Recently, policy wonks have suggested that the government buy old cars at above market rates to get these pollution monsters off the road. It sounds brilliant but wouldn't we be better off lifting low income peoples out of poverty so they can afford hybrid cars or better jobs closer to home, along with other green choices? It's a stretch to see how paying a low income person even 50 percent above the market rate for their clunker will give them enough money to buy (and maintain) a new environmentally friendly car. Global Warming and Mass Suicide

Jerry Agar, talk show host extraordinaire on WLS 890 AM in Chicago, has a good post on his blog that was written by Tim Slagle, a regularly guest on Agar's show. Jerry tells me that Slagle is a contributing writer to his blog. Slagle quotes a news story that tells of "a patient was [who] admitted to the Royal Children’s Hospital of Melbourne with the first case ever documented of climate change delusion." That's right: Climate change delusion. Now, many of us already suspected that the world wide mass hysteria about climate change was a form of mental illness. Now, however, we have clinical proof. Slagle continues: I might suggest that this isn’t the first case documented, probably just the first case treated. Since, according to the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Psychiatry, “The patient ... quoted internet research to substantiate this. The patient described that “I feel guilty about it,” [and] was unable to acknowledge that the belief was unreasonable when challenged.” Well that sounds like every single environmentalist I’ve ever met. Perhaps Slagle exaggerates a wee bit. I mean, I'm an "environmentalist" inasmuch as I favor clean air, clean water, and so on. Unlike the variety of "environmentalist" that Slagle refers to however, I do not put snail darters or any other life form above the welfare of my fellow humans. To do so makes you a cultist, as Slagle explains: Global warming is a dangerous cult because it is a doomsday cult. Most of these cults meet their fate in horrendous fashion. As it becomes clear that the apocalyptic prophesy is not going as foretold, the leaders usually panic, and lead the believers to mass suicide. Bush to Lift Ban on Offshore Oil Drilling

The president plans to officially lift the ban and then explain his actions in a Rose Garden statement, White House press secretary Dana Perino said. Wait, hold on. That's not the whole story: But the move, by itself, will do nothing unless Congress acts as well. [Source] The accomplish-nothing Pelosi Congress has a chance to actually do something about fuel prices. When Nancy Pelosi took became Speaker of the House a couple of years ago, she told the nation that she and her fellow Democrats had a plan to bring down the price of gasoline. Since then, the price at the pump has about doubled. The U.S. has more oil in the ground (including shale oil) than Saudi Arabia does. It makes no sense to import the stuff at $130 per barrel when we are literally sitting on so much of it right here. Saving the World

A young woman thinks she's saving the world by stepping into the paths of oncoming pedestrians in downtown Chicago last week. Innocent people are frequently accosted by Green Peace solicitors like her. Most simply step around them.

The commonly used "pitch" line: "Can you spare a minute for the environment?" or "Do you like the environment?"

The most common reply: "I'm in a hurry to get back to work." The phrase "back to work" seems to cause a sense of confusion amongst these junior saviours of the planet. But they quickly shake it off and step into the path of the next innocent pedestrian.

Pass the Toilet Paper!

Lord knows I've tried, really. I may be a conservative but, contrary to popular belief, conservatives really do like the environment. Well, most of the environment, anyway. I personally could do without certain varieties of trees, and a number of insects really bug me. My point is that I like the environment and so wish to inflict as little harm upon it as possible. That's why I took Sheryl Crow's recent advice to heart. Which, in turn, is why I'll never take her advice again. You see, since April, I've only been using one sheet of toilet paper per sitting. I will, for the rest of my life, envision that skank's face every time I sit on a toilet. Take it from me, one sheet is not enough. I quickly noticed that people would not sit near me on the train or bus. Dogs took a particular interest in sniffing me. The drunk guys who sleep at the beach seemed to like me more, almost unconsciously, like a pheromone effect or something akin to it. To put it more bluntly, while keeping in mind that your six year old might be reading this too, I smelled awful. Eating a bean burrito, or anything with bulk, became a daunting prospect, for I knew, I just knew what would follow. They say beauty is pain. Okay, well good environmental stewardship can be painful too, I know, but I'm willing to make a sacrifice here and there for the sake of our flora and fauna. So, until yesterday, I was - uhm - wiping with only one square. No matter how big the job might have been, just one thin little square. Screw Sheryl Crow. That experiment is over. I've never been so damned uncomfortable in my life. Riding a bike, sitting on a chair, and other activities that involved my nether-regions were suddenly very challenging or downright embarrassing (literally). Yesterday I decided I'd had enough of the Crow Method of toilet paper usage. I went to the store and bought a fresh roll of TP. I plan to use the whole roll tonight whether I need it or not, just to spite her. I might even flush the toilet, but that's a whole other experiment.

Ban Dihydrogen Monoxide Now!

Every year, thousands of people are killed by dihydrogen monoxide. Penn and Teller get people to sign a petition to ban "dihydrogen monoxide." For those of you who were not paying attention in 8th grade chemistry, dihydrogen monoxide H2O. For those of you had 8th grade chemistry in the Chicago Public School system, H2O is water. Hat tip to Illinois Review for this gem of a video.
