College President Tells Cry-Baby Students To Grow Up

December 1, 2015 - In the wake of numerous incidents of college students (young adults) demonstrating their politically correct insanity, it is refreshing to see a college president tell them to grow a spine.

In fact, Piper calls the actions of those students "ideological fascism." It is, unfortunately, nothing new for the Left to ban speech that offends them -- and it's not limited to the "Millennial" generation -- but lately it's gone beyond goofiness to full-fledged insanity. Witness the recent stompy-foot whining from students at Yale and the University of Missouri.

Dr. Everett Piper, President of Oklahoma Wesleyan University, recently published an open letter to the student body in the OKWU News website. Piper's post was in response to a complaint from a student who said he felt “victimized” by a sermon. In his response to the student, Piper pulled no punches in saying that "Oklahoma Wesleyan is not a 'safe place', but rather, a place to learn." Piper also said that "If you want the chaplain to tell you you’re a victim rather than tell you that you need virtue, this may not be the university you’re looking for."

This video will make you chuckle, but it will also make you shake your head in disbelief over the ignorance of the Liberal.

Geert Wilders Acquitted of Hate Charges in Netherlands

June 23, 2011 - An enormous victory for free speech was won in the Netherlands (Holland) on June 22, 2011. Dutch politician Geert Wilders has been fighting charges of "inciting hatred" by speaking out against sharia law and other Islamic practices. Wilders' Freedom Party is the Netherlands' third largest political party in the nation's parliament. (Below is a video report by AlJazeera, followed by a video titled "Geert Wilders' Warning to America.") "The acquittal yesterday of Dutch anti-Islamic politician Geert Wilders on charges of inciting hatred," reports The Independent (UK), "has split the Netherlands down the middle as effectively as the populist MP's right-wing rhetoric." The report about the acquittal of Geert Wilders noted that the judge "ruled that some of Mr Wilders' comments may have been "crude and denigrating" but they did not amount to inciting hatred against Muslims and remained within the boundaries of free speech." “I am delighted with this ruling,” wrote Geert Wilders on his own website today. “It is a victory, not only for me but for all the Dutch people. Today is a victory for freedom of speech. The Dutch are still allowed to speak critically about islam, and resistance against islamisation is not a crime. I have spoken, I speak and I shall continue to speak.”

The Independent report quoted a sociologist in Amsterdam as saying that Wilders "has been told that he has been rude and offensive but it is on the border of what the criminal law allows. It is good. The Netherlands is, after all, a tolerant country and we should keep it that way." Wilders went on trial in October 2010 because he compared the Koran with Adolf Hitler's "Mein Kampf." In Geert Wilders' closing statement, reports Der Spiegel, he "said that his controversial statements against Islam were protected by the right to free speech. Wilders said he believed the process of Islamization presents a threat to Europe and that it is his right and duty to warn the public about it. If he had been convicted, Wilders could have faced up to one year in jail or a fine of up to €7,600 ($10,865). At the peak of the controversy over his statements, Wilders was once even banned from entering the United Kingdom."

Loyola University Refuses to Let Karl Rove Speak (Updated)

July 21, 2010 - Chicago - While many college students are currently enjoying their time off, some are utilizing this summer to prepare for the upcoming school year. Conservative activists at Loyola University Chicago were planning to bring best-selling author and Young America’s Foundation lecturer Karl Rove to their campus for the fall semester. Administrators had other plans, however. Update, July 24: The hypocrisy of Loyola University Chicago keeps getting thicker, with their announcement that Obama's religious advisor Eboo Patel will speak on campus in August. University officials denied the request to host Karl Rove, arguing that due to their 501(c)(3) tax status, they cannot host a “political” speaker before the midterm elections. Those with even the faintest knowledge of tax law understand that is simply not the case. Kimberly A. Moore, director of student affairs and Greek affairs at Loyola University Chicago, told students in an email that, “The timing of this event is problematic given the campaign cycle. Loyola has to maintain impartiality in order to protect our tax-exempt status.” It is important to note that Karl Rove is not working for any campaign this season. As if that weren’t egregious enough, Loyola University Chicago has a history of hosting partisan speakers on election years. On September 1, 2004, Howard Dean was allowed to speak on campus. Just a couple weeks later, third party candidate Ralph Nader not only spoke on campus, but it was also advertised as a campaign event and donations were solicited. After long discussions, Loyola officials offered to host the event after the midterm elections, but given Karl Rove's busy schedule, that is simply not possible. The Battle for Free Speech On Campus

It's no secret that a disproportionate number college and university administrators and professors lean to the left politically. That would not be a problem if not for the fact that all too often they try to squash the free speech of many of the students they are supposed to serve. This goes on constantly, across that nation. Let's look at two current examples of the ongoing battle for free speech and liberty on America's campuses. One involves the University of California - San Diego. The other concerns the University of Illinois - Champaign. One of the best free speech watchdog groups out there is the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE). Their mission "is to defend and sustain individual rights at America's colleges and universities. These rights include freedom of speech, legal equality, due process, religious liberty, and sanctity of conscience — the essential qualities of individual liberty and dignity. FIRE's core mission is to protect the unprotected and to educate the public and communities of concerned Americans about the threats to these rights on our campuses and about the means to preserve them." FIRE has defended liberal students when their free speech was threatened, too, but the vast majority of cases involve suppression of free speech and other civil rights of conservative students (and sometimes faculty) by liberal educators. It should also be pointed out that student governments, often controlled by leftists, are as guilty of civil rights violations as are administrators and educators. SAN DIEGO DICTATORSHIP: One of FIRE's current battles involves "a blow-by-blow account of the First Amendment meltdown taking place at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD)." Frim a current FIRE report (emphasis added): "The University of California, San Diego (UCSD) and its student government have violated the First Amendment by freezing funds for 33 student media organizations, dissolving the student-run television station, and threatening to punish students involved in a controversy over a party invitation for an event called the 'Compton Cookout.' Student government president Utsav Gupta has explained that his repressive actions were due to "fracturing of the student body on an issue" and 'hateful speech.' Further, under pressure from state legislators who seek to punish protected speech, UCSD has launched "aggressive investigations" into the party invitation. After many students came to FIRE for help, FIRE has written two letters to UCSD defending the First Amendment both on and off campus." OF ILLINOIS: An interesting press release from a student group calling itself "Illinois Deserves Better" describes both the civil rights offenses being committed by the University of Illinois and the group's efforts to fight back. The Illinois Deserves Better press release (dated Feb. 24, 2010; emphasis added by me): Students Launch "Illinois Deserves Better" Organization to Combat Partisan Administrators Champaign, IL Students at the University of Illinois are announcing the official formation of a Registered Student Organization, the aim of which is to fumigate the Urbana campus of partisan and corrupt administrators. In reaction to a scandal wrought at the hands of Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Renee Romano and her staff in the Office of Inclusion and Intercultural Relations (OIIR), ‘I Deserve Better’ is striving for a refreshed administration of integrity and mutual respect so that the campus may finally move beyond an era of clout. The group will advocate for the replacement of Vice Chancellor Renee Romano and Associate Vice Chancellor Anna Gonzalez and will call for a full review of their offices and financial endeavors. Those at ‘I Deserve Better’ believe that in a time of extreme economic hardship, when students and their families are asked to give more and faculty and staff are asked to work for less, that runaway administrative costs and malfeasance are exceptionally intolerable. While students had hoped to work with University of Illinois Administrators, actions by Vice Chancellor Renee Romano and her offices have lead to an institutional impasse that can only be bridged by the immediate replacement of those administrators in question. The offensive actions of those in question include Vice Chancellor Romano's refusal to acknowledge inherent student rights to free speech, partisan viewpoint discrimination against students who do not share administration views, and a refusal to answer the questions of students who want a logical, truthful explanation or admission of wrongdoing regarding the Students for Chief Illiniwek FOIA scandal. Similarly, the Office of Inclusion and Intercultural Relations acted dishonorably by sending student interns to a meeting where student government members were drafting a resolution to admonish the actions of that student's employers. A Washington Lobbyist has contacted the organization and is eager to contribute his time in Springfield to help obtain legislative remedies to the situation. In addition to this, the Illinois Student Senate will be voting on a resolution tonight [Feb. 23, 2010] that admonishes the administration and calls for more accountable leadership in the Pine Lounge at the Illini Union at 7 P.M. Vice Chancellor Renee Romano and Associate Vice Chancellor Anna Gonzalez have further tarnished the University of Illinois' reputation with their behavior and Illinois Deserves Better looks forward to working with Interim President Stanley O. Tea Parties Can Learn From "We Are Change Chicago"

Last week, a group of Chicagoans called "We Are Change Chicago" protested the book signing appearance of Climate Crook Al Gore when he showed up at the Borders book store downtown. When Gore arrived at 150 N. State Street to promote the sequel to his "Inconvenient Truth" book, an inconvenient pack of protesters greeted him. They wanted to know what many of us would like ask Gore: Why have you been lying to us about global warming, and in light of "Climategate," why are continuing to promote those lies? "Swizzle Steve" is one of the organizers of "We Are Change Chicago," and they're making quite a splash. Steve is on Facebook, and We Are Change has a Facebook page too. They even have their own YouTube channel. WAC Chicago is part of the larger international "We Are Change" group. The Chicagoans have a web site, as does the international group. WAC describes itself this way: We Are Change has arisen from the remnants of our republic to fill the vacancy left by those who swore to preserve, protect and defend The Constitution against all enemies – foreign and domestic. We seek to expose the fraud of the left/right paradigm and reveal that the world truly functions on a top/down hierarchy that threatens to destroy free society as we know it. We Are Change works to educate, motivate, and activate those striving... (read more) We Are Change claims to be non-partisan, and so far they seem to be living up to that claim. On September 11 they staged a "9/11 Truth Now" event, and back on May 28 they participated in a Truth Squad lecture at the Chicago Theater about Karl Rove, Bush's political brain. Then, of course, the Al Gore protest on November 24, in which Gore was chased out of the store (see our post about that). In addition, the group wants to end the Federal Reserve (see their video), which is a traditonal conservative issue. Although Liberals will have a hard time believing this, We Are Change is a good fit with the Tea Party movement. Yes, it's probably true that the majority of tea partiers are self-described conservatives. However, it's also true that many of those conservatives are fed up with the Republican Party. Furthermore, the Tea Party movement includes many Democrats and a lot of independents. Many in the Tea Party movement would find something to love about We Are Change, and I suggest that we embrace them in their bold, in-your-face approach to popular dissent. In fact, tea partiers can learn from We Are Change. Does every tea partier agree on every issue with WAC? No, of course not. But then, the Tea Party movement is not homogenous. Some of us, for example, think 9/11 was an inside job, some of us don't. What we need to do is become more familiar with groups like WAC, bring them into the fold without co-opting them, and adopt their tactics. Free Speech? It's All Relative

Friend Chris Barkulis addresses this on his fine blog, "Right Not Wrong." For most of us, it means what it says: Speech that is free, unrestricted, unencumbered. Yes, some should be "banned," such as the classic example of yelling "fire" in a crowded theater. For some, however, free speech is relative. Can you guess who they are? Chris wrote: Any speech is free speech unless you're a conservative/Republican that speaks against the current administration or Democratic party. That would constitute hate speech; soon to be punishable by law in a city near you! Now, if you're a self proclaimed conservative/Republican that speaks against your own party you're safe. So don't worry if you think the Republican party needs to change itself and reassert its core principals and values. Unless of course those principles and values are not closer to the Democratic party line and what the socialists that reside within the DNC agree with. Then you're back to hate speech. ...according to Dems, when someone disagrees with them, "inner city" all of a sudden must deal with the color of someones skin in a negative term? ....if you're a Democrat and emptily champion the inner city it's healthy, positive free speech.... Could you imagine if the true residents of "inner city" areas actually heard what conservative/Republicans want for them? The Growing Disillusionment of the Left - Obama's Pickle

The quasi-fascist Obama Regime keeps adding people to its growing enemies list. Jim Cramer, of TV's "Mad Money" show, is the latest big-name addition. Excerpts (also see videos below!): I was on my hackles when I heard White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs' answer to a question about my pointed criticism of the president on multiple venues, including the Today Show. But Obama has undeniably made things worse by creating an atmosphere of fear and panic rather than an atmosphere of calm and hope. He's done it by pushing a huge amount of change at a very perilous moment, by seeking to demonize the entire banking system and by raising taxes for those making more than $250,000 at the exact time when we need them to spend and build new businesses, and by revoking deductions for funds to charity that help eliminate the excess supply of homes. We had a banking crisis coming into this regime, but now every area is in crisis. Each day is worse than the previous one for this miserable economy and while Obama's champions cite the stimulus plan, it's really just a hodgepodge of old Democratic pork and will not create nearly as many manufacturing or service jobs as we hoped. Open Letter to Uptown Update: Expose Yourselves

This is regarding the current subpoena from the attorney of a Chicago developer, the goal of which is to discover the identities of some anonymous bloggers in Uptown (see "Developer Targets Bloggers in Chicago"). Uptown Update is one of those blogs, but this could apply to almost every blogger who does not use his/her real name. Dear Uptown Update: I believe that you have the right to be anonymous. However, it would lend much more credibility to UU if you did not hide behind a veil. While I honor your anonymity, I frankly have less respect for anonymous bloggers than I do for those who have the courage to name themselves. Imagine, if you will, how you would feel about the Chicago Tribune if none of their reporters used their real names. Suppose the editors did not identify themselves. It would lessen their credibility, and properly so. Let me give you some unsolicited advice. You and your staff should seriously consider revealing your identities, and doing it as soon as possible. Why? It would make Holsten and the Johnson subpoena look ridiculous. Furthermore, it is only a matter of days before a lot of Uptowners start wondering what you're afraid of by using your real names. You should have considered this possibility before your first post. The anonymity that you thought would protect you has, ironically, become a yoke around your necks. Remove it at your soonest possibility. You will be hailed as brave heroes if you do. If you don't, some will question your credibility - and you will be forced to continue fighting to protect an anonymity that will soon serve you no longer. I wish UU all the best in this fight, and I'm on your side in the struggle. I could be subpoenaed by Joe Moore or God Knows Who, for all I know. Feds Sued by Community Organizations and Publishers, Charge Computer Searches Illegal

The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) is an organizationt that has been working to protect the rights of citizen journalists ("bloggers") since 1990. They have battled unfair laws and attempts to squelch free speech by advocating and representing in courts.

EFF has brought and defended lawsuits "even when that means taking on the US government or large corporations." EFF has a story posted on their web site about a recent lawsuit filed by private citizen groups against the FBI and other federal entities.

The groups are being helped by both EFF and the ACLU: Data Seizure Violates Constitution and Federal Law San Francisco - The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) and the ACLU of Northern California filed suit in federal court today to protect the privacy and free speech rights of two San Francisco Bay Area community organizations after the groups' computers were seized and the data copied by federal and local law enforcement. Both organizations, Long Haul and the East Bay Prisoner Support Group (EBPS), are publishers of information for social and political activists. FULL ARTICLE... Hate Crime Report Was Hoax

Charge: Filing a false police report Oh, and also lying about a "hate crime" that seems to have been fabricated by this lying liar. From the Chicago Tribune: Jilani, a Muslim student, who said a masked gunman assaulted her on October 9, 2008 after he wrote anti-Muslim slurs in a women's restroom at Elmhurst College. Jilani, 19, of Oak Brook, was arrested a week later after authorities concluded there was no merit to her complaint. Now, seriously. Is it believable that someone would write anti-Muslim crap on a wall? You betcha. Is it believable that such a person would then put on a mask and hang around, then assault the first Muslim female he sees? No, not really, and that's how the Elmhurst Police felt about it, too. "The totality of all the evidence, and interviews with staff and students at the college ... concluded that this incident never happened," said Elmhurst Police Chief Steve Neubauer. What really happened? The Tribune: Jilani's report of an attack followed several weeks of tension on campus that began when some students allegedly called anti-Muslim slurs at students protesting the treatment of U.S. captives at the Guantanamo Bay prison camp. Let's see. It's probably safe to guess that Ms. Jilani is a liberal, based on the fact that she was participating in a protest against Guantanamo. It's safe to say she's a Muslim. It's probably safe, as well, to say that she was involved in anti-US activities, she hates the US military, probably subscribes to Saul Alinsky's methods, and is bitter for reasons she is not well-read enough to fully understand. She probably made the false hate crime accusation out of hatred itself. Ms. Jilani is a hate filled person who decided to strike out in a cowardly way: Lie, and lie to get somebody in legal trouble because of .... because of the "crime" of honestly speaking their thoughts. Of course, in this case, there was nobody honestly speaking their allegedly anti-Muslim speech. Remember, she lied about that. But one must wonder if Ms. Jilani gets all in a lather when she hears or reads her fellow liberals - and some of her fellow Muslims - make heinous slurs and hate speech against non-Muslims, conservatives, capitalists, the US military. It's probably a safe bet that she engages in such hate speech herself. The Tribune continued: As officials at the private college, affiliated with the United Church of Christ, called the incident a hate crime, hundreds of students rallied to show solidarity with their Muslim peers, who constitute about 25 of the school's 3,300 students. [SOURCE: Chicago Tribune] By the way, remember the crazy white bitch who falsely claimed that a black man assaulted her because she was wearing a McCain button? That made national headlines and had a good run in the broadcast media for about three full days. Did you see the same kind of coverage for Safia Jilani's equally outrageous lies? No, you did not. Ask yourself why that is. Sadly, it has become all too common to make up false accusations of hate crimes. I don't like rude speech, but the idea of fining or imprisoning somebody for saying something is revolting. It's become a favorite weapon of the Lying Left. Politics Prevents Palin Protest Participation

Democrats displayed their fear, loathing and willingness to threaten this week in a pitiful display of placing partisan politics ahead of confronting an enemy. That enemy - the true enemy, that is - is Iran's Mahmoud "Adolf" Ahmadinejad, who was in New York to attend a United Nations meeting. Let's let Chicago Bungalow fill us in: Hillary Clinton recently cancelled an appearance at a rally planned by several major Jewish-American groups. The rally was to protest Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's threats against Israel, his promotion of terrorism, his jailing and execution of women's rights advocates, religious minorities and others. She withdrew because Sarah Palin was invited to the same rally. FULL POST over by dere... Why would Hillary chicken out like that? Was she afraid of being upstaged by the now-more-popular Palin? Perhaps. Did dissing Palin mean more to Hillary than sending a strong message to Ahmadinejad? Yes, obviously. You see, just as so many on the Left continue to call President Bush a "dictator" (and often in the same breath, an "idiot"), the Left considers Palin to be The Enemy moreso than an actual, honest to Allah dictator like Ahmadinejad. As for the threats made, we'll return to Chicago Bungalow: According to CBS 2 HD's Marcia Kramer, Democrats then threatened the tax exempt status of the participating Jewish groups if Palin were allowed to attend. Hence, they were forced to "disinvite" her. More... So, not only did Hillary chicken out, her own "Democratic" party then threatened to get the IRS after Jewish people if they didn't join in with the Democrat desertion of a valid protest event. Think about this, folks: Threats to persecute Jewish groups with the IRS if they did not dump a major party's VP candidate - oh, forget that, a US citizen - who wanted to participate in a free speech event to protest the dictator of a nation that sponsors terrorism. Ahem, must you be reminded that those are the same Democrats who hope for the election of Barack Obama? This doesn't scare you? It should. It is disturbing that the Left so easily falls into spasmodic hallucinations that do not allow them to see the real enemies of this nation. But then, they see themselves in the mirror every morning. Perhaps the guilt of knowing that they give so much comfort to our real enemies actually adds to their collective craziness.

AGAIN! OBAMA GOONS ATTACK WGN RADIO

The "free speech Liberals" at Lord Barack Obama's Chicago headquarters AGAIN attacked free speech by targeting WGN 720 AM's Milt Rosenberg's radio show last night. This is the second time in about a month that they've done this. Free speech is nice, isn't it? Sure, but if you're an Obamamaniac it's only nice when your side is excercising it. Milt's guest was conservative writer David Freddoso, whose articles can be seen at Human Events, among other places. I caught the last 20 minutes of Milt's show last night and, at first, I thought they were replaying the August 28 show (see Obama Campaign Orchestrating Intimidation). Then I realized it was yet another assault on free speech by so-called Democrats. Friends, true Democrats don't act like that. By coincidence, good friend John Ruberry (Marathon Pundit) tuned in at about the same time, and today John posts this: Obama goons attack free speech on Milt Rosenberg's show, AGAIN! Last week, I purchased David Freddoso's "The Case Against Barack Obama: The Unlikely Rise and Unexamined Agenda of the Media's Favorite Candidate." I'm about one-third into it, the books is well-written and well-researched, and truthful. Which is why the Obama campaign has its undies in a bunch because Milt Rosenberg had the author on as his guest on his Extension 720 show on WGN-AM. The Cult of Change sounded the alarm and sent its message to its robots via the "Obama Action Wire." FULL POST at Marathon Pundit... The Chicago Tribune noticed, too, of course. They have the same parent company as WGN does, and wrote today that "Chicago radio station WGN-AM is again coming under attack from the presidential campaign of Sen. Barack Obama for offering airtime to a controversial author. It is the second time in recent weeks the station has been the target of an "Obama Action Wire" alert to supporters of the Illinois Democrat." Full Article... Alles Klar, Herr Kommissar Obama

The jackbooted Democrat thugs hate free speech. Just ask Milt Rosenberg, talk show host of WGN's "Extension 720," a nightly radio show about everything from politics to opera, sports to science, dining to dancing. Milt's show was recently the target of a vicious, orchestrated attack by wave after wave of callers who did not want WGN to exercise its First Amendment rights by having writer Stanley Kurtz on as a guest last week.

"While the Obama coronation proceeds apace in Denver," wrote National Review Online, "it is in Chicago that Americans are getting a disturbing demonstration of his thuggish methods of stifling criticism."

Indeed, but to those of us who pay attention to these kinds of abuses this is nothing new. It is, sadly, an all too typical tactic of the Left, which has in recent years taken over the upper echelon of the Democrat Party.

Ask any conservative student group at nearly any public university about bringing conservative guest speakers to their campus. They will likely tell you about being snubbed by the school's administrators. If such a speaker is allowed, they will recall stories of rude and threatening Leftists who first demand that the speaker not be allowed, and then encircled the venue to intimidate anybody who wishes to attend the speech.

Most Democrat officials want a return of the inappropriately named "Fairness Doctrine," which would actually dictate what radio and television stations can and cannot say. Intimidation and threats, obstruction and - too often - violence are commonly used tools of the Left's trade in suppression of any message that counters theirs. It's only "free speech" if it is their speech. That's the way of dictators. That's the way of authoritarians. That's the way of the Left.

If Obama becomes president, can we expect critics to be rounded up as they are in dictatorships? It's not a silly question. The Obama camp is already displaying such fascistic tendencies.
