Muslim Anti-Christian Riots in Egypt (and Happy Thanksgiving)

Somebody, please tell me again: Why is Islam called the "religion of peace?" I'm trying to understand, really, but it's just so damned hard when I keep seeing stories like this one from the Assyrian International News Agency (emphasis added): Upper Egypt (AINA) -- On Monday November 23, 2009 Muslim rioters looted and burned Coptic Christian businesses in the village of Abou Shousha, which lies 25 KM from Farshoot [300 miles south of Cairo]. The terrorized Coptic inhabitants of Abou Shusha have stayed indoors, their shops are closed and their children are being kept away from school. They fear a repeat in their village of the Muslim violence which engulfed the town of Farshoot less than 36 hours earlier (AINA 11-22-2009).... The Middle East Christian Association (MECA) reported that at least three large Coptic stores and a pharmacy were looted and burnt in Abou Shusha and that the fire brigade arrived one hour late, although their headquarters is only 8 KM away from the village. "They gave the pretext of being busy in Farshoot, which is untrue, as Farshoot had a quiet night," said Wagih Yacoub of MECA. "Coptic and Muslim neighbors tried to put the fire out." The religious makeup of Egypt is 90% Muslim (mostly Sunni) and 10% Christian (9% Coptic Christian and 1% other Christian) according to the CIA World Factbook. This round of riots has been going on for days now. An earlier report from AINA (via CNN's iReport) tells us that the violence started "early morning on Saturday, November 21" in Farshoot, but also in nearby villages Kom Ahmar, Shakiki and Ezbet Waziri. Farshoot has been "the scene of ongoing Muslim mob violence against Coptic Christian inhabitants. The mob looted, vandalized and burnt Coptic property, while Copts hid indoors fearing to venture out. Reuters Cairo reported that a witness said "chaos is overwhelming (in the city)." A report from Bikya Masr explains further: "In recent weeks, Egypt has witnessed an increase in sectarian violence between Muslims and the Christian minority. As usual, these attacks took place in Upper Egypt. This time, it was reported that a young Christian man allegedly distributed a CD 'containing images that distort the reputation of a Muslim girl.' The Christian man’s father was killed in retaliation." Full Article at Bikya Masr... You got that? A guy distributes a nasty CD, and a mob kills his father. Such a peaceful bunch, those savages. Such a peaceful, tolerant religion! What a backward, primitive, hellish place Egypt is. Pyramids and the Nile, tributes to dead times. The living Egypt is a swamp of tribal "justice," brutish people, filth and bigotry to a degree that most Americans cannot imagine. Remember the Christians of Egypt, America, on your Thanksgiving Day, and thank God Almighty that multiculturalism has not yet done to the United States what it has done for centuries in so much of the rest of the world. Say a prayer for the persecuted in Egypt and elsewhere on this harsh planet. Thank God every night when you go to bed that you live in a place where the guy you flipped off in traffic yesterday is not likely to gather his tribe and burn you out of your mud hut village. Thank God for the people who risked their lives to found this nation, so that people from around this troubled planet could finally, after thousands of years of suffering, have an island of sanity and peace in a sea of violent madness. Thank God that your ancestors, perhaps even you, were able to make it to these shores. Pass the cranberry sauce. Do You Pray in Your Home? Your Permit, Please

The San Diego official asked the couple: “Do you have a regular meeting in your home?”; “Do you say amen?”; “Do you pray?”; “Do you say praise the Lord?” When Pastor David Jones and his wife Mary replied “yes” to these questions, the official told them their meeting was violating county regulations. That meeting was the Jones home. Once a week they have about 15 people over for dinner, prayer and religious discussion. The only apparent reason for this incredible violation of constitutionally protected activity is religious persecution. According to christian.org.uk, Pastor Jones says his neighbors are supportive, and that the authorities’ letters consistently cited “religious assembly” rather than parking or traffic issues. David Broyles is the attorney representing Pastor and Mrs. Jones in all of this. He wondered, “Is [San Diego] county really going to treat a religious gathering any differently than a boyscout troupe or a tupperware party?” (More from christian.org.uk....) Apparently so. Discrimination law expert Neil Addison points out that “It is no coincidence that the first thing any totalitarian state does is to regulate and control association, organisations and churches." This is not an isolated case. Indeed, Christian persecution is on the rise all over the world. While it's far worse in other countries, intolerance of relgious people is increasing in the U.S., whether Muslim, Jewish, Christian or any other that believes in God. I wonder if San Diego officials would treat a weekly swingers' orgy of a dozen people in somebody's home this way? Are Conservatives and Veterans Terrorists?

In yet another goosestep toward its desired totalitarian control of America, Barack Obama's administration has issued a secret report (leaked to some in the media) that indicates that people who excercise their First Amendment rights might be considerted terrorists. The report comes from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). FoxNews: The government considers you a terrorist threat if you oppose abortion, own a gun or are a returning war veteran. That's what House Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Lamar Smith, R-Texas, said Wednesday in response to a Department of Homeland Security report warning of the rise of right-wing extremist groups. Are there, in fact, right-wing extremist groups? Yes, of course there are. There are extremist left-wing groups, too, such as SDS, a group that many of Barack Obama's friends were or are members of. Have the right-wing extremist groups suddenly grown or begun to bomb buildings? No. Has there been a sudden resurgence of the KKK? No. Do left-wing extremist groups continue to torch housing developments to "save the planet?" Yes, and more. Under Democrat Bill Clinton, did the federal government engage in violent domestic terrorism? Yes, as in Waco, Texas (photo above). Smith, who said the report on "right-wing extremism" amounts to "political profiling," said that DHS is "using people's political views to assess an individual's susceptibility to terror recruitment." He joins a growing chorus of protest from irate conservative groups that are protesting the report's findings. Full Report at FoxNews... But what about the left-wing extremist groups? Yes, there is a report about that, too, but it's different. As Hot Air points out (emphasis added): ....the report on extremism of the Left is much different than the other DHS report, starting with specifics. While the DHS report focusing on the Right expansively and generally indicted groups opposing abortion, illegal immigration, and federalism, this report instead focuses on actual and specific extremist groups — groups who have a long history of domestic terrorism and violence....In other words, it does not treat all animal-rights criticisms as indications of terrorist thought. It fails to paint all opponents of free trade as potential national-security threats. Global warming activism does not get treated in this instance as federalism does in the execrable DHS report on conservatives and libertarians. BRITISH MP ARRESTED: WITHER, MAGNA CARTA?

STALIN'S SHADOW IN LONDON: Is this the beginning of a political purge a la Stalin and Lenin? Some say the arrest of British MP Damian Green could signal the beginning of political persecution. Green, a member of the Conservative Party, was arrested for actions connected with his position as an official whistleblower, charged with "leaking" information improperly. The BBC reports: "Conservative sources said a police investigation into a high-ranking politician would have to have been cleared at "the very top" and have described the actions as "Stalinesque".(Source: BBC) The "very top" is Prime Minister Gordon Brown, a member of the liberal Labour Party. The United Kingdom, birthplace of the Magna Carta, that beautiful document that has inspired democratic movements around the world and across centuries for more than 700 years, is becoming a dictatorial anti-free speech tyranny. In 1956, Winston Churchill, British Prime Minister during WWII, described the Magna Carta as "a law which is above the King and which even he must not break." Today, Brown is being accused of abusing his power, and, indeed, the Magna Carter itself. The Magna Carta says, "No freeman shall be taken, imprisoned,...or in any other way destroyed...except by the lawful judgment of his peers, or by the law of the land. To no one will we sell, to none will we deny or delay, right or justice." The Fifth Amendment to the US Constitution was inspired by that. It says, "No person shall...be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law." The flap over Damian Green's arrest is especially band for Brown in the wake of recent polling that shows public confidence in him has sharply dropped. This is tyranny with a smile, but it's a crooked smile with very sharp teeth. You may say I am exaggerating. If so, then so is Iain Martin, writer for the respected Telegraph newspaper in the UK. Martin writes that the arrest of Damian Green is "seriously sinister" and will likely cause a constitutional crisis (emphasis added): This entire episode is quite chilling and the implications of his arrest in connection with information he gathered from a whistle blower (information which was true) are horrendous for parliamentary authority. The encroachment of the Executive and the police on the business of an MP going about his business, who was working to put legitimate information in the public domain, is seriously sinister. (Source: Telegraph.co.uk) Another respected newspaper, The Scotsman, offers the headline, "'Stalin-style' arrest of Tory MP by terror police sparks fury." There are many others who see Stalin's shadow in this story. Bloomberg.com reports that an email from the Conservatives denounced Green's arrest for activities related to his job as the Shadow Immigration Minister (opposition spokesman for immigration): “Mr. Green has, on a number of occasions, legitimately revealed information which the Home Office chose not to make public. Mr. Green denies any wrongdoing and stands by his actions.” (Source: Bloomberg.com) Gordon Brown, of late, has been writing letters to contestants on ITV's X Factor. According to The First Post, "Gordon Brown has been writing individual letters to all 12 of the finalists of ITV's The X Factor. In what could be interpreted as a craven bid togarner favour with the general public, Brown not only wishes each contestant good luck but also offers some criticism of the programme's devisor and notoriously tough judge, Simon Cowell." Will Mr. Brown write a letter to Damian Green, wishing him good luck? Perhaps he will, if his behavior continues to grow more bizarre by the week. AGAIN! OBAMA GOONS ATTACK WGN RADIO

The "free speech Liberals" at Lord Barack Obama's Chicago headquarters AGAIN attacked free speech by targeting WGN 720 AM's Milt Rosenberg's radio show last night. This is the second time in about a month that they've done this. Free speech is nice, isn't it? Sure, but if you're an Obamamaniac it's only nice when your side is excercising it. Milt's guest was conservative writer David Freddoso, whose articles can be seen at Human Events, among other places. I caught the last 20 minutes of Milt's show last night and, at first, I thought they were replaying the August 28 show (see Obama Campaign Orchestrating Intimidation). Then I realized it was yet another assault on free speech by so-called Democrats. Friends, true Democrats don't act like that. By coincidence, good friend John Ruberry (Marathon Pundit) tuned in at about the same time, and today John posts this: Obama goons attack free speech on Milt Rosenberg's show, AGAIN! Last week, I purchased David Freddoso's "The Case Against Barack Obama: The Unlikely Rise and Unexamined Agenda of the Media's Favorite Candidate." I'm about one-third into it, the books is well-written and well-researched, and truthful. Which is why the Obama campaign has its undies in a bunch because Milt Rosenberg had the author on as his guest on his Extension 720 show on WGN-AM. The Cult of Change sounded the alarm and sent its message to its robots via the "Obama Action Wire." FULL POST at Marathon Pundit... The Chicago Tribune noticed, too, of course. They have the same parent company as WGN does, and wrote today that "Chicago radio station WGN-AM is again coming under attack from the presidential campaign of Sen. Obama thugs tried to shut down a Chicago talk show this week. It was an orchestrated effort by the Obama campaign to intimidate WGN 720 AM, guest Stanley Kurtz and host Milt Rosenberg. The Democrats pretend to love freedom of speech, but they truly don't. They fear like vampires fear sun light. They use confrontation, bullying, fascist-like tactics to suppress free speech. The Democrats, while smiling pretty for the cameras in Denver, Obama thugs were busy with Stalinist strategy and brown shirt tactics in Chicago and elsewhere. As Obama gave a pretty speech with no calories last night, there are journalists who are worried about their future, and about the future of free speech in the U.S. We wrote about it yesterday: Obama's people are attacking free speech. It made national news yesterday when Obama-supporting goons tried to intimidate WGN 720 AM radio in Chicago. Author Stanley Kurtz was scheduled as a guest on Extension 720 on Thursday, Aug. 28. Milt Rosenberg has hosted the show for more than 20 years. WGN received thousands of phone calls demanding that they not let him on the air. WGN, to its credit, did not relent and went ahead with the show. The Chicago Tribune reports today that "Sen. Barack Obama's campaign organized its supporters Wednesday night to confront Tribune-owned WGN-AM in Chicago for having a critic of the Illinois Democrat on its air." (Source) Once on the air with Rosenberg, hundreds of calls came in, far more than usual for the show - rude calls, using obscenities, threats... you get the idea. Loving, rational, peaceful Obama supporters threatening with foul language. Why? To suppress the truth about Obama's relationship with terrorists William Ayers. National talk show host Mark Levin spoke with Kurtz just hours after the WGN incident. Team Obama is orchestrating attacks on the free press of the United States. One of their targets is WGN radio in Chicago. The Swamp, a blog site by the Chicago Tribune's Washington bureau, has had to shut down their comments on a post about the Obama attacks on WGN. The reason: So many comments that WGN's server is overwhelmed. The Chicago Tribune and WGN radio are owned by the same company. THIS IS PROBABLY because of numerous Team Obama people sending multiple comments, in much the same way that a criminal hacker will disable a web site - by sending so much traffic to it that it cannot handle the volume.
