Obama 2012 Campaign Up and Running

Get ready to see a lot more signs like this, America, campaign signs for Barack Obama's 2012 campaign for re-election. Make no mistake, this sign is a campaign sign. It serves no other real purpose. It does not warn you adverse road conditions. It gives no important information that any driver or pedestrian needs. This sign is like those signs that say something like "Mayor Smith Welcomes You to Smithville." Mayor Smith gets free propaganda value from those signs. The sign shown here only serves as propaganda for Barack Obama. Both Mayor Smith's sign and Obama's sign are paid for by your tax dollars. Nice arrangement, huh? The photo was taken by John Ruberry of Marathon Pundit took this photo on May 15. He wrote about it that evening: "I found what some of that stimulus money is going for--signs like these that I encountered this morning on Skokie Boulevard in Skokie, Illinois," John said, "Sheesh, it's bad enough that I have to pay for the stimulus bill, but why do I have to kick in for Obama's 2012 reelection campaign? I'm wondering if these ARRA signs will be as ubiquitous as the NRA eagle was during the the early days Franklin Roosevelt presidency." The "ARRA" that John refers to is the "American Recovery and Reinvestment Tax Act of 2009," passed into law by Congress on February 17, 2009. The "NRA" that John refers to is the "National Recovery Administration," part of President Franklin Roosevelt's "New Deal" during the Great Depression. The NRA eagle logo was seen in merchant windows and elsewhere all over the U.S. In June 1933, the National Recovery Administration (NRA) was created to supervise the execution of the NIRA under the direction of Hugh S. Johnson. During its first year, the NRA worked on the industrial codes; all participating businesses displayed a blue eagle, a sign of patriotism as well as acceptance of the program (source). The NRA was created by the National Industrial Recovery Act (NIRA) of 1933. RELATED: Why is Obama still campaigning? Obama Could Shut Down the Internet with Cybersecurity Act of 2009

Good news for Liberal Fascists and fans of totalitarianism. A bill was introduced last week by Sens. Jay Rockefeller (D-W.Va.) and Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) would allow Obama to order the Internet to be shut down: The Cybersecurity Act of 2009 would empower the National Institute of Standards and Technology to set "measurable and auditable" security standards for all networks and systems run by federal agencies, government contractors and businesses that support critical infrastructure services. The legislation would "enable the president to order that critical infrastructure networks be disconnected in the event of cybersecurity emergencies or for reasons of national security." (Computerworld.com) Computerworld notes, in second article today, that: The timing of two cybersecurity bills just introduced by Sen. John D. Rockefeller IV (D-W.Va.), Sen. Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) and Sen. Bill Nelson (D-Fla.) seems a bit funny. It is not so much that they were introduced on April Fools' Day; more importantly, they were introduced before the widespread review of U.S. cybersecurity ordered by President Obama is completed by Melissa Hathaway, acting senior director for cyberspace for the National Security and Homeland Security Councils. How convenient. Computerworld continues, noting that there are actually two pieces of legislation (S. 778 and S. 773) involved in all of this. It would seem to make more sense to wait and see what Hathaway thinks is broken before submitting bills to fix it. While I expect that the bills will be changed when Hathaway reports her findings in a few weeks, the current bills are interesting and have the potential to impact just about everyone in the network or network security business. The first bill (S 778) would establish an Office of National Cybersecurity Advisor within the Executive Office of the President. The second (S 773), which goes by the title of "The Cybersecurity Act of 2009," covers a grab bag of topics designed to "ensure the continued free flow of commerce within the United States and with its global trading partners through secure cyber communications", among other things. Just one little problem: The Cybersecurity Act of 2009 does not provide a good definition of what a critical network or system is. In other words, Obama could decide that some portion (or all) of the Internet is "critical" and then order it shut down. Wait, that's actually a big problem. Escapist Magazine provides link to the bill's text (PDF), as well as more information: "....the Cybersecurity Act that would create the Office of the National Cybersecurity Advisor. Its powers are detailed in the The Cybersecurity Act of 2009 (PDF), and this is where it gets very scary indeed. If the President so chooses, he can call a "cybersecurity emergency" and shut down or limit any 'net traffic on a "critical" network "in the name of national security," though the bill fails to provide concrete definitions on what is "critical" or what constitutes an "emergency." Scary? Sure, unless you're still brain dead from Obama's two-plus years of hipmotizing the American Sheeple. If you're still thinking Obama is the Messiah, then you probably welcome this further step toward his total fascistic rule of Amerika. Obama's Economic Suicide

Barack Obama is a Democrat, and like most Democrats, he just doesn't understand the realities of economics in a democracy. Unlike most Democrats, however, he seems hell bent on destroying the economic system we have now. Although the current system has a cold - a very bad cold - neo-fascist Obama intends to "cure" it with an amputation and a frontal lobotomy. Obama seems more comfortable with state-controlled economy than most Americans - or Europeans, for that matter - would be comfortable with. A few notable Europeans, however, who might have embraced Obama's approach to the economy: Lenin, Stalin, Hitler, Marx and Mussolini. Over in Asia, Mao and Ho Chi Minh might have found plenty to agree with, too. Michael Boskin writes that Obama's policies seem to be nothing less than the promotion of the pork he promised there would be no more of, earmarks he promised there would no more of, and compounding the damage to the bruised economy he promised to fix. Promises, promises. The illusion that Barack Obama will lead from the economic center has quickly come to an end. Instead of combining the best policies of past Democratic presidents - John Kennedy on taxes, Bill Clinton on welfare reform and a balanced budget, for instance - President Obama is returning to Jimmy Carter's higher taxes and Mr. Clinton's draconian defense drawdown. Boskin praises a handful of things that Obama is doing, such as "testing in agriculture and medical payments; permanent indexing of the alternative minimum tax and other tax reductions." That's not enough to satisfy Boskin, however: The specific problems, however, far outweigh the positives. First are the quite optimistic forecasts, despite the higher taxes and government micromanagement that will harm the economy. The budget projects a much shallower recession and stronger recovery than private forecasters or the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office are projecting. It implies a vast amount of additional spending and higher taxes, above and beyond even these record levels. For example, it calls for a down payment on universal health care, with the additional "resources" needed "TBD" (to be determined). It's as though Obama's pretty campaign promises had no solid plans to back them up. From the poorly designed stimulus bill and vague new financial rescue plan, to the enormous expansion of government spending, taxes and debt somehow permanently strengthening economic growth, the assumptions underlying the president's economic program seem bereft of rigorous analysis and a careful reading of history. Perhaps Obama should read about all of the places and times in which socialism has failed miserably. A rigorous analysis and careful reading of history by Obama might benefit us all, but only if he can see through the fuzzy haze of his Liberal -Socialist-neo-Fascist ideology. Obama, Neo-Fascist

Is Obama a socialist? Yes, in some ways, but Michael Ledeen contends he's really more of a fascist. Not "Nazi." Fascist. There's a huge difference, and without getting into a long lesson in economic theory or modern history, suffice it to say that fascism and socialism both are economic systems. Like capitalism, there are many variations possible with each. Like socialism (and its more serious sibling communism), fascism can be mixed with genocidal tendencies, but neither genocide nor fascism nor socialism/communism are mutually dependent. Non-murderous socialist states and non-murderous fascist states are entirely possible.
If classical liberalism spells individualism, Fascism spells government.
Benito Mussolini
Unfortunately, we've seen the horrors when fascism and socialism are carried to extremes, as with Hilter's Third Reich and Stalin's Soviet Union. Socialist Stalin, by the way, imprisoned and killed far more people than did fascist Hitler. Some numbers: 61,911,000 Murdered: The Soviet Gulag State 35,236,000 Murdered: The Communist Chinese 20,946,000 Murdered: The Nazi Genocide State (Soucre; also see here)
I am a Socialist, and a very different kind of Socialist from your rich friend, Count Reventlow. ... What you understand by Socialism is nothing more than Marxism. Adolf Hitler, spoken to Otto Strasser, Berlin, May 21, 1930
No, we're not calling any Democrats "Nazis." Ledeen explains himself at Pajamas Media. There, on Feb. 12, he wrote "We Are All Fascists Now" (his response to Newsweeks' "We Are All Socialists Now"). Here is an excerpt from Ledeen's column: What is happening now–and Newsweek is honest enough to say so down in the body of the article–is an expansion of the state’s role, an increase in public/private joint ventures and partnerships, and much more state regulation of business. Yes, it’s very “European,” and some of the Europeans even call it “social democracy,” but it isn’t. It’s fascism. Nobody calls it by its proper name, for two basic reasons: first, because “fascism” has long since lost its actual, historical, content; it’s been a pure epithet for many decades. Lots of the people writing about current events like what Obama et. al. are doing, and wouldn’t want to stigmatize it with that “f” epithet. One of the great ironies of modern political "debate" is the unthinking, knee-jerk tendency of "liberals" to throw the word "fascist" at their opponents. If they knew what they were saying, if they understood history and economic theory, those liberals would not call their pro-market, pro-individualism, pro-self reliance opponents "fascists." If they knew better, they would understand that it's like the pot calling the china black. VIDEO: BLACK PANTHERS INTIMIDATING PHILLY VOTERS

Black Panthers with night sticks are "guarding" polling places in Philadelphia, the "City uh Bubbally Luhhh," where voters must walking past the men in their intimidating "uniforms" and cold stares. One of the Panthers was escorted away by police. Perhaps the Black Panthers can head up Obama's proposed Civilian Militia? As the Weekly Standard just wrote, "Intimidation, of course, takes many forms. And, in their ever magnificent projection performance, Democrats will whine that it's Republicans doing all the intimidating by, err, having people stand in line to vote, or something." Uh huh, uh huh, uh huh. WATCH THIS DISTURBING VIDEO OF BLACK PANTHERS "GUARDING" A POLLING PLACE:

Nothing To Fear But Free Speech Itself

Obama thugs tried to shut down a Chicago talk show this week. It was an orchestrated effort by the Obama campaign to intimidate WGN 720 AM, guest Stanley Kurtz and host Milt Rosenberg. The Democrats pretend to love freedom of speech, but they truly don't. They fear like vampires fear sun light. They use confrontation, bullying, fascist-like tactics to suppress free speech. LIKE THIS: Here is the text of the e-mail the Obama campaign sent to supporters [Source: Chicago Tribune] LISTEN to Milt's show with Stanley Kurtz: download the whole show as a podcast(mp3 file here. OBAMA'S LIBERAL FASCISM

MICHELLE OBAMA said something very, very scary recently (again)...

Caroline B. Glick writes that Mizz Obama said the scary thing in February. It is scary for several reasons, which Glick details nicely, including an unexpected swerve into Obama's F-Bomb.

Glick begins with: "Speaking in February of the man she knows better than anyone else does, Michelle Obama said that her husband, Illinois Senator and candidate for the Democratic Presidential nomination Barack Obama, is the only candidate for president who understands that before America can solve its problems, Americans have to fix their 'broken souls'."

That's right. The arguably leading Democrat contender (we'll know after Pennsylvania's done voting tonight) for his party's nomination is your saviour. He wants to heal you, brothers and sisters, he will lay hands on you and you shall see again. You shall see as he commands you to see. What is, what is shall be.

Glick goes on: "She also said that her husband's unique understanding of the state of souls of the American people makes him uniquely qualified to be President."

This is amusing - and disturbing. The Democrat(ic) Party is the party that embraces atheism, agnosticism, and people who openly mock and insult those on the "Religious Right." Just as their fascist policies are not to be called fascist when they promote them, their religious goofiness is not to be called what it is when they do it. That's what you get when you believe in relativism, post-modern denial of absolutes, and Marxist Revolutionary Truth.

Glick suddenly swerves in an unexpected direction, again quoting Mizz Obama: "'Barack Obama will require you to work. He is going to demand that you shed your cynicism. That you put down your divisions. That you come out of your isolation, that you move out of your comfort zone. That you push yourselves to be better. And that you engage. Barack will never allow you to go back to your lives as usual, uninvolved, uninformed'."

See, that thing about never allowing you to go back to your lives as usual scares crap outa most people. So here comes the F-Bomb. Not what you think, friend. Nope. The F-Bomb that Glick drops is ... fascism.

Heil Obama

"At base, Mrs. Obama's statement is nothing less than a renunciation of democracy and an embrace of fascism." writes Glick. "The basic idea of liberty is that people have a natural right to live their lives as usual and to be uninvolved and uninformed. And they certainly have a right to expect that their government will butt out of their souls."

Yipes! I wonder if Glick fully understands the bee hive she just stuck her hand into. Probably so, but it seems she's not the first to offer up the Obama-as-fascist thing.

"In contrast," Glick writes, "fascist societies, as Jonah Goldberg notes in the latest issue of National Review, are all about the notions of 'unity' and 'change' and melding our broken souls into a fixed, united will for change that Obama has made the core theme of his campaign. [Jonah] Goldberg compared 'unity' with 'patriotism,' and explained that while the latter connotes the willingness to defend the moral values of a society, unity is bereft of any moral content. 'The only value of unity is strength, strength in numbers - and... that is a fascist value. That's the symbolism of the fasces, the bundle of sticks that in combination are invincible'."

European Super State

Creepy. Hitler could only dream of this kind of power. And not a shot was fired (unless you consider two world wars and all the wars before them to get Europe to this point). All hail the new Holy Roman Empire! EU leaders have signed a treaty in the Portuguese capital, Lisbon, that is expected to greatly alter the way the 27-nation body operates. The treaty creates an EU president and a more powerful foreign policy chief. The document, signed at a ceremony at the city's historic Jeronimos Monastery, also scraps veto powers in many policy areas. Full Story at BBC...

Joe Moore as "Laissez Faire" Liberal

Francis Scudellari (”FS”) wrote a thoughtful comment regarding “Fascism Lite" (below). Is Francis capitalist-baiting? Am I red-baiting? No, we're just having a conversation. Conversation is good, nyet? RPB's Tom Mannis ("TM") thoughtfully responds below. FS: You're leaving out two key aspects of what Fascism was/is -- hyper nationalism and the coporatization [sic] of the State. The Republicans and Democrats in modern day USA could be accused quite successfully of advocating the latter, as our government has been completely merged with corporate boardrooms. TM: No serious argument here, but you either miss or avoid the bigger point that fascism and communism (the extreme edges of the political spectrum) are indistinguishable in terms of practice and effect.
