Westgard's Transparent and Pathetic Move
Local attorney and tragic hypocrite Thomas J. Westgard and I actually agreed on something, which scares the crap out of me. Yesterday, we both criticized Cook County Commissioner William "Big Nuts" Beavers for blaming racism on Cook County President Todd Stroger's inability to get his budget passed. Beavers said on Tuesday that Stroger is having political problems "because he's black."
Yesterday, Westgard wrote, "Beavers and Stroger must really be running out of political power, if they're reduced to such a transparent and pathetic move."
What a load of shit. No no, I agree with what Westgard wrote. But does Westgard really believe what he wrote? Westgard used exactly the same "transparent and pathetic move" himself, as the former campaign chair of the failed Ginderske 2007 aldermanic campaign. Ginderske lost to incumbent Moore in February, who went on to beat Don Gordon in the April run-off. That's when Westgard and others used their own Beavers-like race card.
While Ginderske was still in the race, Joe Moore's flunkies were telling voters - particularly black voters north of Howard Street - that progressive Democrat Jim Ginderske was a Republican who wanted to get rid of all the black people in Rogers Park. This was a complete lie. Westgard protested, of course. Meanwhile, Westgard told anybody who would listen that candidate Don Gordon was a Nazi and a racist.
After Ginderske lost, both he and Westgard jumped into bed with Moore and started telling voters - particularly black voters north of Howard Street - that the moderately liberal Don Gordon was a Republican who wanted to get rid of all the black people in Rogers Park. But it got even uglier.
Westgard repeatedly and viciously called Mr. Gordon a Nazi and a racist. Mr. Gordon is neither, and Westgard knew that. Westgard's ugly, intentional lies were hurtful. But that was his intention. Give Beavers some credit: Unlike Westgard, at least Beavers's lie was not a vicious personal attack intended to destroy an individual's reputation.
As another local blogger wrote at the time, we still await Mr. Westgard's apology. He should do so before hypocritically criticizing Beavers or anybody else for the same sins of which he is so publicly and unrepentantly guilty.

So The Bench considered what things would be like if Todd Stroger was white, not black.
If Todd Stroger Was White, he wouldn't be President of Cook County. Many black friends and acquaintances of mine have admitted that the only reason they voted for Stroger was "because he's a brother." Dumb reason, but there it is. If Stroger was not black, far fewer black voters in Cook County would have chosen him.
If Todd Stroger Was White, blacks and liberals would call him a racist for the way he has hurt thousands of black and minority poor in this county. One of the biggest - and worst - ways that Stroger's idiotic reign has hurt folks is by severe cuts in county health facilities. Another reason is the way he wants to raise taxes.
If Todd Stroger Was White, he'd be called "regressive" by liberals and black leaders. Why? Taxes, pal, taxes. Stroger and his Gang of Thieves want more taxes on already highly taxed cigarettes and alcohol. And hell, just about everything else, including the sales tax, which cover just about everything. But Stroger has two things going for him here: He is black, so liberal black leaders give him a pass. He's a "Democrat," so most knee-jerk libs give him a pass.
If Todd Stroger Was White, liberals and Democrats would mockingly call his administration a "dynasty," because he virtually inherited it from his father John. John Stroger was the president of Cook County until he had a stroke during the campaign last year. Tough break for John. No break at all for Cook County residents.
If Todd Stroger Was White, none of his supporters would dare charge that he couldn't pass a budget "because he's white" and that board members would not cooperate with him because of race. If they did, they themselves would be called racists by liberals, Dems and the press - and rightly so.
If Todd Stroger Was White, William Beavers would hate him for being white.
If Todd Stroger Was White, I would not like him any more than I like him as a black guy. If he was white, I would dislike him just as much. This is not about race, contrary to what racists like William Beavers say. It's about intelligence and fiscal responsibility. It's not about black versus white. It's about power hungry, unethical politicians versus the hard working, long suffering residents of Cook County.

The Sun-Times reports today that Cook County Commissioner William Beavers said that "Cook County Board President Todd Stroger can't get his budget passed "because he's black." Huh?
It has nothing to do, would it, with the fact that Stroger's monstrous billion dollar budget is irresponsible, huh? No, of course not. All those wicked crackers on the Cook County Board are just a bunch of racists! For Beavers, a clown who earlier this year bragged about the size of his testicles, to say such a thing is shameful. But Beavers himself is black. Of course, that makes him an expert on how honkies think. Right? Well, no, that's wrong. For Beavers to assume that non-black board members are being racist is itself a racist assumption.
"Who's gonna control the county -- white or black -- that's all this is," Beavers said.

The Cook County budget is about as lean as the waistline of 49th Ward Committeeman David Fagus (left) - not very. In fact, it's bulging with fat. Cook County Health Care Stupidity
These are the fools who want to run YOUR health care.
The story in the Chicago Tribune takes a good look at just how screwed up government - on any level - can get, and it doesn't get much more screwed up than it has here in Cook County. The story shows how irresponsible and delusional politicians are when it comes to finances. Much of the story centers around the incredibly stupid way in which Cook County's health services have run, how unrealistic the Cook County government is about it, and that they want to raise your taxes to make up for their stupidity. Consider this as you read about Cook County: People like this want to take over your health care. They've done a lousy job with Cook County. Imagine this on a national scale.
County Commissioner Forrest Claypool (D-Chicago), who unsuccessfully ran for board president last year and is widely viewed as a potential candidate again in 2010, said the extra Medicaid funds let the county continue to operate without becoming more efficient and businesslike. Claypool said the funding "masked for many years the underlying dysfunction of the health-care system and the huge waste and bloat and patronage at the top of the system. 88,000 People Flee Cook County
Over the past seven years, 88,000 refugees in search of a better life have fled the Peoples Democratic Republic of Cook County.From the Sun-Times:
Census population estimates released today show Cook County posted the third biggest decline in the nation, losing 88,000 residents since 2000.
Only counties surrounding New Orleans, ravaged by a hurricane, and Detroit, clobbered by a declining auto industry, lost more.

Obama: Just Another Good Ol' Boy
Joe Moore and Todd Stroger and Barack Obama are buddies. And they have so much in common: Each other's support.
Both Moore and Obama are beholden to their master, the Howard Dean-controlled Democrat National Committee (DNC). The DNC has become everything it once criticized: An ingrown, self-absorbed, self-centered special interest group that has taken over the Democratic Party like some kind of body snatcher.
Barack Obama has shown himself to be nothing more than just another good ol' boy, part of the network that looks out for its own elite members, and the People are just tools to help them achieve their personal goals of power. So in a creepy way, the blind support that Obama has given to Moore is understandable: They both belong to the same country club, the DNC.
Moore's reelection campaign employs, among others, ex-Schakowsky minion Alex Armour, as well as Schakowsky's convicted felon husband. Incest makes for strange bedfellows.
Barack Obama, the guy who promised us he would serve out his full term as a Senator and not run for president in 2008, is running for president and - if elected - will not serve out his full term as Senator. Strike one.
But Obama's support of Todd Stroger's candidacy for Cook County PResident is hard to understand until you connect the dots back to the DNC. As far as I know, Todd is not a DNC member. If I'm wrong let me know, please. Why would Barack Obama back Stroger? The question is inescapable: Did he support Stroger just because Stroger is nominally a Democrat, or because Stroger is black?
In either case, why would a U.S. Senator, getting ready to run for president, bother with a county board presidential race? Again, the DNC. The DNC told - ordered - Barack to support Stroger. Just as they told him to back Moore, a freekin' alderman for God's sake. You think Hillary or Rudy are going to lend their support to aldermanic candidates in New York?

Todd Stroger's Comedy Corner
I've pointed out a number of time that Alderman Joe Moore made Chicago a laughing stock with his anti-foie gras ordinance which, surprisingly, Mayor Daley has not yet vetoed.
Todd Stroger is also in the comedy business, causing guffaws and snickers around the country. Take this example, for instance, of a post entitled "Cook County IL Abolishes Democracy" from a blogger in Biloxi.
A bit of an exageration, perhaps - after all, thousands of stupid people were allowed to vote for Todd Stroger. They got what they deserved, but what about the innocent victims who did not vote for Todd? Oh, by the way, Barack Obama gave a gratuitous endorsement to Todd Stroger. More on that later.....
