"I WANT THAT KIND OF ABUSE"

The wife of 49th Ward Democrat Committeeman David Fagus recently wrote that "A child with a mark from a belt has not been abused" and that "You can discipline your child however you like." My my. And Mrs. Fagus is also known as Officer Tanya Fagus, Chicago Police Department. Does hubby David agree with the Missus about whipping a child to the point of leaving a mark, and that a parent can discipline a child in any way they choose? Officer Tanya wrote this on her blog, "Tanya Talk." I suppose it should really be called "Tanya Writing" or something like that. She doesn't actually talk on her blog, you see. Here is the entire pro-child beating piece, reproduced below. And, of course, archived to my online Google library. (Red highlighting below is mine.) January 10, 2008 Discipline is Good - Hitting is Better! Proverbs 13:24 "He who spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is careful to discipline him" I hate to see parents being arrested for disciplining their children. There I said it! You can discipline your child however you like and you should respect the rights of other parents to do the same. Do not confuse discipline with abuse because they are two very different things. A child with a mark from a belt has not been abused and I dare say that whatever the child did to cause him to have to be hit will not happen again. How can it be abuse when the child has their own room with a television so many clothes there is no room for them and tennis shoes that cost more than my mortgage? I want that kind of abuse. Time out does not always work and you need to know how and when to take it up a notch and if that is what a parent has to do we should not tell them otherwise. We are not at home with that family so we don't know. We do not know the struggles the parents are having with the child, we do not know what the parents have tried or what they have gone through with their child. So stay out of it. We want it all. we want kids to manner able and respectful and we want to tell their parents how to make that happen and we never want to offer a hand. We are back seat parents. If no one ask for your advise keep it to your self! Please do not tell me how hitting kids causes them to be afraid. They Should Be! Children have no respect for adults and/or authority and they grow up to be adults who have no respect for authority. Thus a cycle has been created. You teach your kids to be afraid of fire, strangers, dogs, and who knows what else but to be afraid of your parents whom you should respect is a bad thing. WHAT! Perhaps the problem is that we have forgotten that you can not be a child's friend and their parent. If you do not know how to separate the two my advise is to chose being a parent in the long run its better your kids can always make friends they only have you as their parents. Being a parent is a serious job with lots of responsibilities. Treat it that way! If I have heard it once I have heard it a thousand times; We take a test to drive but we will let any idiot be a parent!!!!! (Let the backlash begin.)

Dud: 49th Ward Democrat Rally

More proof that Barack Obama is not the fresh new type of politician he claims to be: He's backed by the same old corrupt party hacks the he has endorsed.

For example, the 49th Ward Democratic Party Rally today at the Loyola Park Field House in Rogers Park. The bullet points:

- It was held in a very small room.
- It was organized by party hacks David Fagus and Joe Moore, two cogs in the local Machine.
- It was co-organized by "President" Michael James, known as "Mike" when he was more
active in SDS than he is now.

These hacks, who have slapped each other's backs for years while looking the other way during liquor license violations, polling booth violations, and check kiting are enthusiastically backing Barack Obama.

Michael James, Joe Moore's lap dog, as president of the 49th Ward Democratic Party? Yipes. That should make a few Dems rethink their party alignment. (More on Michael James.)

Was Tony Rezko in attendance? I didn't see Rezko. Was Todd Stroger at the rally? Didn't see him, either, but he should have been. After all, Joe Moore, David Fagus and Barack Obama all endorsed Todd. Heather Steans's hack supporters were here in numbers, handing out literature.

After the rally, a Joe Moore sat in the empty room with David Fagus and Jim Ginderske. They seemed tense, uneasy. Perhaps it's because the rally didn't rally many people or because most of the Machine Democrat candidates' lawn signs sat unwanted in the hallway.

Obama: Same Old Crap, New Package

And here's the proof. 49th Ward Alderman Joe Moore and 49th Ward Democrat Committeeman David Fagus are backing Barack in his bid to "bring change" to Amerika. Right. If Mr. Obama, friend of Tony Rezko, really really really stood for change then major political hacks like Moore and Fagus would not support him. In an email from Moore and Fagus today, we're all urged to attend a pro-Obama rally this coming weekend at Loyola. Obama endorsed Todd Stroger for President of the Cook County Board. Obama is new and fresh? Don't fool yourselves. Heather Steans, another Machine politician, will be in the rally, too. REMEMBER: FAGUS = STROGER = MOORE = OBAMA = REZKO = MACHINE POLITICS AS USUAL.

Rally for Barack Obama and Heather Steans

"But in the unlikely story that is America, there has never been anything false about hope. For when we have faced down impossible odds; when we've been told that we're not ready, or that we shouldn't try, or that we can't, generations of Americans have responded with a
simple creed that sums up the spirit of a people.

"Yes we can."

Barack Obama
January 8, 2008

Dear Neighbor,

Barack Obama's inspirational words last night in New Hampshire serve as a clarion call to action for all of us who love our country but despair at the direction our nation has taken. His presidential campaign represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to fundamentally change the course of America, and move our great nation one giant step forward to fulfilling its promise.

As the results of the New Hampshire primary demonstrate, the road will not be easy. But the battle for our nation's future is worth it.

Won't you join us?

We will be hosting a RALLY FOR BARACK OBAMA this Saturday, January 12th, 10 a.m. at the Loyola Park Fieldhouse, 1240 W. Greenleaf, 2nd Floor. We will also be rallying support for HEATHER STEANS, a fresh new progressive face to the local political scene and our candidate for the Illinois State Senate.

Congresswoman JAN SCHAKOWSKY will be our featured speaker.

Senator Obama will be campaigning in Nevada and South Carolina, but he needs us to start woking for him here in Illinois. A big victory in Illinois will go a long way to securing his nomination for President. And a big voter turn-out in the 49th Ward, long a bastion of Obama support, will make that happen.

Please join us this Saturday and enlist in our campaign for change!

Sincerely,

DAVE FAGUS
Democratic Committeeman

JOE MOORE
Alderman

How to Vote in February

The Bench humbly offers some advice for voting in the upcoming February 5, 2008 election, specifically for those interned in the 49th Ward of Chicago. The election will include candidates for offices from local to federal. But this is about the 49th Ward. Because it's a primary, you must vote your party's line. 49th Ward Democratic Committeeman - Your only candidate is David Fagus, but he's not your only choice. You can choose to skip this part of the ballot, to opt to not cast a vote for this vile imitation of a human being, this Blagojevich suck up, this Joe Moore toady. He'll win anyway, but let's give him an embarrassingly low vote. In other words, vote for the other candidates for other offices, but just don't cast a vote for Fagus. 49th Ward Republican Committeeman - This is a powerless office these days, so it really doesn't matter much. But please do NOT vote for incumbent Robert Shearer, a man so low key and so apathetic about the office he's held for years that he deserves to lose. Vote for anybody but Shearer. RELATED: A Fagus Endorsement Means Squat Nice one by the Craigster, who had the good taste to use my photo of W's dog.

7-11: The Nightmare That Almost Was

This 7-Eleven at Pratt and Glenwood in Chicago's Rogers Park neighborhood wanted a liquor license. The neighborhood spoke so loudly and passionately on October 23, however, that the local alderman was forced to deny 7-11's request.

But will the voters of the 49th Ward of Chicago show the same resolve in shaking off the man who controls the election booths: David Fagus? We'll find out in February of 2008.

Cook County: Bleeding Like a Stuck Pig

Cook County is very, very sick. Ironically, it's the socialized health care that is the main cause of the syndrome that is bleeding it to death. Democrats have been controlling Cook County for decades. Democrats are bleeding it, sucking everything out like a full jar of leeches on a hemoraghic patient. Note to the open minded free thinkers out there: Stop voting for "Democrats" just because they call themselves Democrats. Todd Stroger is a Democrat. Mayor Daley is a Democrat. Rod Blagojevich is a Democrat. Do you like the way they've handled your money? Are you looking forward to their proposed tax hikes? The Chicago Tribune today featured an excellent summary of the critically ill Cook County, even if it is somewhat overly optimistic. The Trib seems to think that the politicians - you know, David Fagus, Todd Stroger, the rest of the Gang - actually want to fix the problems. Let's be blunt: They are at once too stupid to be able to fix it, and too crooked (as the Trib hints) to want to fix it. They have too much power to hold on to, too much power to lose. The pigs are at the trough, folks, and they really don't want to leave it. FIRST, STABILIZE THE PATIENT Chicago Tribune, October 26, 2007 Patronage and empire-building have so harmed Cook County's delivery of health care to poor citizens that it may take years to repair the damage. The decades of abuse and neglect trace straight to the offices of the County Board president and a generation of board members -- local pols who have no business managing an $800-million-a-year health system. The Bureau of Health debacle is so severe that the most urgent question isn't how to fix it: First, someone needs to stabilize the patient. That means pushing aside the Cook County politicians and introducing new oversight. County Commissioner Larry Suffredin, in league with an ad hoc coalition called the Emergency Network to Save Cook County Health Services, proposes an independent interim board of trustees. That would rescue management of the health system from county government's disastrous rule for at least three years. FULL COMMENTARY...

David Fagus: Shadow Man

Who the hell is David Fagus? He's several things: An overpaid employee of Cook County, a lacky of shithead Todd Stroger, a lacky of DNC puppet Alderman Joe Moore, the 49th Ward Democratic Committeeman, and a very mysterious guy. He's a guy who, very strangely, works overtime to keep himself out of the news. What is he hiding?

He is the 49th Ward Democrat Committeeman. He is the chief operating officer (COO) of Cermak Health Services of Cook County, and paid $113,703 for that job. How has he stayed out of the news? And being paid so much for that Cook County job, is it any wonder that Fagus is always eager to wash Todd Stroger's dirty underwear?

FOR A MAN WHO IS A WARD COMMITTEEMAN AND THE COO OF A MAJOR HOSPITAL, HOW DOES DAVID FAGUS HAVE NO REFERENCES IN A GOOGLE NEWS SEARCH???

Hugh Devlin writes: To re-elect Moore's hand-picked stooge David Fagus to Democratic Ward Committeeman, Moore and Fagus need to RUN AWAY from Fagus' day job: running a Cook County hospital. Watch and listen over the coming months as the Laurel & Hardy of Rogers Park explain that Democratic party posts in Cook County have NOTHING to do with JOBS in Cook County. It is merely a WILD-ASS CO-INCIDENCE that Fagus is the $113,703 per year Chief Operating Officer of Cermak Health Services of Cook County, and anyone who intimates otherwise is being impolite. And Fagus' hefty raise right after Toddler Stroger's re-election, that's just ANOTHER crazy co-incidence, too. Fagus WANTS to work for the County for $114K/yr and for the Party for free!

David Fagus: Are You Shitting Me?

Dogmatic imbecile David Fagus, lacky and boot licker of Chicago's 49th Ward Alderman Joe Moore, is "running" for re-election. Oh, yes, there's an election in February of 2008, and Fagus wants to be reelected to the position of 49th Ward Democratic Committeeman. What does that mean? It means that he gets to pick the majority of election judges for the ward, which is partly to explain why the 49th Ward aldermanic elections of February and April, 2007 were so suspicious. Fagus is such a mindless lacky, and so out of touch with voters and reality, that he is apparently unaware that the vast majority of Cook County residents list Cook County President Todd Stroger in their Top Ten List of Most Hated People. And here's a typical example from the overfed Fagus, who wrote the following pitiful example of butt kissing on October 7: Todd Stroger Turns It On! As the election draws near, the campaign of Todd Stroger has grown into something we can all support. The social issues are only the tip of the iceberg, but they do bear repeating. Only Todd Stroger is pro-choice, pro-GLBT and in favor of gun control. His position on reforming the Office of the Inspector General is a very strong stance on changing the culture at the county. While there may be a need for the FBI and the US Attorney in some cases, the long-term solution is to cure the problem from within. This initiative will provide a long-term solution. Stroger has also stepped up and delivered a plan to restore the publics confidence, and more importantly the children’s welfare, at the Juvenile Temporary Detention Center. A solid plan that goes even farther than President Steele has gone in her bold moves to improve the quality of the facility. Stroger has also been busy picking up endorsements. Personal PAC the strongest pro-choice committee in Chicago supports Stroger. The Chicago Federation of Labor supports Stroger for President because of his record of supporting working people. The Independent Voters of Illinois - Independent Precinct Organization, the longest and best-known progressive and independent organization in the city, has endorsed and support Todd Stroger. Stroger also pledged to be a full-time County Board President, and given the tremendous challenges ahead of the County I cannot see how anyone could hope to get the job done any other way. Locally, many of our most thoughtful and respected office holders have endorsed Stroger. Those people include: Cong. Jan Schakowsky, Comm. Larry Suffredin, and Comm. Mike Quigley not only three former Claypool supporters, but also his campaign manager. The tide seemed to turn at a September 25, 2006 debate where Stroger stepped up his game and took his issues hard to his opponent. The election is drawing near. Our Democratic candidate is hitting his stride and reminding us who we are, what we stand for and what we believe in. Go Democrats! Democrats across Cook County are distancing themselves from Todd Stroger. Fagus, however, is a lacky of Stroger. The Election of February 2008

Gearing up for the February 2008 election...
Did you know that the 49th Ward has TWO committeemen?

Hugh wrote a gem and posted it at the 24/7 North of Howard Watchers blog. Sayeth Hugh:

Alderman Joe Moore revealed the cornerstone of his strategy for re-electing his chief flunky, David Fagus to the local Democratic Party post of Committeeman from the 49th Ward:A Vote for Dave is a Vote for Barack!

Yes, this is good stuff. Kudos to Hugh. This should remind us all that Comrade David Fagus and Comrade Joe Moore also heartily backed His Royal Highness, Cook County President Todd Stroger. Ya happy with that? Hugh twists the knife a bit Moore:

"David Fagus is the Democratic ward committeeman. He's up for [re-]election next March. He's really built a very diverse and representative Party in the 49th Ward. I'm proud to count him as a friend. I look forward to working with him, because we've got some important elections coming up. First of all, our own US Senator Barack Obama. Both Dave and I are very strong supporters of Senator Obama, and we want to do whatever we can to help him win."

As the Democrat Party's committeeman of this ward, Fagus has the power to appoint election judges for the polling places. What does this mean? Why, it means that Flunky Fagus appoints party hacks and morons to be election judges, which is why Moore has been able to get away with the crapola at the polling places for so long. Remember the photo (left) of Moore talking to an old woman while she was voting? Any honest election judge would have physically tackled Moore and dragged him screaming out of the room. But not the Fagus Crew, no sirree.

Get ready for the February 2008 elections. Yes, it seems boring. Yes, it's in a shitty month by design. Yes, they expect you to vote Democrat. But hey, Democrat voters of the 49th Ward, are YOU really happy with the shits that you've voted in so far? Fagus, Moore, Stroger, and on and on and on. Time for a change people. A strong Republican ward committeeman is your best hope for a strong opposition to counter more Machine fraud and hijinx. Unfortunately, we have not yet had a strong Republican in the 49th. Before you freak out, know this: A vote for a Republican ward committeeman is NOT a vote for the party at large. The committeeman is an unpaid position, but quietly powerful. If you want to keep the corruption in place, vote for Fagus. If you want change, vote for the Republican committeeman. Yes, a Democrat can go to the polls and vote for a Republican. If you really think you're an independent thinker, you'll give this serious consideration. More, much more, about this later....

Shameless: Fagus and Moore

While the Glenwood Arts Festival was in full swing, an event to promote the local business community, some locally important Democrats were shamelessly engaged in self-promotion just a few blocks away. Hundreds of folks who might otherwise have been mingling with more productive members of the community were instead lined up for free food and handouts from the Moore and Fagus mini-machine.

49th Ward Democratic Committeeman David Fagus will be up for re-election soon, so it's not too soon to start buying votes by handing out free crap and free food to the local Party Faithful. Gotta keep 'em faithful, after all, and after three generations of hand outs the crowd at Loyola Park was just getting what they've become accustomed to - and expect to get. Fagus, a big Todd Stroger fan, is perhaps a bit worried that his campaign could be as hard-fought at Moore's recent re-election struggle was. Moore squeaked by; Fagus might not.

Alderman Joe Moore (49th Ward) is only too happy to share his "Back to School" mass-bribery party in the park with fat cat and political ally Fagus. Moore's annual event is nothing more than a feel-good, free-food affair designed to satisfy the useful idiot and minor apparatchiks who do so much of his footwork.

But what is especially disgusting
is the shameless way in which Moore and Fagus happily drew people - and attention - away from the Glenwood Arts Fest. They could have had the event next weekend, knowing months in advance when the Glenwood Arts Fest would be. To add insult to injury, a large tree branch that went down five days ago still blocks a bike path (photo, right), just yards away from the event held by Moore, a man who cares not a whit for the condition of Loyola Park.

But no, gotta buy
those votes as soon they can, private business interests be damned. Besides, Moore and Fagus are not stupid. They know that the crowd lining up for free crap in the park are their crowd, not the damned yuppies and recently-bathed crowd over on Glenwood this weekend. Merchants? Hell no! Moore and Fagus would rather pander to the Link Card crowd. It's a skill they've honed to perfection.

David Orr
had a tent at the event, too. But seriously: Who cares?

Flaming Fagus

Big tip of the hat to Toni at Howardwatchers, who today asks, "Hey, Fagus: Where's the Outrage?"

BTW, how does a guy like Chicago's 49th Ward Committeeman David Fagus keep his name out of the mainstream news media???

Do a Google News search for "David Fagus" and you get - Nothing! A regular web search on Google produces about 1,170 hits. Weird. Fagus calls himself a "progressive," and he is, I suppose, if you also consider Stalin to be a "progressive." Fagus, who could have been poorly sculpted from a big lump of Spam, is well practiced in the art of agitprop.

Fagus' web site is nothing more than a propaganda sheet, a spewing of lies and cheerleading for his fellow Elitists who lead by the means of the Big Lie. For example:

Todd Stroger Turns it On!
Turns it on? Yes, turns on the big salaries for friends and family. Stroger is a party hack, so fellow party hack Fagus defends him even though Stroger is arguably the most reviled individual in Cook County. Fagus was earning $87,479 as executive assistant at Cermak Hospital, but now, as COO, is earning $113,703. Boy, he and Todd have sure improved things for Stroger Hospital, haven't they?

Blagojevich Getting It Done! Yes, and his administration is under investigation for massive fraud and corruption. Blago and Tony Rezko? Stay tuned.

Fagus Shmagus

A funny and scathing bit about Fagus the Great, by friend Jocelyn. Note to David Fagus: Please Quit Your Day Job. Note to David Fagus: Please Quit Your Day Job. With all due respect Mr. Fagus, a great writer or deep thinker you are not. Or at least your blog posts don't reveal you to be. Your latest post, while perhaps well-intentioned, is lame.... Note: Fagus is due very little respect.

David Fagus: You Will Obey

Toni's got a hot one today. First, Toni cites a direct quote from David Fagus's "49thWard" propaganda blog, in which he refers to the new term of Alderman Joe "Under Investigation" Moore. Fagus is the 49th Ward's "Democratic" Committeeman. Fagus is a skillful propagandist, as Toni aptly points out:

"This new term is an opportunity to put many ideas on the table and have them looked over. I would urge all of those who have some idea of how they would like to see things go forward to make written suggestions and send them to the Alderman’s office." ~ David Fagus

Toni adds her commentary:

At an actual human face-to-face ‘neighborly chat session’ this evening we learned the RFP status of the Broadmoor more or less by accident. It did NOT come from a Ward 49 email blast. I have asked the status of the Broadmoor of the ward office. I have asked at CAPS meetings and received no response. I have even asked on the blog since I know ‘they’ read blogs!

It appears that with this ‘new term’ the opportunity to put ideas on the table hasn’t changed much from the ‘old term’. We’re told what we’re supposed to know when our public servants deem it appropriate to inform us. In other words, after the fact.

Yes, after the fact, you and I are told how it's going to be. Our input doesn't mean much to Fagus, Moore and Company. Read the rest of Toni's excellent analysis.

Calling the Kettle Black

Now and then there's something entertaining even from those you revile and consider essentially dishonest and loathsome. This item, for example, from David Fagus, who responds to someone that RPB considers to be equally dishonest and loathsome. It's fun to watch one liar call another liar dishonest. "If you have even the slightest amount of common sense how could you think that this debate idea as Craig suggests it be formated is somehow a fair and reasonable suggestion? And as for the reprinting of my email, in a significantly edited format, you now have a flavor of Craig's commitment to accuracy." The whole sappy love letter...

Grasshopper Brain

Jocelyn does it again, with another bit of insight with wry humor. She wonders about the insect-like qualities of Moore Monkey David Fagus: I just read his blog post titled, "Is Don Gordon for real?", and it made me wonder. He starts off by challenging Don to not take any campaign contributions from developers starting now. First of all, it takes a lot of nerve for someone who is rolling in the mud to tell the other guy that he has a spot of ketchup on his shirt. Read Jocelyn's entire posting...
