Cook County Health Care Stupidity
These are the fools who want to run YOUR health care.
The story in the Chicago Tribune takes a good look at just how screwed up government - on any level - can get, and it doesn't get much more screwed up than it has here in Cook County. The story shows how irresponsible and delusional politicians are when it comes to finances. Much of the story centers around the incredibly stupid way in which Cook County's health services have run, how unrealistic the Cook County government is about it, and that they want to raise your taxes to make up for their stupidity. Consider this as you read about Cook County: People like this want to take over your health care. They've done a lousy job with Cook County. Imagine this on a national scale.
County Commissioner Forrest Claypool (D-Chicago), who unsuccessfully ran for board president last year and is widely viewed as a potential candidate again in 2010, said the extra Medicaid funds let the county continue to operate without becoming more efficient and businesslike. Claypool said the funding "masked for many years the underlying dysfunction of the health-care system and the huge waste and bloat and patronage at the top of the system.
