FBI Still Blames North Korea for Sony Hack (Updated)

December 19, 2014 - The FBI blamed North Korea today for the unprecedented computer hacking attack of Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) in late November. It is widely believed that the cyber attack was North Korea's retaliation for Sony's film "The Interview." The film depicts a fictional CIA-sponsored assassination of N. Korea's young dictator Kim Jong-unUPDATED, 30 December: New Evidence.....

The Interview was released to theaters on Christmas Day, despite earlier threats of terrorism that caused Sony to pull the film's release.

The attack on Sony was devastating. In it's statement, the FBI said that "the destructive nature of this attack, coupled with its coercive nature, sets it apart." The statement said that the FBI is confident that the North Korean government "is responsible for these actions."

Experts Doubt North Korea's Role:
Was North Korea really behind the attack on Sony Picture's computers? Or was is one or more former Sony employees, possibly working as a paid contractor for North Korea?

On Dec. 29, Hollywood Reporter: "Security firm Norse claims it has evidence that shows the Sony hack was perpetrated by six individuals, including two based in the U.S., one in Canada, one in Singapore and one in Thailand. Norse senior vp Kurt Stammberger told the Ledger, a security industry news website, that among the six was one former Sony Pictures employee, a 10-year veteran of the company with a very technical background who was laid off in May following restructuring. Norse used human resources documents that were leaked as part of the hack to first identify and then track the former Sony employee's online activity at least since May, when the person left the company."

Dec. 27, CNN: "It's clear to us, based on both forensic and other evidence we've collected, that unequivocally they are not responsible for orchestrating or initiating the attack on Sony," said Sam Glines, who runs the cybersecurity company Norse.

Dec. 29, Dark Matters: "Norse Investigation Focusing on a Small Group, Including Sony Ex-Employees"

Dec. 30, Daily Beast: "Stammberger said that Norse’s analysis is now pointing toward an attack against Sony by disgruntled employees that was conducted in stages and over the course of several months, beginning as early as July, and that North Korea opportunistically praised the attack only after it was discovered."

From the FBI's December 19 press release:

Today, the FBI would like to provide an update on the status of our investigation into the cyber attack targeting Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE). In late November, SPE confirmed that it was the victim of a cyber attack that destroyed systems and stole large quantities of personal and commercial data. A group calling itself the “Guardians of Peace” claimed responsibility for the attack and subsequently issued threats against SPE, its employees, and theaters that distribute its movies.

....The attacks also rendered thousands of SPE’s computers inoperable, forced SPE to take its entire computer network offline, and significantly disrupted the company’s business operations.
....Sony’s quick reporting facilitated the investigators’ ability to do their jobs, and ultimately to identify the source of these attacks.
....the FBI now has enough information to conclude that the North Korean government is responsible for these actions. While the need to protect sensitive sources and methods precludes us from sharing all of this information, our conclusion is based, in part, on the following:

- Technical analysis of the data deletion malware used in this attack revealed links to other malware that the FBI knows North Korean actors previously developed. For example, there were similarities in specific lines of code, encryption algorithms, data deletion methods, and compromised networks.

- The FBI also observed significant overlap between the infrastructure used in this attack and other malicious cyber activity the U.S. government has previously linked directly to North Korea. For example, the FBI discovered that several Internet protocol (IP) addresses associated with known North Korean infrastructure communicated with IP addresses that were hardcoded into the data deletion malware used in this attack.
- Separately, the tools used in the SPE attack have similarities to a cyber attack in March of last year against South Korean banks and media outlets, which was carried out by North Korea.

....the destructive nature of this attack, coupled with its coercive nature, sets it apart. North Korea’s actions were intended to inflict significant harm on a U.S. business and suppress the right of American citizens to express themselves. Such acts of intimidation fall outside the bounds of acceptable state behavior.... (read the full press release here.)

A Feature-Length "Innocence of Muslims?" Get the Popcorn!

Nakoula Basseley Nakoula
Cecil B. Nakoula
June 10, 2013 - An exclusive Fox News story this afternoon says that jailed filmmaker Nakoula Basseley Nakoula says he will finish his controversial "Innocence of Muslims." Nakoula is also known as "Sam Bacile."

The video mocks the propeht Mohammed. It is badly produced, with horrible acting, horrible sound, horrible -- well, it's just thoroughly horrible. It's so bad, in fact, that it's good.

You might say it's the "Planet Nine From Outer Space" of movies about historical figures. Imagine the two together as a double feature. Plan Nine features some mindless, zombie-like characters who do bad things.

Plan Nine From Outer Space
Although Innocence of Muslims did upset a lot of Mohammed's faithful, it was virtually unknown before Comrade Leader Obama, Hillary Clinton and Susan Rice gave it worldwide publicity by falsely blaming the video for inciting the violent attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012, in which Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans died. They did so to deflect criticism of their own incompetence in the handling of what has become known as Benghazigate.

Don't take my word for it. White House spokesliar Jay Carney told reporters, "These protests were in reaction to a video." (Even the Egyptian government said the attack was an organized terrorist operation, and that the video was a total non-factor.)

Like the zombies in Plan Nine From Outer Space, the false attribution of the Benghazi attack to Innocence of the Muslims just keep walking around, arms outstretched, eyes blank. There are innumerable undead news reports lurking on the internet, and Obama's zombie-like followers still repeat the lie about the video. There is a remake of Plan Nine From Outer Space coming soon, by the way. Let's hope it doesn't spark attacks on any of our intergalactic outposts.

"Nakoula, who was thrust into the international spotlight — and then federal prison — after the White House wrongly blamed the 14-minute, amateurish trailer for the attack, says he has more than two hours of footage to complete the film, for which he hopes to find a distributor upon his release on Sept. 26," report Fox News.

"When asked if he believed his film was used as a scapegoat, or if he was unfairly prosecuted — charged with probation violations related to his film — Nakoula became tight-lipped," says Fox. Nakoula interviewed by Fox News in a series of phone calls "from a location he did not want disclosed."

"Nakoula Basseley Nakoula deserves a place in American history. He is the first person in this country jailed for violating Islamic anti-blasphemy laws," wrote Rich Miller for Politico on May 9. "You won’t find that anywhere in the charges against him, of course. As a practical matter, though, everyone knows that Nakoula wouldn’t be in jail today if he hadn’t produced a video crudely lampooning the prophet Muhammad."

Demand A Plan? Demand Celebrities Go F--- Themselves (Extended Cut)

Actors who glorify guns and butchery demand a vague "plan" to stop the same violence and killing that they glamorize in film and television...

Hypocrisy in Action: Celebs 'Demand a Plan'
Jan. 1, 2013 - Hollywood is a culture of violence. Big stars make big bucks portraying psychotic killers, shooting people in orgies of bloody gore.

These actors glorify guns and killing, but they want you to "demand a plan" to stop real-life killings.

Look, we're all for stopping the violence. The real issue here is the hypocrisy and stupidity of the celebrities who appeared in a video called "Demand a Plan to Gun Violence." (Watch it below.)

In response to that video, a video titled "Demand a Plan? Demand Celebrities Go F*** Themselves" points out the double standard and hypocrisy of those celebrities. The response video was posted by "Mike Hunt" (hey, maybe that's his real name) on YouTube on Dec. 25, 2012.

The celebrities' plea to "demand a plan" is vague at best; they suggest no plan themselves. The video was put out by a group called "Mayors Against Illegal Guns" (MAIG) as a response to the Dec. 14, 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. 28 people died in that horrific attack, including gunman Adam Lanza. At the MAIG website, there is a proposal for action, but no part of their "plan" would prevent another Adam Lanza from stealing his mother's guns and going on a killing spree. SEE THE VIDEOS BELOW.

RIP, Gerry Anderson, Creator of Thunderbirds, UFO and Space 1999

Dec. 26, 2012 - Gerry Anderson, creator of 1960s sci-fi hit TV show "Thunderbirds" died at the age of 83 today. Thunderbirds became a cult classic, as did his other creations "UFO" and "Space: 1999." The death of Anderson, a British citizen, was announced by his son Jamie in a blog post today:

"I’m very sad to announce the death of my father, Thunderbirds creator, Gerry Anderson. He died peacefully in his sleep at midday today (26th December 2012), having suffered with mixed dementia for the past few years. He was 83. Please make donations in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Society via justgiving.com/RememberingGerryAnderson"

Anderson was a driving force behind many other sci-fi television shows, too. "Supercar," "Fireball XL5," "Stingray," and "The Protectors" are just a few. See his full filmology at IMDb and read more about Gerry Anderson at UFO Pundit....

RIP, Charles Durning. War Hero, Actor Dead at 89

Charles Durning, 1923-2012
Dec. 25, 2012 - Actor Charles Durning, star of stage and screen, died yesterday in his New York City home at the age of 89. The Hollywood Reporter says that his agent "told The Associated Press that he died Dec. 24 of natural causes."

Durning was one of the greats of Hollywood, equally commanding in both comedic or dramatic roles. Durning's 50-year acting career included roles in film, television and Broadway. He played supporting roles in memorable movies such as "Tootsie," "Dog Day Afternoon," "The Hudsucker Proxy," "Home for the Holidays," "Dick Tracy" and more.

"Durning also was an accomplished stage actor and once said he preferred doing plays because of the immediacy they offered," reports Reuters. "He gained his first substantial acting experience through the New York Shakespeare Festival starting in the early 1960s and won a Tony Award for playing Big Daddy in a 1990 Broadway revival of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof."

Military Hero: Acting was not the most impressive aspect of Charles Durning. He was also a highly-decorated soldier in World War II. In real life, Durning's is a story of incredible heroism. For his service during World War II, notes Military Money Matters, "Charles Durning was awarded the Silver Star Medal and three Purple Hearts."

Durning's death came on the same day as that of another great actor, Jack Klugman, who died of natural causes in his home in Northridge, CA.

RIP: Actor Jack Klugman Dead at 90 (Updated)

Dec. 24, 2012 - Legendary film and television actor Jack Klugman died today in his Northridge, CA home at the age of 90 of unknown - but apparently natural - causes.

"Adam Klugman said he was spending Christmas with his brother, David," reports ABC News, "and their families. Their father had been convalescing for some time but had apparently died suddenly and they were not sure of the exact cause."

Klugman is best known for his role as Oscar Madison in the sitcom The Odd Couple, playing opposite Tony Randall, and as a medical examiner in the drama Quincy, M.E.

Legendary Actor Ernest Borgnine, Dead at 95 (Despite His Secret to Life)

Rest In Peace, Mr. Borgnine
July 8, 2012 - Legendary actor Ernest Borgnine died in Los Angeles today. He passed away while surrounded by family members at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Borgnine attributed his long life to his frequent masturbation. Perhaps he should have pleasured himself more often. Or, perhaps, he overdid it. We hope the L.A. County Medical Examiner will be able to determine that soon.

Borgnine was the voice of Mermaid Man in the Nickelodeon cartoon “SpongeBob SquarePants” and he made a cameo in the 2010 action film “Red.”  In 2008, Borgnine was on the Fox & Friends morning show to promote his book. Asked what his secret to a long life was, he  whispered, "I masturbate a lot." Fortunately for historians, that was picked up by the microphone.

Of course, Borgnine should be remembered for much more than his hobby of waxing the tadpole. He was an accomplished actor, after all.

McHale's Navy was a huge TV hit that starred Borgnine as a kind-hearted skipper of a PT boat. He protected his goofy crew of sailors from the stricter, higher ranking officers.

I'm not sure why Vivek Shankar called his character "buffoonish" in a column today at Bloomberg Businesweek. Perhaps Shankar never really watched the show, or misinterpreted a few short clips. In any case, Borgnine's PT boat skipper was cunning, clever and anything but buffoonish. See for yourself in the video below.

There are so many great Borgnine moments that it would require a full hour to begin to do justice to his career. No doubt that will happen soon, and it would be worth you time to watch it.

In the meantime, check out the last video below: Borgnine received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Screen Actors Guild in January, 2011. Few actors have ever deserved it as much as Borgnine did, and few ever will.

"How fitting it was," wrote Access Hollywood, "that the actor who personified humility in his Oscar-winning performance in 1955’s 'Marty' would take the opportunity of the lifetime achievement award to remind his colleagues of that quality."

Where To See Atlas Shrugged - Show Times and Theaters

The long-awaited film adaptation of Ayn Rand's classic 1957 political novel 'Atlas Shrugged' opens nationwide on Friday, April 15 (trailer below). The film's actual title is "Atlas Shrugged: Part I," which gives us hope that there will be a Part II. Here is a nationwide listing of where you see Atlas Shrugged the movie. (For those of you in my state of Illinois, here's a shortcut just for you.) Atlas Shrugged, the book, is either adored by those who have read it or tends to frighten many who have not. Why are some put off by the book? In part this is because of Rand's own fierce history and her objectivist philosophy. Many see Atlas Shrugged as nothing more than a political rant. This is inaccurate. Although it's true that Rand weaves her politics into most of the book, it is often done so deftly and gets preachy in only a few (extended) spots. Atlas Shrugged, though, is much more: It's a compelling love story, an edge-of-your-seat tale of power struggles, and a satisfying dissection of politics and politicians that feels as relevant today as it did in 1957 (possibly even moreso). Paul Mitchell Wants You to Watch 'Atlas Shrugged'

Ayn Rand's influential novel "Atlas Shrugged" is finally a major motion picture. It will open, appropriately, on April 15. That's three days before Tax Day (it's April 18 this year) for most of us, and our annual reminder of government's steel grip on our lives. (Watch trailers here.) I've been amazed that the film has not gotten more attention and mention than it has. I understand that the producers have no budget for promotion, but what's puzzling is the virtual silence from conservative talk show hosts and tea party groups nationwide. Tea Party groups across the country will hold rallies on Friday, April 15. Perhaps, after the rallies, they could also go en masse to the nearest theater that is showing Atlas Shrugged. One Chicago-area politician, Paul Mitchell, is smart enough to get a group together to watch the movie. He's the Vice President of Lake County Right to Life, a board member of the Lake County Tea Party, and a recent candidate for the Illinois State Legislature. He's inviting everyone to join him in watching Atlas Shrugged next Friday, April 15. In his own words: Next week, on Friday, April 15th, at the Marcus Cinema at Gurnee Mills Mall in Gurnee, Atlas Shrugged, Part One will open. Let's go see it together. I recently finished reading the novel by Ayn Rand that this movie is based upon, and I think this will be an important film. We should help it be a success. If you, like me, feel that the world is going crazy, I want you to know that someone predicted over 50 years ago much of what we're seeing today. It is not too late to fight the trends, and I believe that this story will help us put the current problems that our state and our nation are facing into context. It will also help us understand who our opponents really are, and what they driving us towards. Spike Lee Says USA Most Violent Nation In History (Video)

Film maker and ignorant moron Spike Lee says that the United States is the most violent nation in the history of the world. I know that you are smart enough to know that this is utter bullcrap. Not only is history littered with examples of nations that were far more violent to other nations as well as genocidal toward large portions of their own populations, the same can be found today. Can somebody please send Spike Lee a one-way ticket to Venezuela? Please? Better yet, if anyone has a time machine, please send him back to Germany, circa 1940.
