Cat Fight on the Left

"Cat Fight on the Left" is a nice summary by Bruno Behrend of why the teacher's unions are one of the biggest obstacles to educating children. "With all the troubles on the right," writes Behrend, "it’s nice to see liberals who want the poor to achieve take notice of the worst lobby in the world (teacher’s unions) and how they benefit from keeping the poor uneducated while they soak up every dime they can." Illinois Deserves Better

Get this book and read it! Illinois Deserves Better: The Ironclad Case FOR an Illinois Constitutional Covention, by John C. A. Bambenek & Bruno Behrend

An Illinois Constitutional Convention?

Should There Be A Constitutional Convention? (Thanks to Al Salvi and Bruno Behrend for this information) Few Illinois citizens are aware that the most important vote they can cast this coming November is whether or not Illinois will hold a Constitutional Convention. This is a once in a 20-year opportunity for Illinois citizens to amend, or completely rewrite, the ground rules between citizens and their government. HowWill a ConventionWork? If 60% of the people vote “yes” on the question of whether to have a convention, the next session of the legislature will provide for the election of 2 delegates from each Senate District, (118) along with the funding and the location of the Convention. Once convened, any changes approved by delegates are then presented to the voters for ratification. The changes will be ratified if approved by a simple majority. Feudalism in Illinois

Friend Bruno Behrend has a thought-provoking post at his "Extreme Wisdom" blog, in which he reflects on the sad, sorry state of politics in Springfield. Titled "Feudalism and Illinois Political System," it's a fun read. Bruno hosts a talk show on WKRS AM 1220 every weekday from 10:00 to Noon. Obviously, we’ve come a long way since Medieval times, but here in Illinois, we seem to be reverting to Feudalism. Over at Rich Miller’s CapitolFax, there is some commentary on the potential of both Bill Daley and Lisa Madigan running for Governor. How droll. READ THE FULL POST...
