The Whole World is Watching

Today, the world is STILL watching Chicago, AGAIN for the wrong reasons. Forty years ago, the Democrats had their convention in Chicago. While delegates hid in their hotel rooms downtown, hooligans ran wild through the streets and parks of Chicago. Rioting engulfed large portions of the city. That's why the world was watching then. The world is watching Chicago again, ironically because of the current Democrat National Convention. It is ironic for several reasons. In 1968, Chicago's police had their hands full as lunatic nutjobs overturned cars, set fire to cars, pissed on cars, shat on cars... they liked cars back then. Chicago, it seemed, was about to self destruct. The world was watching Chicago, but for all the wrong reasons. Footnote to the 1968 Chicago Democrat Convention: Hubert Humphrey was the nominee. He lost to Nixon. In 2008, Denver's police have their hands full as lunatic nutjobs overturn cars, set fire to cars, piss on cars... you get the idea. There are worries about the safety, as in 1968, of the delegates and the nominees. Denver, it seems, could explode into real violence, but probably won't in any scale near what Chicago suffered in 1968. The irony: Chicagoan Barack Obama is this year's presidential nominee, a Black man who has built a career in large part on the false propagandist claim that a Black man cannot get ahead in this "racist" nation. His presence in Denver this week puts the lie to that. Another irony is that even though the 2008 convention is in Denver, the world is watching Chicago - again - because of bad things happening here. Tony Rezko. Joseph Cari, Jr. William Ayers. Reverend Wright. Father Pfleger. Cardinal George, the patron saint of child molesting priests. UIC-Annenberg. Delmarie Cobb, the Chicago political consultant that Illinois Senate President Emil Jones called an Uncle Tom. The mess in the labyrinth of Cook County "government." Inefficient schools. A murder rate that's nearly 20% higher now than a year ago. The highest taxes in the nation. The most corrupt city government in the nation. The dumbest City Council in the nation. City laws that make Chicago more restrictive than any other city in the nation. And so on and on. The world is watching. Again. More irony: The goofballs who were rioting in 1968 Chicago thought they were going to change the world, presumably for the better. Some, notably their "leaders," went on to become the very things they despised and spat on. The result of the 1968 riots, here and across the U.S., was a shake up in the political and social climate. That's the grist for twenty books right there, so let's just summarize by noting a few of the things that the Failed Revolution of the 1960's brought us: Tony Rezko. After all those broken windows and broken bones, broken dreams and broken promises, that's what their "revolution" has given us: More of the same with a dose of cynicism and resignation. Barack Obama was born in 1961, four years before the events in Selma that he falsely claims brought his parents together. He did not know the 1960's first hand; he was only nine in 1970. By the time Obama was 14, disco had replaced the protest music. Today Obama tells us that the United States is more racist than ever, more compassionless than ever, more despised by the world community than ever. Obama was only 14 when the United States pulled out of Saigon, Vietnam in 1975. The world's opinion of us was pretty low then, after it realized that the sudden withdrawal allowed the slaughtering of more than a million South Vietnamese by there "brothers" from the communist North. We were seen as irresponsible, uncaring losers. Obama wanted to repeat that script in the theater of Iraq. He may yet get the chance to produce that script. That, and so much more.

Barack Obama: Tired Wimpy Snob

This guy Barack Obama, who accomplished nothing as an Illinois State Senator and nearly as much as a U.S. Senator, keeps demonstrating that he's uninformed and - there's no kind way to say this - sort of a wimpy snob. Let's review a few items, not necessarily in chronological order.

April, 2008: Barack Obama says small town, rural and small-town Americans are "bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."

As Michael Goodwin put it, "In one sentence, Snob-ama de-legitimized every choice people in America are free to make.... Turn his screed around and it comes out this way: If the hicks had good jobs, they wouldn't need God or guns. Then the borders could be wide open for the enlightened world to come here 'cause our hate would vanish."

March, 2008: Wimp boy Obama bowls a 37 game. Oh man, that's so pitiful.

May 19, 2008: Obama tells the world that his wife Michelle is not to be criticized. In February, Mizz Obama said that "for the first time in my adult lifetime I'm really proud of this country." She's been catching criticism for that ever since, and undoubtedly will continue to be criticized.

Obama appeared on ABC's Good Morning America this morning and said, "The GOP -- should I be the nominee -- I think can say whatever they want to say about me, my track record." (What track record?!?) He said, "For them to try to distort or to play snippets of her remarks in ways that are unflattering to her I think is just low class."

Several things come to mind:

1) Obama complained for weeks that racists, anti-American remarks made by his "spiritual mentor," Rev. Jeremiah Wright, were taken out of context. We all learned later that they were not, and finally even Obama had to admit it and denounce Wright.

2) Wife Michelle is actively campaigning for Barack, she's an adult, and therefore fair game for criticism. If Barack would prefer that she wear a burka and stay in the kitchen, well, that's an option. But while she's out there engaging, nobody should be surprised when some of the engagement includes criticism.

3) If Obama wants to talk about being "low class," could he explain to us why his circle of friends and confidants includes such high class scum as William Ayers and Tony Rezko?

May 11, 2008: How many states are there in the USA? Any sharp 4th grader knows tere are 50. Obama got it wrong.

"After a befuddled Sen. Barack Obama proclaimed he had visited '57 states' during a recent campaign stop in Oregon," writes Jennifer Harper, "nimble critics took him to task — wondering how could he accuse Sen. John McCain of "losing his bearings" when he himself overshot the nation by seven states."

Obama claims he was tired. I don't care how drunk or tired I get, I simply cannot forget how many states are in the USA.

December 2006: A sensitive Obama whined that his large ears were not to be discussed. He put writer Maureen Dowd "on notice" that he is sensitive about his big ears, that he was teased about them as a little boy, and he's still traumatized by that. (More about this...)

April, 2008: Obama finally admits that his crazy "spiritual mentor" Rev. Jeremiah Wright is disgusting. It took Obama 20 years to realize what a racist, anti-American nutjob this clown is. Quietly, Obama's sycophants erased any reference to Wright - a former consultant to the Obama Campaign - from their web site and literature. (Also see: Obama: Wright Is Wrong, Remarks 'Offend' Me)

May 4, 2007: A tornado badly damaged Greensburg, Kansas. The storm killed 11 people in that small town of 1,400. The total death toll from that storm for the entire state: 12.

Four days later, Barack Obama told an audience of 500 that 10,000 people had died. "In case you missed it," he said, "there was a tragedy in Kansas. Ten thousand people died — an entire town destroyed." Apparently, Obama missed it. He blamed his math error on being tired from campaigning.

So, how tired is he now, a year later, and how tired will he be when he gets a call at 3:00 in the morning from a frantic general at the Penatagon?

I could go on and on, but I'm under deadline pressure for a local newspaper which, contrary to vile rumor, has not yet fired me.

Wright the Monolith

Q: What happens when you insert a huge ego into a preacher who thinks it's still the 1950's? A: You get Jeremiah Wright. Read today's insight on Wright by Eugene Robinson of The Washington Post Writers Group: I’m through with Wright not because he responded — in similar circumstances, I certainly couldn’t have kept silent — but because his response was so egocentric. We get it, Rev. Wright: You’re ready for your close-up....But his basic point — that any attack on him is an attack on the African-American church and its traditions — is just wrong. In making that argument, he buys into the fraudulent idea of a monolithic, monocultural black America — one with his philosophy and theology at its center. FULL COLUMN...

When Hate Speech is Wright

Barack Obama whined that we took his spiritual mentor's words out of context. That's Rev. Wright, the bigoted, anti-American, hate spewing preacherman on Chicago's south side. Wright whined that he was treated unfairly. Out of context? Let's correct that, shall we? FOXNews.com "has compiled video from the full sermon delivered by Wright on April. 13, 2003, from the pulpit of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago." Can you handle the truth? If so, WATCH THE VIDEOS NOW.... Oh, and when you're done with that, enjoy this: Sunday Night Video: Maze, Featuring Frankie Beverly HT to Backyard Conservative!

Wridiculous Wright

Wonkette: Since Barack Obama couldn't answer the important question "Is Jeremiah Wright as patriotic as you are?" with any shred of decency in last week's ABC debate, Wright is now explaining his obvious black hatred of all things white on his own terms. MORE OF THIS NONSENSE... Wright on.

Hitchens: Obama's Bad Circle

Christopher Hitchens is a guy I love to hate, depending upon what he's saying or writing at the moment. He's also a guy I hate to love, and with the same conditions. If Hitchens didn't exist, the conservatives would have to invent him, for he is a Liberal who - to be fair - calls it like he sees it and rarely with a trace of dogmatism. He's a brilliant writer and speaker. Even when you disagree with Hitchens, you feel smarter for having listened to him, or read his writing. Plus, he's just a lot of fun if you've a mind for mind play. This past week, Hitchens wrote a brilliantly hard hitting, unapologetic column that sears Obama and, more specifically, the scum that encircles him and his campaign. Without further adieu, here is an excerpt that gives a fair idea of the tone of Hitchens' column: The thing that this gaggle of cranks and parasites has in common is the extreme deference with which it is treated by the junior senator from Illinois. In April 2004, Barack Obama told a reporter from the Chicago Sun-Times that he had three spiritual mentors or counselors: Jeremiah Wright, James Meeks, and Father Michael Pfleger—for a change of pace, a white Catholic preacher who has a close personal feeling for the man he calls (as does Obama) Minister Farrakhan. This crossover stuff is not as "inclusive" as it might be made to seem: Meeks' main political connections in the white community are with the hysterically anti-homosexual wing of the Christian right. If Obama were to be read a list of the positions that his clerical supporters take on everything from Judaism to sodomy, he would be in the smooth and silky business of "distancing" from now until November. And that is why he hopes that his Philadelphia speech, which dissociated him from everything and nothing, will be enough. He seems, indeed, to have a real gift for remaining adequately uninformed about the real beliefs of his "mentors." Wow. Read the whole damn column at Slate now.

Nutter Disses Obama's Nutty Preacha

Rich, this story is rich. Black guy mayor of Philadelphia who supports Hillary says Obama's pastor is hateful - and his name is Nutter. Thank you, God. "I think there's no room for hate, and I could not sit and tolerate that kind of language, and especially over a very long period of time," said Philadelphia's newly elected mayor, Michael Nutter, in an interview with ABC News' David Muir. Obama Crush

Not the Wright stuff? Maybe, maybe not. Obama's race speech draws poor review from Extreme Wisdom: Bush’s former speech writer crushes Obama I think of myself as an OK writer, with occasional flashes of insight. Some people just knock it out of the park. The Speech that fell Short Barack Obama has run a campaign based on a simple premise: that words of unity and hope matter to America. OBAMA'S RACE SPEECH

Mitt Romney, former contender for the Republican nomination, gave an eloquent speech about his religion. He explained his religion. He told us why it's not scary. He was, sadly, giving the speech in response to knuckle dragging bigots on both the Left and the Right. This morning Barack Obama, a contender for the Democrat nomination, gave a speech to "explain" race relations and, essentially, excuse 20 years of racist ranting by his hateful pastor, Rev. Wright. He was, if you'll pardon the expression, preaching to the choir. But a few in the choir may not have bought his lame excuses and attempts at sweeping Rev. Wright under the rug. Marathon Pundit gives us an excellent opinion/analysis, titled Obama's Wright speech. Meanwhile, Skeptical Brotha writes that the Obama speech turned him off, but for very different reasons. Writes SB: First, let me say that Barack Obama’s “denunciation” of some of Dr. Wright’s justifiable indignation about America’s hypocrisy regarding race, war, and Hillary Clinton, left a bad taste in my mouth, a very bad taste indeed. The Brotha goes on: A sistah named Cassandra from Michigan emailed me saying, “For the first time I don’t care whether or not he wins if he must shed his spirituality and dilute his soul to neutralize the stench and sting of truth that so many White Americans refuse to acknowledge…The hypocrisy and denial of how racism is destroying the integrity of working class and poor American blacks, whites, Latinos, Arabs and Asians is the seam that is dividing and will eventually shred the Democratic Party.” MORE at Smearing Barack: The enduring racist double standard

Obama's Wright Wing Problem

Skeptical Brotha looks at Obama's bizarre case of convenient conscience. Obama’s campaign announced that the minister, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr., had left its spiritual advisory committee after videotapes of his sermons again ignited fierce debate in news accounts and political blogs. FULL POST with video...
