Energized Democrats, Disillusioned Republicans Give Jones Lead Over Moore in Alabama

A Fox News poll indicates that "Democrat Doug Jones holds a 10-point lead over Republican Roy Moore among likely voters in deep red Alabama." The poll suggests that Republican support for Moore has eroded in recent days. The special election is tomorrow, Dec. 12, to fill the congressional seat previously held by U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions

This has been an emotionally charged special election. Moore, accused of sexual misconduct by several women, denies those allegations. Democrats opposed to Moore -- obviously because of party -- could be more motivated to vote in this election than in most because of the addition of those sexual accusations.

But Moore has a long history of being a religious fundamentalist. Combined, those two factors are enough to get even the least motivated Democratic voter to go to the polls.

The Fox News Poll of Alabama voters was conducted Thursday through Sunday "using traditional polling techniques, including a list-based probability sample with both landlines and cellphones." More at Fox News.

Is Illinois the Worst State in America?

May 1, 2014 - The Land of Lincoln is stinkin' in the minds of a lot of Illinois residents these days. Massive budget problems, high taxes, cold winters, over-regulation are among the reasons that half -- HALF -- of Illinois residents wish they could live in some other state.

"These findings are from a 50-state Gallup poll," says Gallup on their website, "conducted June-December 2013, which includes at least 600 representative interviews with residents aged 18 and older in each state. Gallup measured residents' interest in moving out of state by asking, "Regardless of whether you will move, if you had the opportunity, would you like to move to another state, or would you rather remain in your current state?"

Eager to Leave: The Chicago Tribune notes that Gallup "points out that Illinois has ranked at the bottom of recent polls gauging residents satisfaction with state taxes, state government and 'overall perceptions of how their state compares to others as a place to live'." About 19 percent of the polled Illinoisans "said they plan to move in the next 12 months, a rate that trailed only Nevada," said the Tribune.

The Facebook page "Illinois Sucks- Let's Move Out of State!" presents stories about the sad state of Illinois, along with brutally frank comments by those suffering there. "Enough of Illinois, and Chicago in particular," asks the page's authors. "Why do you continue to live there? The weather stinks, it's ugly, it's flat, the cost of living is high, the taxes are ungodly. The state government is broke, and so are the schools. The politicians and civic leaders are corrupt; the traffic is terrible. Major tax hikes are on the horizon to pay for the coming state pension bill. Not to mention the awful winters. In fact, I can't think of one good reason to live there. Stop complaining about much Illinois sucks- do something about it and vote with your feet!"

Poll For Ron Paul Fans ONLY: Who Won The Gingrich-Cain Debate?

Please - Ron Paul supporters only: Do you see any Teletubbies in here? Do you see a slender plastic tag clipped to my shirt with my name printed on it? Do you see a little Asian child with a blank expression on his face sitting outside on a mechanical helicopter that shakes when you put quarters in it? No? Well, that's what you see at a toy store. And you must think you're in a toy store, because you're here shopping for an infant named Jeb. You think water moves fast? You should see ice. It moves like it has a mind. Like it knows it killed the world once and got a taste for murder. After the avalanche, it took us a week to climb out. Now, I don't know exactly when we turned on each other, but I know that seven of us survived the slide... and only five made it out. Now we took an oath, that I'm breaking now. We said we'd say it was the snow that killed the other two, but it wasn't. Nature is lethal but it doesn't hold a candle to man.

Hey Greta, Tea Parties Not a "One Time Deal"

Yesterday, while more than 600 April 15 Tax Day Tea Parties were going strong across the nation, Fox News' Greta Van Susteren repeatedly asked guests, her viewing audience and herself the same question, over and over and over: "The tea parties, is this a one-time deal?" Whah? My jaw dropped the first time I heard her ask this. I love Greta (she's a fellow Cheesehead expat, after all), but I was amazed that she seemed unaware of the hundreds of tea parties that took place in February. She made no reference to them. So, for Greta and all the other doubters out there, the answer is "No!" Already there are plans for many more Tea Parties. There is one already being heavily promoted, for example, in Washington, DC on September 12. According to organizers, "We have secured permits for the West Front of the United States Capitol and are currently working on the remaining logistics." No, Greta, this was not a "one-time deal." Greta's online poll, with that repeated-ad-nauseum question, shows 97% of respondents think this is the "start of a movement" and not a "one-time deal." As of 12:20 p.m. CST on April 16, 2,682 have responded. You can cast your vote at Greta's "On the Record" page at Fox News. So there.
