Locals Living Near Area 51 Brace For Possible Invasion

It started as a joke on Facebook. But suddenly it exploded with over 1.5 million people "signing up" to "storm Area 51" in Nevada "to see them aliens."

The Facebook event, called "Storm Area 51, They Can’t Stop All of Us," says this: "We will all meet up at the Area 51 Alien Center tourist attraction and coordinate our entry. If we naruto run, we can move faster than their bullets. Let’s see them aliens."

The "naruto run," explains The Guardian newspaper, "refers to the particular, oft-memed, ostrich-like sprint of a popular Japanese anime character."

CBS8's I-Team filed this excellent video report about how local residents are preparing for up to a million people invading their neighborhood in the shadow of the secret facility. Not everyone is thrilled. Some who live near Groom Lake are apprehensive.

The US military is also apprehensive, points out The Guardian:
The US Air Force, however, is not amused, with a spokeswoman telling the New York Times “any attempt to illegally access military installations or military training areas is dangerous”. “No trespassing” signs in the area reportedly state that the use of “deadly force” against intruders is authorized.
Even world-famous Area 51 whistle blower Bob Lazar is urging people to stay away and not to invade the top secret facility. He says there are no aliens and no alien technology at Area 51, as reported by AVClub.com.

HERO: Teacher Michael Landsberry
died while protecting students
October 21, 2013 - A teen aged gunman shot and killed a math teacher, wounded two 12-year old male students at Sparks Middle School in Nevada around 7:15 this morning. The "gunman," a 12-year old 7th grader at the school, then fatally shot himself with his 9-millimeter Ruger seminautomatic handgun.

Update: The teacher killed in the attack was Michael Landsberry, 45, a former US Marine and member of the Nevada Air National Guard. He is survived by his wife and two step-daughters. More...

Update, Oct. 25: The 12-year old shooter has been identified as Jose Reyes. Tthe city of Sparks released the 12-year-old boy’s name on Thursday afternoon (Oct. 24). "The Reno Gazette-Journal had requested the name Tuesday after Sparks police said in a news conference they would not release it," reports the Reno Gazette-Journal. "The RGJ editorial board called on Sparks to release the name, arguing that Sparks police needed to follow the state’s public records laws."

The two wounded students were taken to Renown Regional Medical Center in critical condition. One is out of surgery and the other is doing well, reports Associated Press.

A witness to the Sparks Middle School shooting, 13-year old Kyle Nucum, describes the shooting in this video:

“We heard a pop, like a loud pop, and everybody was screaming and the teacher came to investigate,” Nucum told RGJ Media this morning. “I thought it was a firecracker at first, but the student was pointing a gun at the teacher after the teacher told him to put it down, and the student fired a shot at the teacher and the teacher fell and everybody ran away. And we ran across the field to get somewhere safe and while we were running we heard about four or five more shots and we just got somewhere safe. This lady let us into her house.”

Another student who saw the shooting said, “I heard him saying, ‘Why you people making fun of me, why you laughing at me.’” More at RGJ.com...

Classes at Spark Middle School have been cancelled for the rest of the week. Sparks is located just east of Reno (see map).

"Let Candidates Endorse The Tea Party Movement"

A wise and measured statement from Tea Party Nation about the U.S. Senate race in Nevada. This was sent as an email to TPN members on May 21, 2010 (emphasis added): Our friends at Tea Party Express a few weeks ago chose to endorse Sharon Angle in the Republican Senate Primary in Nevada. This morning, I read where they are now citing a poll, claiming that Danny Tarkanian, another great conservative candidate is in third place and calling for him to leave the race. At Tea Party Nation, we have taken the position that where there are multiple conservative candidates, we should not make an endorsement. We should have the candidates endorse the Tea Party Movement. At Tea Party Nation, we do not consider asking a conservative candidate to quit a race to be an appropriate thing to do. Especially when this comes from a national group. Nevada has many good Tea Party groups and any call for a candidate to withdraw should come from those groups who are familiar with local politics, not a national group. The citizens of Nevada are fortunate to have a number of good choices to replace Harry Reid. These include Danny Tarkanian, Sharon Angle, Chad Christiansen, and Bill Parsons. This statement should not be read as a civil war in the Tea Party Movement. The folks over at Tea Party Express are our friends. They were kind enough to invite Tea Party Nation to join them at the huge event in Searchlight, NV and we believe their hearts are in the right place, just not their strategy. Our theme at Tea Party Nation, as we go into the convention, is unity. This movement must be united to win this fall. We do not think having a national Tea Party group come in and pick someone as “the tea party candidate” is the right way to go about this. Let the people decide for themselves who is the best “tea party candidate” and once that decision is made, then we can all rally behind them in unity. Visit Tea Party Nation's website.

Fake Nevada Tea Party Funded by Liberals

March 11, 2010 - This is not the first time, nor the last time, that this will happen. The liberals, Leftists and some parts of the Rahm Emanuel-David Plouffe Dirty Tricks Bureau of the Democrat Party are funding fake "tea parties" around the country. The reason is obvious: To infiltrate, obfuscate, confuse and divert the enemy. The enemy, of course, being you and me - conservatives who support the Tea Party movements across the U.S. One such case is the Tea Party Nation (TPN), an authentic tea party group, and a fake tea party group called "Tea Party Nevada." Tea Party Nation sponsored the recent National Tea Party Convention, at which Sarah Palin spoke. Tea Party Nation sent this message to members, of which I am one, today: A message to all members of Tea Party Nation It has recently come to our attention that an email is circulating referring to the newly established liberal-funded Tea Party of Nevada as TPN. This email repeatedly disparages the Tea Party group using the acronym TPN. TPN - Tea Party Nation is Trademarked. If you receive this email or have forwarded this email, please make any and all attempts to correct this misinformation. TPN (Tea Party Nation) is against the formation of a third party political party. Thank you for your help in this matter. Sherry Phillips Vice President Tea Party Nation Visit Tea Party Nation at http://www.teapartynation.com/ Yesterday, 20 tea party groups in Nevada joined forces to denounce Tea Party Nevada. Read their press release here. This needs to be brought to light quickly. Tea party groups are asking bloggers to spread the word.
