Come the Revolution

Naval Aviator, Commander Jerry Wilson wrote a powerful - and ominous - letter. He warns us of what may come sooner than most people think, and he is not afraid to say the unthinkable. How likely is a revolution in the United States? I mean an actual, in-the-streets, house to house, block to block revolution? Wilson wrote, in part: "Mark my words friends. All across America groups are forming. They are forming out of anger and out of desperation at the thought of losing America. They're not militia groups, terrorists as the Department of Homeland security would have you believe; they are Americans, loyal to the Constitution. They are mothers and fathers and grandparents. They belong to groups like the Minutemen Civil Defense Corps, the Peaceful Resistance, the Constitution Party, the Young Conservatives, the 9/12 Project, and Grassfire. Right now they are fragmented, each focused on their own cause." I fear that Wilson is correct in, essentially, predicting a civil war or revolution. Call it what you will. While I don't want to see it happen, and I don't believe it is inevitable, the likelihood grows stronger by the week. "As for you, why, you'll be shocked because you didn't see it coming," Wilson writes, "And eventually you'll be saddened when you see that we have truly lost the way of life with which you grew up. You'll be saddened that your children and grandchildren live in a socialist, government- controlled gulag where their every movement from cradle to grave is tracked by the government." When you see well-dressed, blue-haired old ladies holding protest signs and marching in the streets, as we have now at many tea party events, it's a sign that something has shifted dramatically. We're mad as hell, and we're on the verge of not being willing to take it any longer. More excerpts from Wilson's letter: "But sometime in the next two years, our government is going to do something really stupid and these groups will come together. Watch for it, wait for it - get ready. It will happen. "There are a growing number of citizens in the US that are ready to fight to shut down the government's grab of personal freedom, its blatant abuse of the constitution, and it's an attempt to replace the American way of life with socialism. You have to listen carefully to hear them, but they are there. I won't start that fight, but when it goes down I will join it." You can read the entire editorial by Jerry Wilson at My Free Press. Every Blogger Should Read This

Chuck DeVore has written, in my opinion, the definitive explanation of why conservative political bloggers blog. He compares (as have I and others in the past) the modern blogger to past heroes of free speech, people such as Ben Franklin, Thomas Paine, and many of our Founding Fathers.

Following are a few excerpts from DeVore's column at BigGovernment.com "These Are the Times That Try Men’s Blogging Souls" (emphasis added):

These are interesting times. Under President Obama and the most liberal Congress since 1965, the United States government is expected to borrow a trillion dollars per year for the next decade while the size and power of our federal government will grow at the expense of our liberties. In this environment, Democrats in Congress are working on a bill to give President Obama emergency control of the Internet (S.773) which would permit the President to seize control of private-sector networks during a so-called cybersecurity emergency. 

Let me interrupt here and acknowledge the liberal bloggers screaming "What about us? We blog for the same reasons!" Well, yes and no. Conservative bloggers are trying to preserve the freedoms given to us by the Constitution and God. Generally speaking, Liberal bloggers write in an attempt to destroy those liberties - whether they realize it or not. Every time a Liberal blogger writes anything in support of, say, a rebirth of the Fairness Doctrine, they are supporting an erosion of our freedoms. To stay with DeVore's theme of the Franklinesque blogger, the Liberal blogger's analog would be a pro-England writer in 1776 who thinks George Washington is Satan's son and the King was right to raise the tax on tea. Into this breach come the bloggers. There are about 120 million blogs today. Many of them are political, most are not. America’s political bloggers trace their heritage, their place in the body politic, to the Colonial era. Most of today’s political bloggers would have been quite comfortable defying the British Stamp Act of 1765, were they around 244 years ago. 

Shame and Hope for America

No, not all of you. The current economic "crisis" is a convenient excuse for the Obama Regime and compliant Democrats - and some Republicans - to grab power and money. Some of you, Americans, are ready to take to the streets. Some of you get it, and you don't like it. Some of you will attend Tea Parties around the country to voice your opposition to unprecented corruption, unapologetic steps toward socialism, and the crushing debt being imposed on your children and their children and their children's children. 5,000 Attend Tea Party Cincinnati

Nationwide "Tea Parties" keep rolling on. Cincinnati had a big on on Saturday, March 14. Tea Parties are protests against the socialist regime of Barack Obama and the massive, piggish spending of your money, your children's money, and your grandchildren's money, bailing out failing companies, the exponential growth of Government, suppression of our constitutional rights, and so much more. Chicago had a Tea Party on February 27. Since then, the movement (and the anger) just keeps building. So far, 150 Tea Parties have either taken place or are scheduled. Oh, did I say anger? Yes I did. We're mad as hell. The Tea Party in Cincinnati, Ohio was impressive. There are reports of over five thousand people attending and it appears those reports are accurate (police reports confirm). The rally was held in Fountain Square and the square and surrounding areas were packed to hear speakers and to vent at what people believe is wrong about the Pelosi, Obama, Reid administration. ALERT: States Telling Obama To Shove It

Eleven of the United States have told Washington to keep their "stimulus" money. They've told Barack Obama to shove it where the sun does not shine. With these incredible developments, one cannot help wonder how many more states will wise up, and which of them will be the first to secede from the Union. This startling report from Human Events on Feb. 23 (emphasis added): State governors -- looking down the gun barrel of long-term spending forced on them by the Obama “stimulus” plan -- are saying they will refuse to take the money. This is a Constitutional confrontation between the federal government and the states unlike any in our time. In the first five weeks of his presidency, Barack Obama has acted so rashly that at least 11 states have decided that his brand of “hope” equates to an intolerable expansion of the federal government’s authority over the states. These states -- "Washington, New Hampshire, Arizona, Montana, Michigan, Missouri, Oklahoma, California...Georgia," South Carolina, and Texas -- "have all introduced bills and resolutions" reminding Obama that the 10th Amendment protects the rights of the states, which are the rights of the people, by limting the power of the federal government. These resolutions call on Obama to “cease and desist” from his reckless government expansion and also indicate that federal laws and regulations implemented in violation of the 10th Amendment can be nullified by the states. When the Constitution was being ratified during the 1780s, the 10th Amendment was understood to be the linchpin that held the entire Bill of Rights together. The amendment states: “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people." Americans! Take This Friday Off!

What is needed is attendance in the tens of thousands. If YOU are aware of this event, attend! Call your friends, email your friends. Tell them to be there. Take the day off if you need to and attend a Tea Party near you! See "List of All Tea Parties Nationwide Feb 27" A lot of Americans will not go to work this Friday. In cities around the country, people who don't normally go to protests will do just that. Already sick of the Marxist "change" brought to Washington, conservatives will be attending "Tea Parties" from coast to coast. (More info and full list of cities and events here.) All will happen at mid-day, noonish, but some folks will take a partial or whole day off for this historic nationwide happening. In case you haven't heard, the Second American Revolution may have started last week when Rick Santelli fired off his "rant heard 'round the world." Speaking on live television from the trading floor of the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT), Santelli bashed Kenyan-born Barack Obama's economic policies (see video below). He said he would stage a "Chicago Tea Party" in July, but it's actually happening this Friday. It promises to be big... ...But is won't be big enough. Most of Friday's "Tea Parties" will see attendance in the hundreds, some in the thousands. What is needed is attendance in the tens of thousands. If YOU are aware of this event, attend! If you know your history, you know that large revolutions have often started with seemingly small speeches or seemingly insignificant acts. Rick Santelli's defiant speech on the floor of the Chicago Board of Trade today (full transcript) may be one of those watershed moments that get huge word of mouth. WATCH IT HERE:
