BLAGO DEMANDED TRIBUNE FIRE EDITOR MCCORMICK
Now-indicted Illinois Governor Blagojevich, a Democrat, is now facing multiple charges of corruption. Blagojevich and his chief of staff John Harris were arrested just after 6:00 a.m. in Chicago today. One of the charges is that he tried to extort the Chicago Tribune to fire a top editor.
...Blagojevich, along with chief of staff John Harris, also tried exerting their influence over the Tribune Company, pressuring executives to fire members of the Chicago Tribune’s editorial board, who were considered too critical of the Governor. Specifically, Blagojevich singled out deputy editorial page editor John P. McCormick. (Politico)
John Harris was arrested this morning, too, at the same time that Blagojevich was taken into custody.
More from Politico: On Nov. 3, according to a complaint which includes intercepted phone calls, Blagojevich spoke to a deputy about how the Tribune will be “driving” the impeachment process against him. During the call, Blagojevich’s wife gets on the phone and tells the deputy to “to hold up that f—king Cubs s—t… f—k them.” Later, she said to “just fire” any critical writers at the Tribune.

Extorting Western Union: Lessons From Jesse Jackson
Illegal immigrants and their supporters will join others on Monday, September 17 in one of the largest attempts at extortion in history. They seem to have learned well from studying master extortionist Jesse Jackson.
The targeted victim is Western Union.
According to a report from the Rocky Mountain News:
Western Union has spent much of 2007 worrying that some of its customers have stopped sending money for fear of deportation.
Now, an immigration-advocacy group is urging the transmitter's customers to stay away for a different reason: The company's prices are so high, the group says, they're exploitative.
The Transnational Institute for Grassroots Research and Action, an Oakland, Calif.-based group, is launching a boycott. The group says Western Union's fees are too high and it doesn't reinvest enough in the communities it serves.
"Reinvest enough in the communities it serves," whine the extortionists. Really? Just how is Western Union legally obligated to "reinvest" anywhere? How about this: You pay your fees for a valuable service, then you get the valuable service as promised. Isn't provided a valuable service in exchange for a reasonable fee a form of reinvesting? Yes, it is, unless you're an extortionist who doesn't give a damn about anything except lifting your wallet.
The Denver Post reports the following:
Western Union spokesman Daniel Diaz declined to specifically address TIGRA's allegations that it overcharges customers, saying only that "our prices are similar to others in the industry."
Diaz declined to say whether the boycott would have an impact on the company.
"We will continue to remain focus(ed) on our business," he said.
He said the company charges $9.99 to send $1,000 the next day to Mexico and $14.99 to get the money within minutes.
People, think about this. $9.99 from $1,000? That's one percent! One percent! A lousy one penny for every dollar that's sent hundreds, perhaps thousands, of miles away to somebody the very next day! That's a rip off?!? Good God, folks, you pay $2.00 at an ATM just to pull out a twenty; that's ten percent! And you haven't stolen somebody else's identity to get the bank account that your ATM draws from. (Have you?)
The Denver Post report continues:
The organization alleges that Western Union reinvests 41 cents for every $100 of profit, compared with $2.30 reinvested by Wal-Mart. TIGRA asks that the company raise that figure to $1 per transaction.
Let's stop again. Western Union, it is "alleged," reinvests 41 cents for every $100 of profit, compared with $2.30 by Wal-Mart. Really? So now Wal-Mart is the gold standard by which corporations' charitable activities should be guaged?
Continuing:
Western Union, however, said it regularly supports causes around the world through its Western Union Foundation. Since 2001, the foundation has granted nearly $40 million to nonprofit organizations worldwide in more than 70 countries and territories to support humanitarian projects, provide disaster relief and fund education, health and human-services programs.
$40 million bucks is nothing to sneeze at, whether it's more or less than Wal-Mart. How much money has Univision donated to good causes around the world? How much money does Modelo beer reinvest in the communities it "serves?" How much money does the average tacqeria reinvest in the neighborhood it serves? Will TIGRA be boycotting them soon?
Western Union needs to stand up to this disgusting attempt to extort from them. It would be nice to see Western Union announce that they will no longer be sending money to Mexico for anybody. Sorry, amigos, no more wiring money to Mexico. Of course, that won't happen.
But Western Union should take a lesson from the way NASCAR dealt with one of Jesse Jackson's many attempts to extort money. NASCAR told Jackson to take a hike. And he did. Victims so often become victims because they allow themselves to become victims. Rather than bend over and grab their ankles, Western Union should tell TIGRA and any other comers to go straight to hell on a fast train.

Rev. Jesse Jackson's Corruption Exposed
Merchants of Death: Jesse and Michael
"We're going to close down the merchants of death to save our children," said Rainbow/Push Coalition's Reviled Jesse Jackson.
"The Jackson/Pfleger marches," reports ABC7, "began at Chuck's symbolically a few weeks ago after the murder of 15-year-old honor student Blair Holt, who was shot to death on a CTA bus in May. Since then, at least a half dozen other city teenagers have died as the result of gunfire."
Shut up, Jackson, you loud mouthed, adulterating, extortionist hypocrital pig. Oh, I forgot antisemitic.
The "merchants of death" that you should be worried about are the gangstas that obtain their firearms illegally. The law-abiding citizens who want the guns for legitimate self defense want them because jerkoffs like you and nutjob Michael Pfleger keep helping ACLU-backed judges and legislators get elected. Those judges and legislators pass the kind of laws and bench decisions that allow rapists and murderers back on the streets after serving little or even zero time behind bars.
How many times do we have to tell you, you moron? Ban guns and only criminals will have guns. Do you really think that getting rid of gun shops in Chicago will prevent gangstas from obtaining them? Are you that stupid? Or do you simply assume that we are that stupid?
As Dinesh D'Souza writes, "But gunshops don't kill people, Jesse, gang members do. If the poor kid had been hanged with a rope, would you be protesting outside Home Depot? If he had been smothered with a pillow, would you be chanting outside Bed, Bath & Beyond?"
