Dumbest Spam Email of the Week
A good con artist is smooth, slick and presents him/herself well to the target. Many scam artists work from outside of the United States via email, but they don't seem to understand a basic reality: If you're trying to convince us that you're trustworthy, don't mangle the English language and don't use names that sound absurd. This spam email, reproduced below, was received today. "Dear ericpinkfloyd" is the first clue that this is (a) from another country, (b) from an idiot, (c) from someone who has no idea how use American/English salutations.

Sure, I'll be in touch if ever I'm interested in your crappy Chinese counterfeit merchandise. This partcular email reminds me of one the running gags in the classic film "Buckaroo Banzai." In that film, invaders from the 8th dimension infiltrated industry and the government by using crazy names such as "John Bigbooty." I like "Eric Pinkfloyd" for it's comical effect, but wonder how "supachai jaichapor" came to think that "Pinkfloyd" is anybody's surname.
Bloggers in Communist China
China still sucks. Here's proof.
To slip past Internet censors squashing reports of a weekend riot in China's Guizhou province, some bloggers have started writing backward.
Some 30,000 rioters set fire to government buildings over the weekend to protest the way authorities handled the death of a teenager in the province's Weng'an County. While state-controlled media provided immediate coverage, government censors moved fast to delete online posts providing unofficial accounts and deactivate the accounts of those users.
China's sophisticated censorship regime -- known as the Great Firewall -- can automatically track objectionable phrases. FULL STORY at Wall Street Journal Online...
HIP HOP GRANNY IN CHINA
Hip hop is dying. It will soon be dead. Once 70-year old grandmothers in China adopt it, it just can't be considered cool anymore. Can it? I wonder if this nice old lady knows that the lyrics are about whores, shooting cops, slapping bitches, and other happy subjects.
China Pouts After Mom Scolds Them
WARNING: Some people might find this posting to be "divisive." It contains truth and fact, which may cause discomfort and stomach upset for some readers.
Poison pet food. Poison farm animal feed. Extremely high lead levels in toys and pottery. Toxic fish, and so much more wonderful stuff from China. The U.S. has called for investigations and bans of Chinese products, especially food items, and other nations have done the same. The Chinese, embarrassed, are trying to turn this around by claiming that U.S. products coming into China are tainted. They're pouting now. The world caught them in the kitchen with unwashed hands, and they are embarrassed, even though China has already admitted that there is a serious problem with food raised or processed there.
It's comparable to a five year old kid who's been caught with his dirty hand in the cookie jar. His mom just scolded him for grabbing a cookie with his grubby fingers. The kid turns it around by accusing his mother of baking crappy cookies.
So the Chinese are now saying that U.S. products going into China "failed to meet the sanitary standards of China." China has sanitary standards? Ha! Excuse me for a moment, I'm going laugh uncontrollably.
Okay, whew. That was good. Those Chinese can be funny when they want to, huh? That quote came from the Chinese "General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine." Talk about an oxymoron. Oh - my - God.
"U.S. inspectors recently have banned or turned away a growing number of Chinese exports, including monkfish containing life-threatening levels of puffer fish toxins, drug-laced frozen eel and juice made with unsafe color additives. The FDA has also stopped all imports of Chinese toothpaste to test for a potentially deadly chemical reportedly found in tubes sold in Australia, the Dominican Republic and Panama," according to an Associated Press story on June 9.
The same story quotes Neil Langerman, an officer of the division of chemical health and safety of the American Chemical Society. He was asked if China’s seizure was a retaliation for the recent U.S. actions against Chinese products.
“There’s more to this story than meets the eye. This is political," said Langerman, an officer of the division of chemical health and safety of the American Chemical Society. “I’d see what China is doing as a retaliation to what the U.S. has done."
The Chinese did not specify which U.S. products were contaminated, or even how or with what. They only said that contaminates have been found unacceptably high levels, without providing details. It seems that some Chinese officials got together in a hurry, decided to say something to save face, and put together some poor crafted lies.
Pitiful. Caught with their grubby, unwashed fingers in the cookie jar, they're sassing back after Mom scolded them.

Where'd That Fish Come From?
WARNING: Some people might find this posting to be "divisive." It contains truth and fact, which may cause discomfort and stomach upset for some readers.
I was in a restaurant the other night, one of the better ones in Rogers Park. They had a fish special on the menu, and I asked my server where the fish was from.
"It's farm raised," came the answer.
"Yes, but what country is that farm in?" I asked.
He didn't know. The cooks in the kitchen didn't know. Yikes. I had the chicken. Even with the antibiotics, I'd rather eat U.S.-raised chicken than fish that might have been raised in China. A lot of fish being served in restaurants these days comes from filthy farms, or are processed in filthy factories, in places like China.
A short article in The Daily Green sums it up:
Five years ago, Congress approved a law that would require country-of-origin labeling for food. But under intense lobbying pressure, the law’s implementation was put off until September 2008. Now, as tainted pet food and toothpaste ingredients, fish and other foods and drugs from China have proved to be tainted, Congress is under pressure to hurry up already. Many have long called for such labels.
Next time you're at a restaurant, ask where the catfish was raised. Which country, that is.
More Chinese Poison
Are the Chinese trying to kill us? The long list of deadly or sickening products from China just doesn't end. Poisonous toothpaste. Poison dog food. Poison cat food. Poison in the farm animal food chain. Exploding cigarette lighters. Bird flu. Now, this:
China exports lead poisoningFrom eye shadow to glazed pottery, products pose danger to U.S. kids
In the wake of scandals involving tainted food and toothpaste from China comes word of a new concern from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission as well as the Food and Drug Administration – toys, makeup, glazed pottery and other products that contain significant amounts of lead....So serious is the resurgence of lead poisoning among U.S. children that the Iowa Department of Public Health is working on writing a new law to require mandatory testing of those entering school for the first time. List of Deadly Chinese Toothpastes
"FDA: Throw away toothpaste made in China." The Chinese made toothpaste is poisoning you. RPB brings you the hard-to-find list of the toothpaste brands:
FDA has identified the following brands of toothpaste from China that contain DEG and are included in the import alert: Cooldent Fluoride; Cooldent Spearmint; Cooldent ICE; Dr. Cool, Everfresh Toothpaste; Superdent Toothpaste; Clean Rite Toothpaste; Oralmax Extreme; Oral Bright Fresh Spearmint Flavor; Bright Max Peppermint Flavor; ShiR Fresh Mint Fluoride Paste; DentaPro; DentaKleen; and DentaKleen Junior. Manufacturers of these products are: Goldcredit International Enterprises Limited; Goldcredit International Trading Company Limited; and Suzhou City Jinmao Daily Chemicals Company Limited. The products typically are sold at low-cost, "bargain" retail outlets. Get more information...
The government warned consumers on Friday to avoid using toothpaste made in China because it may contain a poisonous chemical used in antifreeze… "Our concern today is potentially about all toothpaste that comes in from China," Autor said. "Our estimate is that China makes up about $3.3 million of the $2 billion U.S. toothpaste market." (Yahoo! News) Maybe the Chinese are not intentionally sending us shitty, deadly, substandard crap. Maybe they’re not trying to kill our dogs and cats, or us. It’s possible that they’re just so frikking stupid that they really believe that the deadly chemical diethylene glycol (DEG) belongs in toothpaste. Maybe not, just maybe. Oh look, another headline... Seafood From China May Pose A Threat To Human Health Adding to China's recent problems of food safety is now seafood contamination. As the world's largest producer and exporter of fish and fish products, China may need to more closely monitor shellfish contaminant levels, because contaminants are finding their way into seafood. A new study found samples from markets that contained concentrations of contaminants high enough to pose threats to human health. The study is published in the latest issue of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry. Full Story at Medical News Today... God knows that the U.S. is doing a fine job of poisoning itself, without the benefit of importing even more - and worse - crap to inject into our food chain. Genetically modified food, for example. Mercury in the water. Cilantro in every damn thing. I hate cilantro. We are being irresponsible with our food supply and we need to work on that. Now would be a good time to visit an Organic Food Store. In the meantime, however, it makes no sense to import food items from places like Vietnam and China, where health standards are still primitive. Think about this. The United States is one of the most advanced nations on earth in terms of general health standards. By the time we are in sixth grade, most Americans know that you shouldn't drink the water when you go to the Third World. Mexico, for example, where local hotel staff will warn you to drink only bottled water. Yet, many Americans are regularly buying food from Third World sources, often without knowing they are doing so. Chinese food products, to be blunt, are shit. Often literally, since much of the fish being exported from China marinates in feces-laced water where it is raised on fish farms. Where was that catfish or trout you had yesterday from? Those mushrooms you had on your pizza? Probably grown and packed in China. We are advised to ask our grocers and restaurants which country the fish – or other foods – originates from. Most good restaurants will know, since good chefs are very into this knowledge themselves and are proud to share the good news that their fish is not from a shit-infested agrifarm in China. Unfortunately, the kid working at McDonald’s won’t be able to tell you where the Filet O Fish is really from. Eat it at your own peril.
