Ice Pier Chicago

Ice coats the light house and pier along Pratt Beach in Rogers Park, on Chicago's north side, along the shore of Lake Michigan. See the whole photo album at my Facebook page The ice formed in a storm on Dec. 12-13. When I took these photos on Dec. 15, the temperature was about 19 degrees (F), with not much wind and a warm sun. . The lighthouse is located near W. Pratt and N. Sheridan.

The Family That Googles Together...

... stays together. These folks watch their son play soccer at a park in Chicago's Ravenswood neighborhood. A nice fall scene on a crisp afternoon. Dad works in a Google business office in Chicago. Photos of Chicago's Sept. 12 Tea Party Rally in Millennium Park

UPDATED: Also see the video from this event. About 500 people showed up to protest Big Government and Obamacare on a picture-perfect day in Chicago, on scenic Michgan Avenue. Chicago News Bench was there and took the photos in the slideshow below (or go directly to the online photo album). Video for you on Monday, Sept. 14. ALSO SEE: 9/12 Chicago Tea Party After Action Report at NavyJacks.com Comment from Katja, Sept. 13, 2009: I was at the 9/12 rally yesterday in Millennium park. One of the things that struck me about it was the very small number of signs that had to do with anything local. One of the only things I saw was a sticker on the back of a sign referencing the tax hike Gov. Quinn has his heart set on (http://www.flickr.com/photos/linnapaw/3914338964/). I'd say that there were 300-400 people out there, which is small, but I'm hoping that a lot of people made it out to DC - we managed to export the best of our lovely Chicago politics out there... Photo du Jour - Bittersweet Departures

The trees bade farewell
to the snows of March...
They cried as thirst-quenching snow,
frozen water after all,
said a last goodbye
Hugs were exchanged
Tears were shed
They clung like lovers
being torn apart by
the wind of fate
Reluctant to let go,
unable to resist
"Come with me snow or you
both shall die!" cried the wind

The snow gave
itself up,
the ultimate
sacrifice
Goodbye snow,
you gave
us life
