FLASHBACK: Mundt on Lunt
Gimme Jimmy: Bennington Workin' It
Chicago based drummer/bandleader Jimmy Bennington just did two great nights at Chicago's Velvet Lounge on July 5 and 6 with legendary trombonist Julian Priester.
But Bennington is not resting. His love of "jazz and American free music," as he calls it, keeps him working overtime to keep up the momentum, as he brings legendary clarinetist Perry Robinson to Chicago for three rare performances in September, one on the 29th and two shows at separate venues on the 30th.

RARE JAZZ EVENT IN ROGERS PARK

Soon-to-be-legend JIMMY BENNINGTON, good friend and Rogers Park resident, will work his percussive magic with Priester, who will perform on his trombone. This is special, because it's just the two of them - just as it is on Jimmy's new CD release, Portraits and Silhouettes.
Priester and Bennington performed to a wowed crowd on July 5 and 6 at the famous Velvet Lounge. Unfortunately, an otherwise good review in the Chicago Tribune failed to mention Bennington's long-awaited album with Priester.

Personal note: I did the album graphics for the CD shown here.
