April 13, 2013 - A police sergeant in Port Canaveral, Florida was fired in the wake of being accused of having shooting targets with the likeness of shooting victim Trayvon Martin. Port Canaveral is about 60 minutes away from Sanford, Florida, where Martin was fatally shot by George Zimmerman in February 2012.

Sergeant Ron King was fired on Friday "after he brought Trayvon Martin shooting targets to a firearms training session," reports WFTV-9.

Trayvon Martin
King was supervising a training session at the Brevard Community College campus in Cocoa on April 4. King purchased the targets on the internet, Port officials told WFTV.

King, reports reports WTVM-9, is alleged to have offered two targets with Martin's likeness to two other officers at the training session. King and the two officers were all on duty at the time. The two officers said that they refused to use the targets.

Congressman Allen West Announces Reelection in the Proposed 18th Congressional District

(WEST PALM BEACH)- Congressman Allen West (R-FL) released this statement today announcing his decision to seek reelection for the United States House of Representatives in the proposed 18th Congressional District:

"After much prayer, reflection and discussion with my close friends and family, I am announcing today my decision to seek reelection in Florida's proposed 18th Congressional district. I have always believed the state of Florida would be best served by having both Congressman Tom Rooney and myself in the House of Representatives working to solve our nation's most pressing problems. I have never waivered from my vision; to work to create jobs, restrain federal government spending, reduce America's ever increasing national debt, and provide for a strong national defense to ensure a safer and more prosperous future for our children and grandchildren.

Congressman Rooney is a statesman and has been an honorable public servant to the constituents of Florida's 16th Congressional district. It is my goal to continue the success Congressman Rooney has had in Florida's 16th Congressional district in the newly proposed 18th district. I welcome the challenges and excitement that lie ahead.

As a 22-year United States Army veteran who commanded troops in combat, one should never underestimate my ability to be a strategic thinker. My voice for the restoration of constitutional principles for our Republic shall continue to resonate through Florida and on Capitol Hill."

Video: Mitt Romney Sings "America The Beautiful" (Badly)

January 30, 2012 - The Villages, Florida - On the eve of Florida's Republican presidential primary election, candidate Mitt Romney holds a comfortable lead in the polls. He's ahead of Newt Gingrich by 15 points, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll today.
To celebrate, the former Massachusetts governor once again butchered "America The Beautiful" in public as he tried to sing it before a crowd of senior citizens at Lake Sumter Landing. It was his last campaign stop of the day. Video below.

"The Romney family was in a joyful mood Monday night," reports The Weekly Standard this evening, "as the campaign held its final campaign rally of the Florida GOP primary. During her introductory remarks, Mitt's wife Ann handed the microphone to her 5-year-old grandson Parker and asked him to tell the large crowd what he said on the campaign bus. 'I think papa's going to win!' he said. The crowd loved it."

Barf, right? Did Abe Lincoln or Teddy Roosevelt drag their snot-nosed grandchildren onto any stages when they were campaigning? When the heck did candidate start doing that?

And, why would Mitt's grandson refer to him as "Papa?" Isn't that what one calls one's father? Those northeasterners are weird. It's just creepy. Romney's attempt to sing was almost as pitiful as his attempt to fool the American electorate that he's a conservative.

Tragically, Romney's crooning tonight in The Prune Juice State is not the first time Romney has mangled "America The Beautiful."
It's as though he has some latent desire to seek revenge on the nation that rejected him in 2008 by inflicting us with his off-key warbling of such a beloved song.

In reality, of course, Romney uses the song in a schmaltzy attempt to connect with voters who are just as square as himself. He tends to tailor his performance of the song to his local audience. Often, notes John Swaine of The Telegraph (UK), this causes Romney's audience to groan.

Mark Oxner's Campaign Video Shows Obama as Crazy Ship Captain, Alan Grayson as his Parrot

UPDATED January 27, 2012 - Facebook banned Oxner's ad for this video shortly after we posted this at 12:50 PM CT on Wednesday, January 25. See that full update here: Banned By Facebook: Mark Oxner's "Ship of Fools" Campaign Video!

January 25, 2012 - There are a lot of badly made campaign videos out there, but now and then one comes along that can only be called brilliant. Congressional candidate Mark Oxner (Republican) has released one of those. It was released last night.

It's titled "Turn This Ship Around: Mark Oxner For Congress" (watch below). Oxner, 40, is running in Florida's new 27th Congressional District against uber-liberal, former Congressman Alan Grayson (Democrat).

The video not only slams Grayson, but also Barack Obama. It depicts Obama as the demented captain of ship about to sail over a deadly waterfall. Grayson is accurately portrayed as Obama's faithful parrot.

For those who might thing Oxner's video is unfairly harsh, it would be fitting now to remind you that Grayson compared Daniel Webster, his Republican challenger in 2010, to the Taliban. A Grayson campaign video called Webster a "religious fanatic" and accused him of being "anti-woman." Grayson was heavily criticized by Florida media for going too far in his criticism, and many voters felt the same: Webster beat Grayson in the 2010 race for Florida's old 8th District.

Grayson is known for his outrageous and often deliberately false statements. In 2009 Grayson said that Republicans "want you to die quickly" (see video, left).

Blame Florida

The man that most conservatives do not trust, and most liberals consider to be too conservative just won in Florida. The consolation: It was Florida, land of the dumbest voters in the United States of America. McCain Beats Romney in Florida GOP Race The Associated Press - The victory was worth 57 national convention delegates for McCain, a winner-take-all haul that catapulted him ahead of Romney for the overall delegate lead.
