A Fascinating Lady

Another fantastic interview, this time with Christine Wellman.

What a fascinating lady.

Christine met me at Armadillo's Pillow book store, where we sat amongst beautiful shelves filled with books and walls adorned with artwork.

The conversation went from local Rogers Park topics to national energy policy, from Loyola Beach to the Persian Gulf. A great conversation, captured on high-definition video. Watch for a snippet of this - and more interviews - in the near future.

The Rogers Park Oral History Video Project is moving right along and YOU can be a part of it. For information on how you can become a part of this project, check out the Free Rogers Park web site.

Armadillo's Pillow is at 6753 N. Sheridan Road in Rogers Park, Chicago (across from Village North Theater, half a block south of Pratt).

Rogers Park Video Project Picking Up

The Rogers Park Video Oral History Project is gaining momentum. More and more people are signing up to be interviewed for posterity. Some have expressed political opinions, others have not. For example, Matthew of Pilates Chicago just gave a great interview yesterday. What an interesting guy! Native of Kenosha, Wisconsin, Matthew came to Chicago to attend college. His wife Jennifer got turned him onto pilates and, well, the rest is history. Literally history now, since his interview is part of the project. Another great interview was on June 3 with busy jazz drummer Jimmy Bennington. Wow. Some great drumming by Jimmy accents this interview, and Jimmy's story of moving - and performing - around the country is fascinating. The project is being recorded in high definition video. People who live or work in Rogers Park are invited to participate, and can sign up simply by dropping a note to freerogerspark@yahoo.com. More to come. Excerpted clips from the interviews will be posted in the near future at Free Rogers Park Video Project.
