According to a story on The Smoking Gun, a man who claims "that he has been unfairly branded a 'douchebag' in the book 'Hot Chicks with Douchebags,' a Las Vegas man has filed a libel lawsuit against the volume's author and publisher. Michael Minelli, a 27-year-old club promoter, claims that the inclusion of his photograph in the book has subjected him to 'hatred, contempt, and humiliation' and has resulted in 'friends, acquaintances, coworkers, employees, and strangers alike' calling him a 'douchebag.'" (Source) So, does that mean that Chicago bloggers and residents of the 49th Ward have to stop calling Alderman Joe Moore a douche bag? Probably not. For one thing, Moore is an elected official, which makes him fair game. There are more reasons why we can safely continue to call him a douche bag: He actually is a douche bag; he doesn't hang with "hot chicks" anymore (or beg for oral sex in parking lots); he regularly subjects himself to hatred, contempt and humiliation; and most of his friends, acquaintances, coworkers, employees, and strangers alike have been calling him a douchebag since well before the word "blog" came to be.
