North Siders drawing lines in the sand over public lakefront plan Medill Reports, IL - August 2, 2007 - Alderman Joe Moore (49th) said he'll wait to see a final proposal before weighing in on the plan to open the last lakefront miles in his ward.

    If you go on one of the many "architectural tours" downtown, Im sure you'll hear that Daley introduced some ordnance that said that all waterways had to have some public access.

    I honestly dont think that extending the beach and putting in a public walkway will bring in "garbage" and "trouble". Honestly, have you seen the lakefront at the weekend?

    It's full of cyclists, runners and skaters. Not a gangbanger to be seen. My god, you could get *beaten* for eating your McDonalds down there.

    Open it up I say.
