The apartment building at 6801-07 N. Ridge (at Pratt) is one butt-ugly building. The large courtyard looks like it's never seen a sprinkler, the walkways seem to be dirt, or badly decayed pavement. Some circular structure in the middle of the courtyard might once have been a fountain built by Fred Flintstone. It is now filled with weeds. This corner reminds me of the all-too-typical crappy apartment complexes I saw daily in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles. Cheap, tawdry, not cared for. It's a shame, really, because with a little bit of work this property could actually look nice.
The big courtyard could be a real treasure for the residents, and good selling point for the clueless owner. Aren't there municipal codes that deal with badly neglected yards like this one? On an otherwise attractive corner, this eyesore is not a good welcome to East Rogers Park.
