Kwame Kilpatrick Released, Monica Conyers Goes to Prison

Remember corrupt Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick? He went to jail for his misdeeds but was released today. Meanwhile, former Detroit City Council President Monica Conyers got hit with a 37 month prison sentence for her role in a city hall bribery scandal. Monica Conyers pleaded guilty in late June, 2009 to conspiracy to commit bribery. She later announced her resignation. Conyers admitted to accepting money in a McDonald's parking lot in exchange for favorable treatment for Syangro Technologies in a sludge deal before the council. (mlive.com) Yes, they're both Democrats. Yes, Monica is the wife of Democrat Congressman, Rep. John Conyers. Repeat after me: Culture - of - corruption. Very good. Again. Culture - of - corruption. Democrats loved that phrase a few years ago. Have you noticed they haven't been using it much since Nancy Pelosi took over the U.S. House of Representatives? Why? Because so many of her fellow Dems have proven that they pretty much own that culture. Monica Conyers is just another in a long string of Democrooks. The longtime Detroit congressman has not been implicated in his wife's crimes, but I find it odd that the national media has not picked up on this story. Speaking of family affairs, there's a report today that Andrea Bragg, "a high-ranking aide" to Kwame's mommy U.S. Rep. Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick, says she was called to appear before a federal grand jury in Detroit. What's in the water up in Detroit? A parting thought: A crooked Republican would have enough class to accept bribery money in the private bar of a country club, rather than in a McDonald's parking lot.
