Readers Criticize Man For "Wasting Police Time"

This lonely man stands in the way of Chinese Army tanks. The tanks were part of a police action to put down a large protest in Tianenmen Square in Beijing on June 4, 1989.

Little Betty criticized the protestor. She wrote that the man "only wanted to make an ego-centric grandstand appearance." She added that the man "truly wasted police time."

Abe said that "It looked pretty barren around there. I think it makes sense to stop and talk to the one person who is standing his ground." Abe went on to say that maybe he "could have said 'I've seen everything that has been happening. What information would you officers like so that you may respond to this disturbance in the most effective way?'"

Chaz said, "Glad the event was...videotaped," but said he should have been "more cooperative" with authorities, giving them an "explicit description of who and what he witnessed would of been more helpful to the community."
