Los Angeles Dodges a Bullet

Los Angeles barely escaped a full blown disaster this week. Griffith Park in L.A. is adjacent to the L.A. Zoo and a stone's throw from Universal Studios. It is Hollywood adjacent and just south of Burbank. I have fond memories of driving through Griffith Park when I lived in L.A. Today, 75 percent of the huge park lies burned. Fortunately, no homes were destroyed. "Due to the heroic and tireless efforts of the men and women of the Los Angeles Fire Department we have some very promising news to report to you," Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said at a news conference at the Griffith Observatory Wednesday evening.
