The Bench roamed around much of Chicago's north side today and was surprised to find light to moderate levels of voting.
Rogers Park, Uptown, Lakeview, Edgewater. Light, light, light.
At Truman College in Uptown (photo), a campaign worker standing nearby said that he was surprised, too.
"The turnout has been no so big," he said. He refused to be interviewed on video or photographed, but was happy to talk. "Maybe it's because of the early voting."
I pointed out that only about 60,000 people voted early.
"Oh," he said, "well maybe it's the weather."
"It's pretty nice out. Not too cold," I said.
"Hmmm," he said. "I don't know what's going on." I didn't point out that if he did know what was going on, he wouldn't be handing out campaign literature for Democrats.
