Earlier reports: Boston is under seige, or so it seems. At this time, gunshots and explosions have been heard in Watertown, a suburb of Boston, just a few hours after a campus police officer was shot dead at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) campus in Cambridge. The explosions were heard around Dexter Street in Watertown.

WCVB radio in Boston reported that "explosives and guns were apparently used in an attack on police officers in Watertown early Friday morning in a chaotic scene that sources say may be linked to the Boston Marathon bombings."
"According to FBI agents, national guard, K-9 units and SWAT teams stormed the area after a reported car chase involving two suspects in a black 2013 Mercedes," reports Express (UK). "Police have converged on the neighborhood outside Boston where there have reports of explosives being detonated and police are warning reporters to turn off their cell phones. Urging reporters to move away from the scene, one police officer allegedly said: 'If you want to live, turn off your cell phone'."
WBUR radio in Boston is being careful to say that the situation is still confusing. "We’re tracking the law enforcement developments tonight, but the situation is developing. We don’t know exactly what is connected to what, and will try to be cautious in our reporting," said WBUR.
