Heather Steans Avoiding Future Forums, Will Sit Out Loyola Event on Jan. 25
Illinois State Senator Heather Steans is afraid to have another debate with Jim Madigan, her Democrat challenger in the 7th Illinois State Senate District. Steans was recently humiliated by Madigan at the January 6 Candidates Forum.
Steans has refused to participate in a forum scheduled for January 25, which is sponsored by the Loyola College Republicans at the Lakeshore Campus on Chicago's north side. To quote from their press release, "While all three candidates campaigning for the seat were extended the invitation, only two, Jim Madigan – Democrat, and Adam Robinson – Republican, will be attending."
Nuff said. Here's the entire press release:
LOYOLA COLLEGE REPUBLICANS HOST SECOND STATE SENATE FORUM
Senator Heather Steans chooses not to attend
(Chicago, IL) – Loyola College Republicans officially announce a second state senate candidate forum. The citizens of Chicago and the 7th district want answers. Voters have a right to hold their elected officials responsible. That is why in December, the Loyola College Republicans hosted a town-hall style forum for the candidates for the Illinois State Senate, 7th district. The overwhelming success of the first event has given the Loyola CRs the responsibility of hosting a second forum. On Monday, January 25th at 6:00 pm in the Life Sciences Building on the campus of Loyola University Chicago, Loyola College Republicans are offering one of the last opportunities for voters to hear from candidates before the February 2nd primary.
While all three candidates campaigning for the seat were extended the invitation, only two, Jim Madigan – Democrat, and Adam Robinson – Republican, will be attending. The incumbent, Senator Heather Steans has chosen to again, not appear. President of the Loyola College Republicans, Sean Vera, writes, “t is a shame that the Senator is choosing to run away from her constituents rather than face them and answer their legitimate questions. Why she chooses to do so is a mystery to all of us. It could be because of a lackluster performance against her Democratic opponent at a previous debate. But my sneaking suspicion is that it’s because she can’t face her constituents – the people who she represents – without them smelling the stench of Blagojevich corruption.” More can be found on the LUC Republicans blog atwww.lucrepublicans.wordpress.com
The Loyola University Chicago College Republicans strive to share and demonstrate the values, opinions and goals of the Republican Party at Loyola. To that end, we seek to provide a student forum to go over and discuss the Republican Platform and to conduct programming to share the Republican platform with the student body of Loyola University Chicago.
