Don't Get Fooled Again

Guest commentary by Bruce Martin If you're like me, and you voted twice for G.W. Bush (I know, I know - but was there another option? Gore? Kerry? - I get nauseated thinking about it.) If you gave W your vote, you waited eight long years for him to deliver. After Iraq, two terms of no energy policy (from an oil man!) and failing to bring the parties together in DC, Bush delivered on next to nothing of substance. Yes, we were considerably safer on Jan 20, 2009 than we were when he took office (sorry folks, but that’s the truth), but so much of the other stuff were failures of Biblical proportion. Truth be told, I'm embarrassed now to have supported him. Side note: If W was able to "marry-up" as far as he did - Laura is classy, charming, beautiful and well-spoken - how could he not figure out a way to protect us from the gas tsunami that hit us in the summer of 2008? I'm just sayin'. Our friends on the Left - the ones now worshiping the second coming of Christ Obama - are now in the same boat. He’s already breaking their collective hearts. He’s breaking his promises and breaking the bank - big time. Remember how much summa ya'll hated the Texas swagger that "W" walked around with? Well, BHO's "cowboy" move over Manhattan with Air Force One and fighter jets is just the tip of the iceberg. He's working hard to make George look tame. His arrogance is numbing. His inexperience is glaring. His insincerity is proven by his cold, teleprompter-fed speeches (which makes W's inability to say the word "nuclear" almost palatable; at least Bush never said there are 57 states in the Union). Barack’s ego makes President Clinton look like a timid high school math geek. Is he really the best that a nation of 300 million people has to offer? By the time his never-ending campaign re-aligns itself for the next presidential election, you'll be as disgusted as I was at the end of the Bush/Cheney Variety Show. Sadly, we’ll probably have equally distasteful options come Election Day, 2012. Perhaps, by that time, enough of you will have awakened to the fact that Barack is not the messiah. Let this be a teachable moment, folks. No politician can change water to wine, much less walk on it. As W once said, "Fool me once, shame on you. Ya fool me, can't get fooled again." I think you get his meaning. Conservative Caps, Shirt and more! Leave a Comment - Chicago News Bench RSS Feed Visit us on Twitter!
