Tamils in Death Throes, 70 Killed by Sri Lankan Army

Winding down the final bloody moments of the once fearsome Tamil Tigers on the island of Sri Lanka. Late news from ABC (Australia): The Sri Lankan army says it has killed up to 70 Tamil Tigers trying to flee the conflict zone in the north of the country. A military spokesman says the rebels were trying to get away.... The remnants are now trapped in a shrinking war zone. Hemmed into a tiny area just one square kilometre in size, the rebels are making their final stand. There are believed to be just a few hundred fighters left cut off now from all escape....
