Hot Guitars Will End Cold January

Celebrate the end of a cold, gray January with great live music on Saturday, January 31, by joining two of Chicago's most talented musicians, Brian Wilkie and Matt Farmer (photo). They'll perform three sets of fun barroom favorites at Finley Dunne’s Tavern in Chicago. The show starts at 9:00 p.m. and there is no cover charge. Wilkie is one of Chicago ’s hottest guitar pickers. You can hear an example of his pedal steel guitar work on the video “Pay To Play” on YouTube. Wilkie has shared the stage with such jazz legends as Clark Terry and Zoot Sims, as well as country stars like Alison Krauss, Pam Tillis, and Lorrie Morgan. Wilkie is a friend and frequent collaborator of Farmer's band, The Blue State Cowboys, known for clever lyrics which often skewer politicians of all political stripes, always set to catchy tunes. The show on January 31 is Farmer and Wilkie, sans Cowboys. Finley Dunne’s Tavern is located at 3458 N. Lincoln Avenue, Chicago (one block south of Addison). Telephone: 773-477-7311. Plenty of parking and no cover. Finley's tavern serves 17 beers on tap and over 20 more in bottles. Subscribe to Chicago News Bench
