Uh oh. News now that Iran has enough stuff to make at least one atomic bomb - and they continue to make more at a frantic pace. Defying the U.N. Security Council, Iran has continued to both enrich uranium and expand its capacity to process even more material, the International Atomic Energy Agency disclosed [on November 19, 2008]. (Source: Global Security Newswire) “They clearly have enough material for a bomb,” said Richard Garwin, a top nuclear physicist who helped invent the hydrogen bomb and has been a Washington adviser for many years. “They know how to do the enrichment. Whether they know how to design a bomb, well, that’s another matter.” The intelligence shows that Iran is planning to "start installing another 3,000 centrifuges early next year, adding to 3,800 already enriching uranium and another 2,200 being gradually introduced." (Source: TimesOnline.UK) That's a hell of a lot of centrifuges. Iran is not the only worry in the region. Their is also Syria, a close ally of Iran. On Nov. 19, an IAEA report stated that "U.N. nuclear inspectors have uncovered substantial evidence suggesting Syria was building a covert nuclear reactor before Israel bombed the facility 14 months ago, but they declined to issue a formal conclusion in a report..." (Source: Global Security Newswire) The fact that Israel took out the Syrian facility begs the question: Will Israel also take preemptive action against Iran? Did Saddam Hussein have WMDs? Perhaps, and that argument will continue for decades. However, when Obama takes the Oval Office, he will be faced with the undeniable fact that Iran, today, has WMDs ready to use. Israel will probably respond. There are also some people in the US Government urging a preemptive strike on Iran's facilities.
