Second City Cop got this right: "Fire Monique Already" is a recent headline at SCC's excellent blog. For the uninitiated, Monique Bond is the spokesperson you must go through to to get information from the Chicago Police Department. She is the bulldog that the media must get past in order to interview a police official, or to obtain any kind of information about Chicago's police. Ms. Bond is notorious for not returning phone calls. She is perfect for her political hack job. She is a brick wall between the public's right to know and the Mayor's desire to keep information covered up. She is also, according to Second City Cop, "a [expletive deleted] moron." Here's news for Mayor Daley and Superintendent Jody Weis: Most of the local media can't stand Monique Bond. A single experience with Bond and her office can do more public relations damage than a dozen playground shootings. For what little it's worth, The Bench seconds Second City Cop's motion to fire the hack. The wicked post from SCC: ....Police Supt. Jody Weis said an earlier newspaper report that police were investigating whether officers may have also struck [recently killed Officer Richard]Francis was incorrect. J-Fed had to actually go out and say this because the Tribune and others were running with Monique's asinine statement.What a .... moron. These responding officers came upon a horrific scene, one that will no doubt haunt them the rest of their days. And this idiot of a "spokesperson" has the audacity and the complete lack of common sense to suggest that maybe they shot their co-worker? Did she not read even a single report of the incident?
