"Amanda" writes about her sad experience at the recent Lunt Avenue meeting between tenants and their landlord, David Gassman. Gassman allowed a drug rehab operation into his building without letting his rent-paying tenants know. Amanda outs herself as one of the two gals who mocked the beleaguered tenants as she left the meeting:
During my lunch break, I was surfing a bit around the Rogers Park blogs (of which there are a startling number), to see if there was any more "rabblerabblerabble" about the recent brouhaha with my landlord/building.
And I found this: http://rogersparkbench.blogspot.com/2008/06/angry-tenant-blasts-gassman.html
If you realize that the last few paragraphs are about me, and my household - you can get a true sense for the journalistic integrity and accuracy of the whole meeting pseudo-transcript. Especially when you think about the kind of person I am versus the picture of the person that description paints. FULL POST WITH COMMENTS....
Amanda, I did not write the letter that is in my post that you referenced above. You are welcome to send your own letter to me (see email info at top of this blog).
The letter from the angry tenant that was in my above-referenced post included these "last few paragraphs":
One more resident was trying to ask Gassman a question when another resident, a very young female, started spouting off in Gassman’s favor and making fun of the other tenants. And then her girlfriend came into the laundry room, dressed as a police officer, and the whole argument exploded. [Bench Note: The "police officer" was actually wearing a Loyola University security uniform.]
Finally, when the meeting was over and the two “girl friends” saw a group of the tenants standing outside the front gate, and before they stepped through their door, one was overheard to say, "There’s a mob of people out here smoking. I better call 911!’ She laughed and ran inside.
So Amanda, were you the one in the stunning Loyola Security Officer outfit? You were all saddy-sad to read that somebody felt that an injustice had been done against the residents, but you're comfortable with mocking those same residents - your neighbors - for it. Amanda, you might also want to know (or not) that Heartland Alliance's operation in your building is, according to the City of Chicago, operating improperly and needs a permit (see: "CONFUSING LUNT"). Do they have that permit, Amanda?
