Woman Pushed Out of Window on N. Sheffield Avenue

A woman was pushed out of a window in the 3200 block of N. Sheffield Avenue at approximately 1:00 this morning. At 1:15 a.m., police in the 19th and 23rd police districts were told to be on the lookout for a man in a red shirt, who fled northbound in an "old beat up" van with a broken window, "probably dark red." The following exchange happened at 1:17 a.m. between dispatch and police officers: Officer (at 3239 N. Sheffield): You do have an ambulance rolling this way, don't you? Dispatcher: Yah, we do. Officer (urgent tone): Yah, before she bleeds out on me! Police had a 1993 Chevrolet van and its driver in custody moments later, very near the crime scene. The victim was taken to Masonic Advocate Hospital. As of this writing, her name and condition are unknown. Why the woman was pushed out of the window is also unknown. Police spokespersons at Districts 19 and 23, as well as Police News Affairs downtown, had no comment when questioned by The Bench.
