3/5 Human?
It is one of the great ironies of our era that the so-called "Democratic" Party is less democratic than its main opposition party. In the Republican Party, one delegate's vote is worth one delegate's vote.
But in the "Democratic" Party some people are more equal than others. The flip side, of course, is that some folks are less equal than others when it comes to selecting their nominee. Perhaps that's not so ironic, though.
It took a Republican president to destroy the Apartheid Confederate States in our Civil War. It took a Republican Congress to allow President Lyndon Johnson, a Democrat, to make the 1964 Civil Rights Act a reality.
So is it any wonder, then, that today the Democrat Party today values a non-super delegate as though he or she is only three fifths of a person?

So what is a super delegate? Congresswoman Lois Capps is a super delegate. Basically, that means she’s part of an elite group that could decide the Democratic presidential nominee for 2008—but what does it really mean? Honestly, what is a super delegate?
