Post Office to Tax Payers: Screw You
The U.S. Post Office has a twisted sense of what the word "convenience" means.
This sign was seen at 8:15 last night, on the doors of the Post Office at 1723 W. Devon Avenue on Chicago's far north side.
For your "convenience," Chicago, there were seven - seven! - post offices open with "extended hours." They consider 9:00 p.m. to be "extended hours" on Tax Day?!?
Let's put this in perspective. On the entire north side of Chicago, there were only three post offices with "extended hours" last night. Except for the one near O'Hare, only two were north of the Eisenhower Expressway. The situation was similarly bad for South Siders.
Now, suppose you do not have a car, can't afford a taxi, are handicapped, or counting on a post office that would be open until midnight (as has happened in very recent years)?
What happened to post offices accepting tax filings until Midnight? Has that stopped entirely, or just in Chicago?
Now, think of the U.S. Post Office and the heinous service that they tend to provide. Then, consider the heinous condition of the Cook County health care system. Then, consider that both are government operations. Finally, consider that idiots like these would be running your health care system if either Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton become president.
