Blagojevich: Free Rides For Everybody!

Well? What about midgets, Governor Blagojevich? First, free rides for seniors, now free rides for disabled people. Where will it stop? First, you want to give free rides to everybody in Illinois who is 65 years or older. The outcry from the general public and the media was deafening, criticizing you for (a) sticking your nose where you said you wouldn't, (b) giving away a $20 million per year boondoggle to seniors only, regardless of their economic status, and (c) leaving the people who need our help the most - disabled and handicapped - with nothing more than the same discount they had before. Meanwhile, the rest of us would have to pay more to subsidize the seniors, even if said seniors are wealthy! Why stop there, Mr. Governor? Don't you think midgets deserve free rides on the CTA? No? What, are you anti-midget, Mr. Governor? After all, if every woman in Illinois can have a free mammogram, why not free bus rides for every midget? Now comes THIS from Associated Press: Blagojevich wants to expand free-ride plan (AP) — Gov. Rod Blagojevich said he wants more people to ride public transportation for free. A day after including free rides for senior citizens in the mass-transit bailout, the governor said Friday he'll propose in his next budget that disabled people also ride without charge.
