"The infrastructure of Chicago is falling apart. The CTA can't even move people ten miles without major problems," said an aid to Cook County Clerk David Orr. The aide, whom I shall not name, was proclaiming to anybody on the morning Red Line ride that Chicago shouldn't get the Olympics because of the crumbling infrastructure, governmental mismanagement, and crappy public service in general. The aide was also bemoaning Mayor Daley's recent call for the highest tax increase in the city's history.
Does this aide represent the feelings of David Orr? One hopes so, for if he does, it means David Orr can see the big picture. Let's just hope David Orr also sees that Cook County sucks for all the same reasons.
