Joe Moore Won't "Lead 49th Ward"
We'll just let Mr. Moore's press release say it for now. Betsy's gonna "lead 49th Ward" Apparently, then, Joe Moore will NOT be leading the ward. Hmmm. So what are we paying Joe Moore over $100,000 a year for??? Did YOU vote for Betsy Vandercook? She's a big advocate of recycling, by the way. (Perhaps she can help recycle the five tons of Joe Moore political flyers that still litter parts of the ward.)
Alderman Moore Announces New Chief-of-Staff
Betsy Vandercook to lead 49th Ward
Dear Neighbor,
I am pleased to announce that beginning today (Monday, July 16th), long-time Rogers Park resident Betsy Vandercook will join the 49th Ward Service Office team as my new Chief-of-Staff. Betsy replaces Kevin Cosgrove, who resigned in April to pursue other opportunities. As Chief-of-Staff, Betsy will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the office, as well as head up various special projects, including the upcoming 49th Ward Green Initiative.
Betsy brings to the 49th Ward Service Office a wealth of administrative experience and a commitment to public service. Betsy most recently served as Director of the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) Recycling Program and Assistant Chair of the Chancellor's Taskforce on Sustainability. Previously, she worked for almost 15 years in UIC's Publications Office, managing the university's editing, graphic design and printing departments consisting of over 40 employees. Since 2001, Betsy has served as the president of the Chicago Recycling Coalition (CRC). For over a decade, the CRC fought against the City's failed blue-bag program and was a major force in the City's decision to finally begin to phase out the current program and replace it with the new blue-cart and drop-off center recycling initiatives.
In 2006, the Illinois Recycling Association named Betsy the state's "Recycler of the Year" in recognition of her efforts. She recently has been asked to serve on the City's new Recycling Advisory Committee.Betsy is a twenty-year resident of Rogers Park where she and her husband Bill raised four children - Lisa, Nicole, Hannah and Noah - all graduates of Chicago public schools. Betsy is a tireless worker and a wonderful addition to the 49th Ward Service Office. She promises to build on the improvements we continue to make to the office.Welcome aboard, Betsy!
Sincerely, Joe Moore

ReplyDeleteWorked...managed? Did the 40 report to her? If she was running the place as this paragraph implies, why is no title cited here?
He also won't clean the graffiti from his Ravenswood storefront.
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling he won't be in town for a while.
