The Chicago Tribune deserves kudos for actually naming the breed of dog that were, sadly, being abused and trained to kill in vicious dog fights: Pit bulls.
Police recently busted a ring of dog fight enthusiasts. According to the Tribune today:
"Dozens of fighting dogs -- many of them scarred, starved and scared -- were removed from a barn in South Holland on Friday in what officials described as a major bust of a high-end breeding and training operation."
The Trib went on to say that most of the animals, "appeared to be pit bulls, but one -- a urine-soaked dog, larger than the pit bulls, and whose hair was falling out -- was thought to be a "bait dog," used to train the pit bulls to fight, investigators said." Full story...

I see a few of the open air drug market salesmen with these pit-bull dogs. These dogs look very dangerous and everytime Cota wants to say hi, the owners tell me the pit bull isn't friendly.

Only child abuse makes me angrier, and the people who brutalize animals would sure as hell do it to a child, or to you and me.
