Fluid and Impermanent

click for larger image

This was a square, or section, of the wall at Loyola Beach Park in Rogers Park, Chicago, painted in June, 2006. I do not know who the artist was; I would assume from the style that it was a child. I think I prefer to think that it was a child, probably a girl. I may be wrong. It doesn't matter, I suppose. The picture is sweet. It is melancholy, yet full of the joy of the moment, in acknowlegdement of the moment's fleeting nature.

It has been covered up now, ready for somebody else's art to hide it forever.

I hope the artist sees this.

I hope this little picture, temporary though its destiny be, might defy fate a bit longer as a little jewel on a little blog in a little neighborhood, in a tiny, little corner of the great forever.

But alas, we are fluid and impermanent.

Yes, even you.

  1. Nice post.

I really would have liked to create a bloggers secret "garden" wall panel, but didn't get it together. But, there's always next year. Somehow I think the bloggers will still be around next year.
