They're here, but not everywhere quite yet. The suburban areas are getting them before those of us in the city. Here on Chicago's far north side in Rogers Park, I haven't seen or heard a single cicada to date. But the
Chicago Tribune has a fun and informative article about the bugs' progress. Perhaps the invasion will happen on Memorial Day?

ReplyDeleteWhere are the Cicadas. Being a reasonable newbie to the midwest, I am looking forward to witnessing this phenomenon. But as I hear the daily "today is the day" prediction from the press, I become more cynical. I personally think they went to Miami to drink mojitos and celebrate memorial day in Little Cuba.
I tried to take a soil temperature reading with my Sponge Bob Square Pants rectal thermometer (purchased for the dogs). Unfortunately, it does not register readings lower than 90 degress. What do you expect from a cheap Walgreens thermometer? But I had to try in the name of science.
