Bible-o-jevich

The "Culture of Corruption" just won't die. Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich is currently under investigation - excuse, his administration is under investigation - for corruption, and quoting liberally from the Bible (the Christian Bible!!!) to defend himself. (I thought Democrats were above this sort of thing.) Just ask Alderman Joe Moore, or Jan Schakowsky's hubby Bob "Mr. Kite" Creamer, or Congressman William Jefferson, or ... Or Anne Leary at Backyard Conservative, who posts this today with reference to a story in the Chicago Tribune: Federal prosecutors have subpoenaed records from Gov. Rod Blagojevich's campaign fund as part of a sweeping corruption investigation into whether top aides and advisers exchanged state business and jobs for political support, the Tribune has learned. The recent move is the first public indication that political financial records belonging to the governor are being sought. Blagojevich also said (with poor grammar), "But I feel real good about all the different things that we do because we follow the rules and we do things right and at the end of the day, as they say in the Bible, the truth shall set you free. The truth is what it is. And the truth is we do things right." FULL STORY at Chicago Tribune... "Maybe Winston & Strawn will set you free. But we look forward to seeing you put your hand on that bible, governor," writes Anne, "and swear to tell the whole truth. So help you God."
