ID Need To Vote?

Thanks to Kevin O'Neil for this email: Subject: No ID needed to vote Date: Wed, 18 Apr 2007 From: "Kevin O'Neil" Tom, I wanted to correct an incorrect item on your blog today. Of at least the implication was incorrect. It was this item: http://rogersparkbench.blogspot.com/2007/04/joe-moores-irregularity-problem.html It implies that a voter must show some form of identification to vote. That is false. Page 35 of the 2007 Judge of Election Handbook states that the judge has to verify the voters signature against the digitized signature in the book of voter applications. Thank you for setting the record straight. http://www.chicagoelections.com/docs/2007Judgehandbook.pdf The only time a voter must show ID is if he/she has registered under the "motor voter" rules and is voting for the first time. 1. Wonder why Kevin can't do his job and tell us what's going on in 2431?

Or tell us about that special curb cut at 1440 West Farwell? Where's the permit Kevin?

  2. Perhaps Kevin could give us direction on the woman who gave a vacant building as her address? Or her statement that her ID's were in Evanston but was allowed to vote - no provisional ballot. Some of the voters walked in, plopped down an ID and even the Moore pollwatchers had a problem getting the name.

Speaking of names, perhaps Kevin could inform us of the legalities in a mail merge of pink postcards of which 104 have been returned to sender.... Some person or organization had the voter list of ward 49. Recipients should be calling the post office and reporting it...that is the ones who actually live here.
