Dirty Tricks in the 50th Ward

UPDATED INFO A/O 2:50 PM Over 100 signs have been stolen by anti-Naisy Dolar thugs in Chicago's 50th Ward, where incumbent Bernie Stone fights for his long-held job. It is a nasty political season, indeed. This message to CAPS Beat 2411 in Rogers Park's 50th Ward, where they, too, have a contentious run-off election next Tuesday. It seems that supporters of Bernie Stone are acting like Joe Moore supporters, stealing signs of incumbent Stone's challenger Naisy Dolar around the 50th. It is telling that the perpetrators ripped down American flags in addition to stealing signs. What it signifies I can only guess at privately. Be vigilante. Call police. Take photos. Criminal damage is not to be taken lightly. Apparently when the thief could not get to the 2 campaign signs displayed on the inside of our front windows, a different action was taken. The American flag and flag holder which was anchored into the front of our building was ripped completely right off the house. The flag will proudly fly again this afternoon after some repairs have been made. An estimated 35-40 Dolar signs were stolen overnight on the 2400 – 2700 block of Coyle. Richard P. We need to call 311 to make a police report. They kept me on hold for 12 minutes. When they got to me they can only make a report for the sign or signs that were taken from your lawn. Please be aware that [the police] did NOT want to make a report. They attempted to talk me out of it by stating that Naisy Dolar must personally file a complaint. They stated that the signs are her property. I explained to Officer Jordan that the signs are our personal property, given to us with no expectation of returning them, and that they were on our personal property. A white escalade and a white truck have been sited together in conjunction with the missing property/Naisy signs. There are well over a hundred signs that have been stolen. Contact the Board of Elections at 312-269-7870 to let Mike DeJesus know. The call took less than 2 minutes. We left our name and address. You do not have to do that if you do not want to. But do make the call. Don't let evil win out. We need to take a stand against these brown shirt-like tactics. This is 2007 and Mayor Daley wants the Olympics to come to our fine city. It is time we stopped acting like this kind of behavior is permissible because it is the "Chicago way.” Naisy Dolar's office has more signs. You can contact them at 773-508-6248 or stop by 2742 W. Touhy. If you know anything or just want to let off some steam try contacting the media, perhaps Pam Zeckman on CBS or WBBM Radio or John Kass at the Chicago Tribune.

  1. It's getting ugly everywhere!!! One thing I will say for Stone is at least he doesn't threaten and bamboozle nursing homes, daycares and other non profits into posting his signs on their property, not to mention the rental landlords. I have clients in the 50th ward and you see none of that! In fact, you see very few Stone signs at all. I predict Naisy taking that election. Go girl go!!!! I met her at the RPCAN debate and really liked her!!!!
