Pre-Dawn Shooting in Uptown, Chicago (Updated)

July 7, 2010 - 6:10 AM - Police are looking for two “young black men” as suspects in a pre-dawn shooting in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood. At approximately 4:36 a.m., four shots were fired near the Christopher House school at 4701 N. Winthrop, at the intersection with W. Leland, between N. Broadway and N. Sheridan. In another Uptown shooting this morning, a man died after being shot at Clarendon Park. It's not known at this time if these shootings are related. When police responded to a “shots fired” call to 911 they were waved down by a man who said two men on “mountain type” bicycles pointed at least one gun at him and fired. The victim was not injured, and it is unclear whether his vehicle was struck by any of the bullets. The suspects were described as black males. One was wearing a “striped shirt” and had braided hair, and the other had no shirt and “short or no hair.” The men rode west on W. Leland. Police were still on scene as the sun rose at 5:23 a.m. Two officers were doing paperwork. Another officer looked for bullet casings but found none, which could indicate that the shots were fired from a revolver. There were no "positive loiterers" at the scene when the shooting occurred.
